My Morning Skincare Routine

Happy Monday, friends, and welcome back to a new week! How was your weekend? I mostly unpacked and caught up from last week. We also did a little Fall-zhushing around the house and front porch, so I’m feeling all kinds of boots and sweater vibes. I’ll be sure to share soon.

I had so much fun working and hanging at the cabin last week with Val and Suzie, and it made me realize just how much I miss socializing and being with friends! It was really hard to say goodbye and come back home to such a quiet house.

Mr. College is coming home this weekend though, so that’s something fun to look forward to! It feels like forever since we’ve seen him.

Last week I shared some incredible new (to me) products I’m loving for brighter skin with a more youthful glow (find it HERE), which y’all seemed to really love, but I also had a few questions about how they fit with my love of Colleen Rothschild. Like was I still using Colleen’s products, did Olehenriksen replace them, which did I like better, etc.

The answer is I’m absolutely still a hard-core fan and believer in Colleen’s products, and continue to use all the same products for morning and night that I’ve used for the last few years… I’m now just filling in a few gaps with Olehenriksen’s products!

And just for y’all, code SUGARPLUM20 saves you 20% off everything!

My Morning Skincare Routine

Cleanse // Balancing Gel Cleanser

I start my morning with Colleen Rothschild’s gentle gel cleanser, which is a light wash to remove product residue left behind from my evening skincare routine, along with any oil and sweat from sleeping. I use these complexion sponges for a good lather, and gentle exfoliation (they feel like being at the spa!).

Tone // Balancing Force Oil Control Toner

This toner removes excess oil and helps unclog, purify, and minimize the appearance of pores, and helps keep oil in check all day. It has an energizing eucalyptus-peppermint scent for an instant pick-me-up that feels so refreshing. I’m already addicted to the feeling and smell!

Protect // Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum

The next step is Vitamin C… an antioxidant that helps improve skin’s elasticity, defends against environmental pollutants, brightens, and reduces the appearance of dark spots and pores. Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum has not only 15% Vitamin C, but also contains PHAs and hyaluronic acids, which target all the major signs of aging. A single pump acts as an actual shield, protecting skin from environmental pollutants, and it has an immediate sheen that instantly brightens skin.

It has a slightly tacky texture until fully-absorbed, so I find it’s best to wait a few minutes before continuing with moisturizer and makeup.

Brighten // Banana Bright Eye Creme

You know I love the Banana Bright Eye Creme… it’s been in several of my ‘favorites’ roundups! It’s chock-full of Vitamin C and collagen to instantly brighten and firm the fragile under-eye area. Plus, it has illumination that instantly refreshes the look of tired eyes and combats dark circles. It’s a super hydrating base for makeup and concealer, and a step I never skip!

Moisturize // Sheer Renewal Cream

My go-to day cream… this is a ride-or-die for me! The lightweight formula is sheer and absorbs quickly, but so hydrating skin looks instantly more plumped. It also has some illumination to it, giving my skin a healthy glow.

Sun Protection // SPF

Depending on the day, my SPF comes in the form of Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen (if I’m going makeup-free), NARS Tinted Moisturizer (for light coverage) or It Cosmetics CC Cream + Illumination (for more coverage on full makeup days). All three are incredible products and have great sun protection.

I hope that answers your questions about how I integrate different brands in to my daily routine! Do you have similar steps, or other products you swear by for morning skincare? Don’t forget, code SUGARPLUM20 saves you 20% off both Colleen and Olehenriksen’s products!

Any recommendations on skin care for your daughter? My daughter is 11 and really would benefit from a consistent routine, but I don’t want anything that is too harsh for her skin!

Thank you so much for the good info! Any tips on how you clean your complexion sponges and how often you do so?

I just rinse mine in clear, hot water…or even toss them in the dishwasher on the top rack. I’ve been using the same ones for a couple of weeks and they’re still going strong. I’m guessing I’ll know when it’s time to retire them for a new one!

Can you share your updated evening routine too?!! I’ve added both Ole toners at your recommendation but am wondering how to add in with the CR Glycolic Peel pads, serums, etc and I KNOW you’ll have the answer!!

You got it!! The Olehenriksen night toner and CR peel pads are similar, I usually alternate them. You certainly don’t need both, but I’d have a hard time deciding which I like better!

Interestingly, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, uses Ole Henriksen, so I hear. Her skin is gorgeous. Yours is as well.
