{Guest Post} Freckles Chick (& Resolutions)

We’re nearing the end of the Best of the Best series, and today I’m featuring a golden nugget in the blog world. A true gem, with a combination of witty, clever and talent… {Freckles Chick!} My blogroll is organized by most recently updated…so when I see that FC has a new post, I drop everything and click straight over. She always makes me laugh, and drool at the same time. (Over her projects, not because I’m impaired much.) I am absolutely thrilled to have her Guest Posting today, and bummed that I don’t know her in real life.

Many thanks to Cassie for inviting me over!  Her fabulous blog is a constant dose of inspiration and I’m so honored to be here.

What is your favorite Holiday tradition, or what signals the start of the Holiday for you? (Cassie butting in: I know the Holiday has passed, but her answer was too sweet to omit. I’m a sucker for grandparents and their traditions.)
As we round out this holiday season, let’s not forget that it’s not how many presents you get that’s important……it’s how much people spent on them that matters. Kidding. Nothing signals the holiday season more than when the air turns so crisp you can practically snap off a piece. Also, I can finally add Bailey’s to my hot chocolate without guilt (in honor of holiday tradition of course).

Our favorite holiday tradition is hanging our sweet Advent calendar, handcrafted years ago by my husband’s maternal grandmother. It’s made of burlap (long before burlap was chic) and each “ornament” was cut out of felt and hand-stitched by her nimble fingers. The first Christmas we shared with our fuzzy pooch (9 years ago), I stitched our names onto each of the stockings.  For us, the holiday season truly starts here.

What was your favorite post/project you blogged about in 2010?
I kicked off 2010 by whipping my sad little closet into shape and it is far and away my most favorite project of the year (it was a New Year’s resolution)!  I loved every bit of it. Pure organizational heaven.  {This project was originally posted as part of a past guest blogging endeavor. Forgive me, Cassie, for being so promiscuous with my favorite 2010 project. Love you mean it.}

    Which of your posts were you most surprised by it’s popularity?
I’m quirky. Though life is what we make of it, I don’t take life too seriously. With an overwhelming (and slow) renovation on our hands, I was in a blog rut so I posted a silly blurb about this little costume escapade, not expecting anyone to take the time to read it. Imagine my surprise when people actually left comments on that particular random post. It wasn’t my most popular post of all time, nor was it my most profound, nor was it my most relevant……I was just so delightfully surprised by the hilarious outpouring of reader reaction. There are many days when my blog feels not good enough, my house feels not done enough, and I feel not “together” enough. None of that matters as long as I can still laugh at myself, and my readers are here laughing with me. Or are they laughing at me? Either way, I’ll take it.
Thank you for having me! Happy New Year to all!
Thank you, {Freckles Chick!} It’s interesting to see that someone who can do no wrong in my eyes, has moments of insecurity too. I guess we all do, so it’s a good thing we have each other! (Should we hold hands and sing Kumbaya now?!) Anyway, isn’t she cute as a button? Hop over to her clever blog and catch up on her Basement Renovation…I have major tile envy!

You can also catch me at Leah’s pretty blog, The Way We Are, talking about my 2011 Resolutions. Hopefully publishing them to the world will make me accountable, because as of only the 7th day of the year, I’m 0 for 2!

Have a great weekend, Lovies…I hope to make it a productive one. But after 5 whole days of work, I may not be able to get out of bed. “Mr. Sugarplum, make a fire and fetch my wine please, Love!”
