My gosh you guys are awesome!!! Thanks for all the love on my Winter Mantel! I think I’ll have to do those more often. Between meeting my precious new nephew for the first time, and all your positive comments…yesterday was pretty, pretty good. I think you’ll like today…at least you will if you’re interested in seeing new spaces in my house. Were you starting to think we lived in a one-bedroom with a kitchen and a mantel!?
I realized recently that we are all soul sisters (and brothers!) after your response to my Lamp-A-Looza post! Not many things get a heart racing as quickly as a smart lamp….especially one that’s less than $40. Which is the most I paid for any of these lovelies:
After I calmed down and got them home, the fun task was figuring out where they would live! Of course I had to try all three pairs in three different spots…I was like a rapid little rodent, scurrying all over the house. I started with the Dining Room since the only light source was the chandelier.
I like how regal they look, but don’t like covering up so much of the ‘art.’ And if the gourd lamps were too tall, I knew the stacked balls would be too. So I crossed my fingers and tried the metallic urchin-like lamps.
Perfect! They add the right touch of elegance and light, without covering up the pictures on the wall.
Some of you may notice the chair cushions are now a jewel-toned blue (as opposed to the orange they were at Thanksgiving). I’m plotting out some changes…starting with more pattern and color via new drapes. But I’m forcing myself to finish Babygirl’s Room before moving on. ‘The List’ seems to grow everyday!!
So that’s one pair down, two to go. Many of you commented about the lamp in this picture from the Magnolia Wreath post:

(Even though the post had nothing to do with the lamp…that’s just how observant you are! Love it! I’m the same way…so don’t go posting a pic if you don’t want me commenting about your sock laying in the corner. Oh yes, I noticed it.)
Here’s a better shot of the lamps from before Christmas:
I love these lamps, but never thought they were quite right for the space. Plus I stole one of them for Babygirl’s new room. And the other one moved to the Guest Room/Office. The base and shade are Target Treasures. And yes, I know the cords are obnoxious. The genius homebuilder put two outlets in this room…against the side walls! So adding light has been a challenge. Anyway….I knew this table needed two new lamps.
These could work, but I didn’t love them here.
These I like!

(I know the bookcases are a hot-mess! Another thing on ‘The List’ is to paint them and back with a fab fabric, after clearing out at least of the stuff! I’ll wait while you scroll back up to look at them.)
Moving on to the Master Bedroom. Remember this picture…and how much I hated that rinky-dink lamp?
The other side of the bed has a matching rinky-dink…this monster bed definitely calls for more substantial lamps!
I thought the gourd lamps could work, until I tried the stacked ball lamps. I’m feeling pretty smitten!
So? How’d I do…was it a successful Lamp-A-Looza?
I eventually took the plastic off of the shades; had to play it safe in case Rita Return decided to step in. So what do you think? Do you like where they ended up, or prefer them in different spots?
