Happy Sunday sweet friends! I’m actually not dreading tomorrow, this Monday will be a lot easier to handle since it’s a short work week and pie is just around the corner! I had so much fun today setting the table for my family’s Thanksgiving dinner. I feel as if it is my gift to them, to show how much I adore them. (I become strangely overly sentimental around Thanksgiving, Christmas and Independence Day.)
First up was making placecards. It’s not like they are necessary with six people, but I think it is a nice touch that makes each guest feel special. Not to mention add so much to the look of your table!
I’m still a bit hooked on creating wordles, so I made one for each guest. Each placecard describes the traits we are grateful for in that person. The kids pitched in too in describing Gramma and Grampa, and they especially loved coming up with words for me and Mr. Sugarplum!
(I’ll have to ask why I’m ‘sticky’? But they were quite pleased with calling me a ‘blogster.’)
It will be fun to go around the table and read them on Thanksgiving, and everyone can use it later for an ‘encouraging’ bookmark.
I made some adjustments to the table decor and love how it turned out!
The glittery sticks I usually put in the Christmas tree, but placed them in a Dollar Store vase to use as a centerpiece for now. Babygirl and I found the beautiful Fall leaves used as vase filler in our front yard. It adds some nice height, and ties in with the Eddie Ross gold glittered pumpkins (Who, ohmygosh commented on both posts!!). The pinecones are in another one of my craft projects.
After Courtney at A Thoughtful Place tipped us off to the great ribbon found at the Dollar Store, I picked up the gold gauzy ribbon used to tie the placecards and napkins. A single $1 roll was all I needed for 6 place settings.
The china was passed down to me through my family, as was the monogrammed silver flatware. I used the plum glasses and napkins for a muted hit of color (and because it’s what I’ve got!).
I’m crazy about the No-Sew Trio of Runners, and love the lightness they bring to the table. The rose-colored gold chargers I picked up at Michaels when they were 2 for $3. This is my first tablescape using chargers and I don’t think I’ll ever skip them again!
The acorn-filled hurricanes were too bulky for the table, so they moved to the piano top, along with the largest of my leftover Halloween pumpkins.
I’ll leave you with one last Thanksgiving craft….a practically free banner! All I needed were two sheets of scrapbook paper, a package of the cutest, smallest clothes pins ever, and a free print-out:

I’m not typically a scrapbook-craft kind of gal, but having a blog makes me do crazy things! And it really is so cute. Using jute ribbon from this project helps it to look more organic…and I’m obsessed with those tiny clothespins! (I have a feeling you’ll see them again in a Christmas craft!) I know the shelf-life of this banner is less than a week (seeing as how Thanksgiving is 3 days away!), but it was a fun Saturday afternoon craft with the kids, so totally worth it!

I’m really happy to have found the cute Paper Glitter blog, it’s so easy to personalize an event with fun paper projects….and even easier when someone does it for you…and for free!
I’m trying to stay ahead of the rush this year so I can enjoy the holidays more (Don’t ask me if I’ve started Christmas shopping though…not.one.bit. So I might be smug with Thanksgiving, but Christmas will be showing me who’s boss!), and it feels great to have the table set. It really helps us all get in to the spirit too.
