Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the holiday weekend! Not only is it Valentine’s Day and a school break for President’s Day…but we’re expecting up to 6-inches of snow!! That is a serious event for Texans, so expect your social media feeds to be filled with weather updates, ha!

Today I’m excited to share an all new Dressing Room Diaries, my first of the new year! It’s a mix of retailers from Nordstrom to Target… but I don’t want you to judge the shirt by its label, so they’re all mixed in! My job is to find the cutest things, at the best prices, and I think you’ll love these!

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish (give or take #covid), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/0.

 

Jeans //

Let’s start with denim because I found two incredible styles, both so perfect for Spring. But let me ask you…when is the last time you put on a pair of jeans and actually felt comfortable?! If you’re like me, it’s been awhile!

Well that all changes with these jeans! Made of the softest denim, they’re thick enough to feel secure, but full of stretch for a flexible, comfortable fit. The rise is just below the belly-button, and there’s no gaping in the back. You can wear them long or cuffed, but I think I’ll have them hemmed at a cropped length. And the ankle opening is perfect for sneakers, flats and sandals.

Fit Tip: They’re true to size, but stretch out a little. I’m wearing a 2, but would size down if in-between.

The second winner in the jeans department are these with a raw hem and cropped length. They’re more of a mid-rise, with a dark rinse and no distressing. I love the extra room in the leg, and comfortable stretch. The pocket placement is so flattering on the back, too!

The sweatshirt is a cute find, but a little boxy and slim through the shoulders.

Spring Tops //

Several of you spotted this blouse in my last Sugarplum Style post and wanted details! It’s a thick crepe material, with the prettiest ruffle collar and sleeve. Wear it open or buttoned, it has a flowy tunic fit that’s easily dressed up or down.

Doesn’t this pretty top make you ready for sunny spring days?! It’s a lightweight woven material, fully-lined through the body, with feminine details at the neck and a flutter sleeve. It’s a great work-from-home top since it looks so pretty on Zoom!

I never met a stripe I didn’t love…make them pink it’s it’s mine! This tunic is a crisp cotton poplin, with ruffle neck and wide smocked elastic at the wrists. Wear the sleeves long or pushed up, and the neck open or tied.

This little number is as soft and comfy as it is flirty and cute. The body is made of a soft cotton knit, with crisp poplin flutter sleeves. The scoop neck is a flattering silhouette for wearing out or dressed up with skirts and pants.

Fit Tip: I sized up to a small for a little more room through the body.

Clearly feminine details are having a moment this spring! This chiffon top is fully-lined through the body, with a smocked elastic neckline and flutter sleeves. It would be darling with a floral skirt, but just as cute with white jeans. Great for layering under blazers, too.

Tees & Pullovers //

A girl can never have too many striped tees, and this one is the perfect oversized fit. A classic long sleeve style, it’s perfect for jeans, shorts, and even prepping up your favorite joggers.

Graphic tee season is almost here, and J.Crew always makes some of my faves. They’re simple and chic, and made of the softest cottons.

The sweetest sweater that’s perfect transitional weight, this cashmere feels amazing on! The multi-colored hearts make it fun well beyond February, too!

The requests for spring dresses are coming in hot, and I’m here for it! This pretty new arrival caught my eye, and I absolutely adore it. The ruffle details and shape are so feminine, yet it’s not overly sweet. I love the swiss dot pattern, and the sheer overlay makes the length flattering. It’s also 20% with code SUGARPLUM20

I shared this bodysuit in this week’s Sweet and Sassy post, and I stand behind it being a closet staple! There’s something so empowering about it…flattering fit, comfortable, and classic.

These jeans are a great straight fit in a thick, sturdy denim. They start out stiff (there’s no stretch!), but relax and form to your shape after just a few wears.

Fit Tip: It’s true to size, but I sized up one to a small because I have a long torso, and don’t love wedgies, ha!

Lounge & Workout Wear //

Loungewear continues to be part of my everyday, and I’m not mad about it! Especially when it comes in the form of my favorite fleece! My friends at Gibson took our favorite joggers, and made the cutest henley tank jumpsuit! Wear it around the house with your favorite cozy cardigan, or layer on a jean jacket and sneakers for running around town.

As for workout wear, Zella always brings it with incredible quality pieces! This pullover is a really well-made sweatshirt material, and lined in the softest fuzzy fleece. I love the longer back and side slit for pairing with leggings.

These are my go-to Amazon leggings, now in this fun new pattern.

Fit Tip: I sized down in the pullover (Zella tops run large), but would prefer my usual size for a longer fit. The leggings run a little big for me, I wear an XXS

I love the fit and style of this muscle tank!! It’s a brushed material that’s thick and soft, with lots of stretch and cute twist front. It’s a little cropped, so pairs perfectly with high-waist leggings.

Pajamas //

I hit the pajama jackpot this round, and I think you’ll be thrilled with what I found! First up, this brushed knit set I shared in Tuesday’s Sweet and Sassy post…I’ve worn it all week and it’s crazy soft and comfortable! I love the shorter sleeve and pant length, too…I don’t feel like I’m drowning in fabric!
