Bittersweet

Hello, and happy Monday. Happy for us, only in that we made it through the weekend. I was reminded why we’ve lived in all our houses for 10-plus years…moving is haaaaaarrrrrrdddddd. But we got ‘er done…and officially said good-bye to the home we knew so well, loved beyond measure, and brought us more good times and memories than I can put in to words. I don’t know if it was exhaustion or emotion, but a few tears were shed.

But by the time we rounded up the last load, I was ready to move on, and slept sound and peacefully in ‘the new house‘….now, simply our home.
Thanks to my parent’s help, we managed to get enough unpacked that we can live here without wandering around helplessly. The kids actually made it to school today in clean clothes, teeth brushed, and a packed lunch! #smallvictories But finding my deodorant is another story.
I’m home today, to greet the endless utility installers who will arrive ‘between 8 and 5,’ #geethanks and dig my way out of more boxes. But I’ll be back tomorrow with some sweet Valentine projects I created for a fun feature. Thank you for all the kind comments and emails over the last few days…your thoughtfulness means so much. Happy Monday, lovebugs!

Happy new home Cassie and family. I sure you will make many many wonderful memories here. Go easy on yourself with the unpacking. It doesn't have to be done in one day. Enjoy the nuances and discovering the house and her treasures. Have a good day, a good week.

  4. While reading your opening to the post, it hit me how walls CAN really speak. We stand there, looking at these WALLS and the SPACES and they hold SO MUCH! We have moved ("up") from the beginning of our marriage 20 years ago. Every home no more than 3 years. Then the last one we left, our "dream home", and we actually missed the walls! (The house was amazing!) However, we were so fortunate to be moving to a new area, with a new job (during the economic problems 5 years ago) that we learned the memories go with us. It was OK to let it go. In our case I think it was the house more than the memories. 😉 We move on. God has a plan. We have memories (and videos) and we are building new memories–and so fortunate–beyond our wildest dreams! Wishing you and your family many happy days, reliving the old, and embracing the new.

Congrats for making it through the weekend! Moving is such a pain. I got so emotional when we moved out of our house last year, too, that I just stood at the door staring and crying. Ha! Emotion is definitely allowed! But now you get to start the fun process of unpacking! 🙂

  12. Moving is A LOT of work! We move about every 2 years since we flip houses. This will be the first time in 11 years that we are making it over the 2 year mark! It's a good way to purge and get a new start in your new home!

  14. You did it!!! Congrats on your new home and journey. I moved after 23 years and I vowed I would never move again. If moving is in the cards for me in my future, I've decided to grab my pocketbook and get to steppin.

When we moved out of our last house 2 years ago, I sat in the car boohooing while the buyers did the final walk through. I just couldn't even be in there with them. You'll miss your old house and the memories but the new house excitement takes over and it's home pretty quickly. 🙂
