Best in Swim | My Top 10 Swimsuits

Happy Friday friends, and cheers to the weekend ahead! We had a fun, but slightly chaotic, first week of Summer break. It’s definitely going to take a minute for us to get a new rhythm!

Thanks for your love on this week’s posts, especially the food ideas you left in our Summer Al Fresco. Maggie and Mollie Sugarplum made an appearance too, and yesterday was all the fun behind the scenes of the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Summer of Color photoshoot! It’s hard working behind a screen sometimes, so I always appreciate when you take the time to chime in!

Today’s post is just in time for Summer…a round-up of my favorite swimsuit styles! I know swimsuit season isn’t always a reason to celebrate, but over the years I’ve found some flattering styles that (almost) always make me feel comfortable and confident.

Fit Tip: I’m 5’4″, 120-ish pounds with a slight pear shape (flat chest and fuller bottom) and longer torso. I always size up one in swimwear, especially one-pieces for more torso length.

one // Palm Print One Piece

I promise this suit is like the Sisterhood of Traveling Swimsuits…it just has a way of looking good on everyone! The high ruffle placement elongates the legs, and the deep-v is flattering on the collarbone. I like that the leg is a little modest, while the open back keeps it sassy. This suit has been a Top 2 reader fave for the last two years.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

two // Color Block One-Piece

I posted this suit from our Mexico trip in February, and it still remains one of the most popular items overall this year! The placement of the colors and stripes creates a longer, leaner leg line, and the adjustable straps help with the fit on top. It’s fully-lined with removable cups, and while the leg is lower, it is a touch cheeky in the back.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

three // Plunging Neck One-Piece

The suit that converted me to one-pieces…this sassy plunging fireball is my top-selling swimsuit of all time! It’s fully-lined with full coverage across the bum, but minimal support on the top. I consider this a ‘vacation with your hubby’ suit, not a ‘volleyball with the family’ suit. In other words, it’s perfect for lounging with a margarita and turning heads! It comes in 10 fabulous colors and is currently 40% off!

Fit Tip: I size up to a 4 for more length.

four // High Neck Two Piece

Once I was on-board with one-pieces, I decided to take the plunge with high-waisted two-pieces, too. And consider me smitten! They are so fun and flattering, and completely liberating!! They keep you held in, while allowing peeks of skin in all the right places. I adore the print and fit of this one, and the high neck is perfect for keeping the chest area protected. Plus, the back is adorable and the lace-up tie gives you extra support on top.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but would recommend sizing up two if you’re busty.

five // French Tie Bikiniย

I still love a good bikini, but prefer them to be on the sportier side…like this one! I’ve had this suit for years, and now own it in a few colors. The fit is incredible, and thanks to the cross tie back, you can adjust for full support. The bottoms are full coverage across the back, and stay put. I can’t say enough about J.Crew’s quality of swimwear…and they’re all 40% off right now! Plus, the colors are consistent across styles, so you can mix and match for different combos.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small in both top and bottom.

six // Classic Tank Suit

It’s hard to go wrong with this simple and classic tank suit. The plunging back is unexpected and so flattering, while the front keeps you fully covered. It’s fully-lined, but there is no padding or seams to provide support on top. It’s super cute worn as a tank bodysuit with shorts and skirts, perfect vacation look! And bonus, it’s 40% off!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 4.

seven // Mixed Stripe Ruffled One Piece

This suit is a new addition for me this year, and it became a fast favorite. I love the varying stripes for a lengthening effect, and ruffle accent gives the sporty shape a feminine touch. It comes in three fun colors, and sells out almost immediately with every restock.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 4, but wish I had a little more length and room, so I’d size up two in this one.ย

eight // Ruffled Bikini

Another suit I’ve owned for years (J.Crew suits last forever!!), I add a new color of this ruffled swim combo every season. It’s just too good! Plus, it’s incredibly comfortable, and great for being active. The top fits like a bra, with lining and padded cups, and the bottoms full coverage across the bum. It comes in tons of colors and I get compliments literally every time I wear it! It’s on sale, too!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small in both top and bottom. The white is fully-lined and not sheer!

nine // Strappy One Piece

This suit is meticulously crafted to offer full support, while remaining sassy and flattering. The top is fully-lined with built-in cups, and the bottoms are fully coverage. I love it paired with shorts and skirts on vacation, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 4.

ten // Pom Pom Two Piece

The suit that humbled me (remember when I tried it on upside down and declared it an ‘odd fit’?!)…is now one of my faves. Once I put it on the right way, that is! The high-waist bottoms are a welcome relief, and the stripes and poms such a cute addition. Look for it in solid black in next month’s Amazon Fashion Finds!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but I’d size up two if busty.

And finally, while I haven’t actually given this one a whirl outside the confines of my mirror, I already know it’s a total winner! The ruffle neck is just low enough, while still offering seams and padding for support. Plus, the light ruching along the sides conceals and flatters the mid-section. I found this one in my recent Target Haul, and kept it for sure!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Ruffled One Piece | All-Weather Bangle Set

Okay, that rounds out my Top 10 swimsuits for the season, but of course I’m always looking for new and better styles with amazing fit. You can find tons more options in my Amazon Fashion Finds and Dressing Room Diaries posts.

Oh yeah, and also worth noting, the all-weather bangle set I’m wearing in virtually every photo is finally restocked!! And in the rose gold I wear (it’s a little softer than the gold). I wear a small, but the sizing is more about your hand than your wrist since they slip on. Find them here.

Which style of swimsuit do you wear most often? Do you have a favorite from my list, too? Happy weekend, lovebugs!

Great suits! Last summer I started wearing cute skirted bottoms with a bikini top and I find it a good mix of cute, flattering, good coverage, and comfortable! I have all kinds of colors and just mix and match. If you ever want to try any cute little skirts (with the bathing suit bottom built in), I would love to see what you find! I mostly buy mine on Amazon – this is my favorite and I have it in many colors (I size up)! https://i.urlgeni.us/5f7e45/https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015NKSGIE?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details&th=1&psc=1

Have you considered a collaborations with Miraclesuit swimwear? I have worn their suits for about 15 years. They are expensive but provide shaping like shapewear and have a number of modest necklines and soft cup or padded underwire bra components. On sale they range from 80 to 100 dollars. The sizing is fairly generous so most of the time I need to size way down, so that is an attitude boost! Perhaps your mother might be brave enough to model them? I know it is a big ask. I can see that modeling swim might not be the most comfortable thing. Thanks for doing this for us. Your suits give me good ideas for my daughter in law who is size 2-4.
