Amazon Fashion Finds | January

Happy Friday, friends. This has been a strange week for our family…so many emotions ranging from elated joy to devastating sadness. It started with the excitement the two week countdown to Resort, and ended with losing my grandmother yesterday.

Her loss isn’t entirely unexpected, in fact, it’s something I’ve prayed about for awhile. But it doesn’t make the heartbreak or finality of it sting any less. She hasn’t been herself for many years, so I take comfort in knowing she’s finally whole and new again…and reunited with Poppoo and my dad. I hope she was elated to see them, and not devastated to discover they’d gone before her.

She filled more roles in my life than just grandmother, and I will miss her every single day. But I’ll think of her every time I wear bright lipstick and bold ‘earbobs,’ and rejoice in all she taught me. She had more more style, sass, strength, and class in her tiny frame than any woman I’ve known. You were one in a million, Nance, and loved dearly.

Thanks for all your love this week on the Behind-the-Scenes of the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Resort Collection photoshoot! I’m thrilled you liked seeing some of the work and fun that goes into bringing the Collection to life! (I shared another sneak peek piece here, did you see it?!) I also brought back the popular series, You Ask, I Answer yesterday…so many fun questions to answer!

Today I’m excited to share a new month of Amazon Fashion Finds! I started these last July, and they quickly become reader-faves, and even though it takes intense digging to find the good stuff, I love the challenge of discovering such gems!

This month is a great assortment of sweaters, pullovers, party skirts, and accessories…and here is the best of the batch.

Sidenote: If you’d like to see more of these Amazon posts, please consider not shopping via the Amazon app when on your phone/tablet. Not only does it not credit the sale to me (so only Amazon benefits), but it keeps me from seeing what you like most! Thank you for considering this option.

We’ll start with one of my faves…a sweater so cute and comfy it’s tempting to buy it in every color! It’s a similar style to the popular Free People sweater, but a better fit and feel in my opinion! It’s a relaxed, oversized fit, but doesn’t completely swallow you up. I love this cognac shade with black, blue, and white denim, so it’s got a lot of versatility.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS.

Relaxed Sweater | Distressed Jeans | Chelsea Booties

I’ve been wearing it with a little half-tuck and my fave dupe belt.

Relaxed Sweater | GG BeltDistressed Jeans | Chelsea Booties

This sweater feels just as luxe, but is only $20!! How do they do that?! I love the mock neck and ribbed trim, and it’s as soft as anything I’ve ever worn.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but would have worn my usual XS if available.

Softest Mockneck SweaterDistressed Jeans | Chelsea Booties

This cotton-blend sweater has a touch of cashmere, making it feel extra smooth and soft. It’s a relaxed fit, but has a structured feel (not slouchy or sloppy). The turtleneck is loose, and the side slits make it easy for wearing loose and untucked.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small.

Side-Split SweaterDistressed Jeans | Chelsea Booties

This mockneck sweater is chunky and loose, with a great fit through the shoulders and flattering seam detail through the middle. The weave is larger, so you may want to layer a cami under if it’s extra chilly out.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Lightweight Sweater | Leopard Belt | Black Jeggings | Chelsea Booties

Let’s pause and talk about the jeans and leopard belt. I think by now most of you either own the dark rinse jeggings I discovered last month (see them here), or you’re anxiously stalking your size to come back in stock! Clearly they were total winners, and not just because they’re only $20!

So of course I had to try more rinses, right!? I wasn’t a big fan of the light wash, but do love the black ones! They aren’t quite as thick and ‘denim’ feeling as the dark blue, but have the same soft, stretchy fit with belt loops and back pockets. And you can wear them as leggings or jeans!

As for the belt, virtually every outfit I wear has a pop of leopard somewhere, usually belt or shoes. Both of these affordable options are genuine leather with a faux-calf hair texture, and a great color and pattern. The buckle is also a good brushed brass for both, so it’s just a preference to width.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS regular jeggings, and size small in the belts.

Wide Leopard Belt | Thin Leopard Belt | Black Jeggings | Chelsea Booties

I love a long, relaxed cardigan for everyday wear, and especially travel, and this one is exceptionally well-made and so soft. It’s a little on the longer side, with deep pockets and a draped neck. Paired with the stretchy jeggings, it’s a crazy comfy, yet chic, combo…and great for travel or long days.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, so it def runs big

Long Cardigan | V-Neck Tee | Leopard Belt | Black Jeggings | Chelsea Booties

Moving on from sweaters, I adore this window pane and peplum top. It’s lightweight and fitted, and so cute with jeans or workwear. I wish it were a little softer and thicker, but for the price, I’m willing to overlook it! (The material is a little rough and thin, but not uncomfortable or too sheer for a nude bra.)

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, so size up one (two if you’re busty).

Windowpane Peplum Top | Black Jeggings | Pump

This peplum top is softer, and more of a thick t-shirt feel, with a longer fit. The peplum is tiered and light, so they aren’t stiff nor stand away from the body. It’s a little longer, too, so great for long torsos, or even pairing with leggings.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but an XS would work too, so only size up if you prefer it looser.

Tiered Peplum Top | Distressed Jeans | Pump

Next up is jackets and pullovers…starting with this darling sherpa bomber! The cutest fit and most-neutral color, it’s a great wardrobe addition with so many styling opportunities. Plus, the silhouette is timeless.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

Sherpa Bomber Jacket | V-Neck Tee | Leopard Belt | Black Jeggings | Chelsea Booties

I actually have this pullover in pink and white, and love it so much I had to add another color (I live in them this time of year, with both jeans and workout leggings). It’s super soft and plush, but not bulky. Wear it snapped closed, or open, depending on your style (or how cold it is!). I’ve got it half-tucked, but it’s also long enough for leggings.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing small (would prefer usual XS)

Quilted Pullover | Distressed Jeans | Best Sneakers

This pullover is cozy, soft teddy bear fleece and feels like a giant snuggy! It’s too big for me to wear out, but would definitely wear it around the house. I like this soft brown shade, too.

And you see my sneakers, right?! I told you about them in yesterday’s You Ask, I Answer post…no other way to say it, I’m obsessed.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing small in the pullover, but would prefer to size down one or two. The sneakers are whole sizes only, so I went up half.

Teddy Bear Pullover | Distressed Jeans | Best Sneakers

Okay, now the fun stuff…I may wear jeans and sweaters every day, but these are the styles I love most. First up is a totally flirty and flirty tulle skirt. How often can you wear a tulle skirt, you’re thinking? Probably not many, but for this price, it’s a fun addition. It comes in a ton of colors, and has an easy pull-on fit with elastic waist. I paired it with a fitted turtleneck to balance the fullness.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a US2 skirt and XS top. I’d size up one in the top if busty or in-between. My usual size is very fitted.

Knit Fitted Turtleneck | Tulle Skirt | Pump

You may recognize this skirt, I wore it in red non-stop over the holiday season. I’m so smitten I had to order more colors…beautiful boxed pleats, perfect length, fully-lined, and pockets…and under $25!!! WHAT?! It comes in tons of colors, I now own three.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 2, but would prefer my usual size 0.

Knit Fitted Turtleneck | Pleated Skirt | Pump

Same skirt, brighter color. But really, how fun is this pink? Such a cute combo for Valentines Day! I also love that the skirt is year-round…wear it bare-legged or with tights, dress it up for parties, or business it up for work. It’s just incredibly versatile, and so classic.

Knit Fitted Turtleneck | Pleated Skirt | Pump

Can we all agree that I try on a lot of clothes? And actually, you only see about 20% of what I try (I only share the best of the best). So it takes a lot to make me squeal when I find something new. I can tell you I’ve squealed very few times in the last few months…first was trying on the finished samples of the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Resort Collection #obvi, and second was this flutter sleeve sweater top.

I don’t know what it is, but I just love the fit, feel, and flirty little shape so much. It’s a crazy-good price, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 4-6, but it’s super stretchy so could have gone smaller.

Ruffle Sleeve Sweater Top | Pleated Skirt | Pump

This dress is simple, and classic, and a must-style for any woman’s closet. If you don’t have a go-to little black dress for work, basic events, meetings when you need to feel like a boss, or funerals (sorry, but you know you have to have a funeral dress ready to go in your closet!)…this is your dress. It’s a thick ponte knit with feminine a-line shape and flattering darts. Wear it with tights or bare legs, add a blazer or cardigan, simple jewels or snazzy ones…it all works.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but could have worn my usual XS, so don’t size up.

Ponte Fit-and-Flare Dress | Pump

I always have to find a cute pajama option for you, and these navy stripes with red trim were my faves. They’re mid-weight and sturdy, with a loose legging fit. I like the cuffs at the ankles to keep them from dragging the ground, and gives them a jogger fit. They also soften up with washing.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but I always go up one in pjs.

Striped Pajamas

And finally…let’s talk accessories! I found some unbelievable dupes that look and feel (they’re actually heavy!) like the real-deal. I’m pretty smitten with my entire arm-party I’ve got going on right now! The ‘love’ bracelet even comes with a little screwdriver!

Two-Tone Cuff | Watch | ‘Love’ Bracelet (I have the 6.7 in gold) | Cable Ring | Leopard Flats

So many fun finds this month! I’m often asked which pieces I keep for myself or which I deem the ‘best of the best’….for this post, my top picks are easily:

  1. The flutter sleeve sweater
  2. Colorful work & weekend skirt
  3. Lookalike bangle
  4. Softest cozy sweater
  5. Wear-anywhere fit-and-flare dress

As for our random Amazon buys this month, this rapid egg cooker is my new favorite kitchen gadget, I’m hoping this bag revolutionizes my toiletry packing, and I’m trying these in my coffee for a few weeks.

Hi Lori…the descriptor for each piece is above the photo, with links underneath. So the $20 sweater is actually the second one! the first one is more, but it’s very similar to a sweater that’s twice the price! xo

I live in cold, snowy Iowa and I can’t wait to see you in all your spring/summer fashion. It will be a long time coming here, but it’s fun to see all you Texas girls make the transition.

I had to laugh because my mom ordered the quilted pullover for herself on Amazon, didn’t love the fit, so she gave it to me. I LOVE it and with a few inches of snow this morning, I wore it to work. How funny to see you wearing the exact same one in this post! 🙂 It’s so comfy and everyone always wants to touch it.

Alas, all the cute sweaters I liked have wool in them (makes me itch like crazy … even lambs wool!). And the jeggings are gone in all sizes (I blame you … and all your other readers). The tutu in pink reminds me of Carrie on Sex and the City. She wore one in the title credits … The black one w/ ribbon belt and a snug black sweater would be very flirty…

Cassie – my deepest sympathies on the loss of your grandmother. She sounded like a lovely woman… I have my chunky earrings on today, so “earbobs” in honor of her! No matter how prepared you are for death, it hits hard when it happens. My friend says it’s the emotional elevator finally hitting the ground floor (after hovering for a while)… Keeping you and your family in thoughts and prayers… May God provide you with only the comfort and strength that HE can provide.
