Hi Sugarplum!

Christmas at Home | Our Front Porch

November 30, 2017

HISugarplumFrontDoorChristmas-52

Thanks for the love on yesterday’s Favorite Things post! I loved hearing what made your list, and thrilled you found some new goodies from mine. I also subtly mentioned to Mr. SP that he might want to check it out. #hint

Today I’m so excited to welcome the holiday season at home, and share our front porch all decked out for Christmas. And forgive me if it’s puppy overload, but I can’t help myself when it comes to these two! Plus, they’re kind of camera hogs.

The curb appeal is what drew me to this house first (see the whole house here), and I love welcoming guests with a festive front porch. Plus, it’s small, so it doesn’t take much! This year I decided to take advantage of the tall front door and decked it out with a trio of 24-inch wreaths.

Using brass thumbtacks, I attached a wide velvet ribbon directly to the door. The top wreath hangs from nails, and I bent wreath hangers to connect the other two. The whole thing is surprisingly sturdy and doesn’t move or swing when the door opens.

I found this fun doormat on eBay, and then fell down the rabbit hole of all their holiday decor! Did you know 81% of the items sold on eBay are new, and available as a ‘Buy It Now’? Sure there’s still tons of items you can stalk and bid, but there are countless listings (over a billion, actually!) of new decor, fashion, crafts…you name it…you can snag right now! It’s a great place to gift shop, too. (Use code PHOLIDAY10 for 10% off select tech, fashion, home and more!)

I ordered most everything here, and it arrived within days. And the few things that didn’t work out, I easily returned to the seller for a full refund.

Puppy Update: Do you see how big Mollie is getting?! She’s doubled in size in the month we’ve had her! She’s almost fully-housetrained (just an occasional accident when we aren’t watching her cues), and she sleeps all night (quietly!) in the Laundry Room. Little Miss is begging for her to sleep with her, but I don’t think we’re quite there yet considering she just chewed through the strap of my purse.

The rest of the house is just as festive and I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming weeks. Have you started decorating? What’s the last goodie you found on eBay? Did you know you can shop them for holiday decor, gifts, and more (like Hunter boots 40% off in all colors!)

I always envy the front doors of people who live in houses. It just seems so fun and festive to decorate the porch for different seasons! ❤

These are beautiful (& so creative!) portraits of you. I say print the one of you and the pups, or you and the new pup, frame it, give it to Mr. SP @ Christmas, for his office desk or nightstand. Beautiful! Gorgeous front door too. Nice job everyone!

Merry Christmas, your porch looks so festive! I think the photo idea for a Mr Sugarplum gift is perfect.
Quick question about the boots. Did they come in a real Hunter box or generic? They are a great price, almost too great & as they are being sold on eBay that makes me a little worried. You can get some neat things there, but it is also a marketplace used by many selling knockoffs. I know you have real Hunters to compair them to, do they seem identical?
    Thanks, Deborah

I didn’t order mine from eBay…but the listing will tell you if they are new in the box!! And it’s all money back guarantee, so if they don’t meet your standards you can send them back!! xo

this is GORGEOUS! One question..how did you attach the ribbon with the wreaths to your door (at the top.) Are the wreaths attached to the ribbon, or how/what did you attach your wreaths to the door? I can’t over how pretty it is and how photogenic you are!

Thank you, Colleen! The wide ribbon is attached to the door with thumbtacks, and then we used wreath hangers to hang the top wreath from the door, and then the other two wreaths are connected to the top wreath. I hope that makes sense!
