Hi Sugarplum!

{Valentine} A Treat of a Placecard

February 9, 2011

If you’ve been reading this blog awhile, you know I love creating Tablescapes, and with that comes a fun custom placecard. Even though our family of four sits in the same spot every night, having a placecard turns the everyday meal into a special event. (Even if take-out is being served!)

Start by making the standard Rice Krispie Treat recipe, then form the warm mixture into heart shape molds. Gently insert a craft or candy stick before the treats cool, reforming the heart-shape with buttered fingers if necessary. (TWSS, dedicated to Emily) Allow them to cool and set completely before handling.

I have a heart muffin pan, but you could just as easily press the mixture onto a cookie sheet or dish, and cut hearts with a cookie cutter once they’ve cooled completely. Tie on some ribbon and a personalized gift tag, and you’ve got a sweet treat of a placecard!

You could bag them up for guests to take home, or give to neighbors and teachers as small Valentine gifts.

If I’d had the supplies, I surely would have decorated them like Skip to My Lou:

Or smothered them in chocolate like Joy the Baker:

Twig & Thistle dipped just the tips in chocolate:
I realize this post was riddled with TWSS (That’s what she said) opportunities, but I’d like to think I’m maturing by only using it once. I can keep the inner 12-year-old boy at bay, but I can’t shut him up entirely!
Are you setting a special table for your Valentines…or do you wish I’d stop already with the Valentine posts!?!? Well too bad….I’ve got a few more up my sleeve! And I caved to more peer pressure, and joined Twitter too. There’s a handy little button in my sidebar if you’d like to listen in on my inner dialog. But proceed at your own risk…I can’t be responsible for any lost brain cells.
