Three Stripe Life

Happy new week, friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was spent on the volleyball courts, which was fun, but very sedentary! I found myself pacing laps around the building between sets just for the chance to move.

Of course I was wearing my weekend mom-uniform… leggings, hoodie, and adidas sneakers. And since we had a 7am court time, you know I was sporting a hat, too!

So fortunately I was dressed for both cheering from the bleachers, and getting in my steps! That’s what I love so much about all my adidas sneakers… they’re ridiculously comfortable and great for everyday wear, but still have that cool, sporty style I love. Those three stripes are synonymous with style and sport!

My love affair with adidas goes way, way back. In fact, the first really cool shoes I ever owned were green Stan Smiths in the 8th grade! I freaking loved those shoes, and I felt like they gave me a real cool-factor. (Spoiler alert: I still wasn’t cool, but my shoes were!)

They must have been too cool for school though, because someone stole them from my gym locker the second week after I got them!! Talk about devastated! And of course my mom wasn’t going to buy me another pair!!

I’ve worn a range of brands over the years, but I always come back to adidas. Their comfort, support, and style is spot-on, and whether I’m working out or chilling at the volleyball courts, I reach for them more than any other.

For running and high-impact exercises and activities, my hands-down favorites are the adidas Ultraboost. They provide tons of cushion, great support, and a comfortable, lightweight frame. They were definitely my go-to choice for Orange Theory classes on the treadmill, rowers, and all the side-to-side movement on the floor.

It took a little convincing (they’re definitely an investment!), but now Ultraboosts are all Mama SP wears for her daily walks, too! She loves the added stability they offer.

But for everyday dog walks, strolls around the neighborhood, or errands around town, I reach for my Edge Lux sneakers, or these super-sporty NMD shoes.

Taking elements from the Ultraboosts, but in a practically weightless style, the NMDs have a slip-on construction for easy, comfortable wear. Plus, they’re so cute with leggings and joggers. (Can we talk about this color combo!?)

Fit Tip: I size down half in all my adidas shoes

I don’t wear a lot of branded clothes, but the three stripes are synonymous with style and nostalgia for me. I love adidas’ sporty hoodies, jackets and tanks, and they make one of my favorite running shorts.

These leggings are a recent find, and I’m super impressed! (And you know I’m picky about my workout leggings!) They have great compression that help me feel locked-and-loaded, but aren’t constricting or a struggle to get on.

The 7/8 length is perfect for my 5’4″ frame, and there is absolutely no show-thru!

Fit Tip: The hoodie runs large, definitely size down (I’m in an XS). The leggings are true to size, I’m wearing XS.

And as if I needed more of a reason to love adidas, did you know they are passionate about sustainability and drastically cutting their carbon footprint? In fact, last year alone they produced over 15 million pairs of shoes using recycled plastic gathered from our beaches and oceans!

So we can look good and do good! I can definitely get behind that mission! Are you an adidas girl, too? Can you remember your first ‘cool’ sneakers? I don’t think I’ve ever fully recovered from losing mine!

I always thought Adidas were cool, then I learned the company founders were Nazis. The more you know.

Oh my goodness, that is startling! I did know that but is definitely something for me to look into. Based on my current research, new management is focused on global expansion, and the company’s values are rooted in sustainability, inclusion, and diversity! xoxo, C

My story is a stolen shoe one..my friend has two brothers. Younger’s shoes were stolen from the gym changeroom when he was in Grade 9. A couple of weeks later, older brother had a few friends at the house and younger noticed his shoes were in the pile. Much whispering ensued as the family decided what to do. Parents and younger brother went to older brother saying, “this is so awkward, what to do etc”. Older is like “No big deal…Hhey dude – you stole my brother’s shoes, what’s wrong with you?” Thief was all apologetic and left for home – barefoot!!!!
