Happy October, friends, and welcome back to a new week! We had a full weekend with a mix of fun and productivity. We began the exciting process of exploring colleges for Little Miss (can even you believe it?!), starting with a football game at my alma mater on Saturday! It’s too soon to tell, but TCU and Fort Worth showed us a good time!
I’m also happy to announce I unpacked the very last box! Well, except for the garage, but that doesn’t really count, right?! We’re waiting to have some shelves installed to complete.
My next step is to hang art and mirrors, which I know will make the house feel more complete. I’ve got lots of fun ideas swimming around my head, but I like to live in a space a bit before getting started on major decorating.
Sometimes spaces evolve and ideas change after you’ve actually lived in them, so I’m making myself wait. Fortunately we’ve got the holidays around the corner, so decorating for the seasons will be fun!
Today I’ve got a hodgepodge of new finds and latest happenings to share, so let’s get to this month’s This & That…
White After Labor Day //
Mr. SP and I attended our first En Blanc party last month… where everyone dresses in all-white, including the men. Lots of my friends wore fun headbands and fascinators, too!
The hosts had a long table stretching the length of their backyard, draped in white tablecloths, white flowers, and glowing candles. It was absolutely beautiful, even without a single pop of color, ha!

I wore this fun dress, and it was chic and festive!

WhatchamaCallit //
Little Miss is headed to Homecoming this weekend, and we found a beautiful dress at a super-fun store with the kookiest name… WhatchamaCallit! It’s truly a one-of-a-kind store, chock-full of the most fabulous and over-the-top dresses for pageants and events. And funny enough, I bought my prom dress here… waaaaay back in the day!
It Takes a Village //
I spotted this post recently, and it’s been hugely helpful in my approach with the kids. And if no one has told you lately, you’re doing a good job, Mom!
Morning Routine //
I discovered these peel pads earlier this year, and they’ve become an essential part of my morning routine. I cleanse and moisturize every night, but between oil, sweat, and leftover evening skincare product… just look at the pad the next morning!
I use these in place of washing again, and they leave my skin feeling so fresh, smooth, and clean. I follow with Sheer Renewal Cream, before applying my makeup.
Sidenote: I still use these Glycolic Peel Pads (code SUGARPLUM20) several nights a week! The Elemis pads are part of my daily morning routine to clean, refresh, and wake up my skin!

Oh hey, Walmart! //
Y’all… Walmart is absolutely killing the style game this season! Truly some of my favorite finds anywhere this season have been Walmart Fashion finds! Plus, the price points are so spot-on!

Happy Housewarming //
We said our final goodbye to our beloved house on Rosemont Drive last week. I was definitely feeling all the emotions, but we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the new owners a little… and they are as lovely as I’d hoped, so that’s made it so much easier!
We left a bottle of champs and this cool wine set as a little ‘welcome home’ gift for them. Such a fun gift idea, and under $20!
Sweet Child of Mine //
Y’all… we got the photos back from our family shoot in Maui, and this one truly brought me to my knees! Isn’t it so stunning, and such a cool photo idea? I’m definitely blowing it up to frame…the question is how big can I go before it gets creepy? I shared a few more pics from the shoot HERE… should I post the full session on the blog, too?
Most Asked Hair Question //
I’ve been checking in on Instagram in the morning lately… usually while curling my hair, and the most requested question is always about my curling iron! It’s an investment, but I switched to the 1″ ghd Curling Iron a few years ago, and never looked back!
It heats up in seconds and glides through my hair easily with no pulling or tugging. Plus, it curls so quickly I only have to leave my hair in it for a few seconds, which is essential for my color treated hair’s health! Find more of my hair posts HERE and HERE.
All About That Glow //
Tarte just released this new BB tinted moisturizer, and it’s quickly become my go-to daily foundation! It fills pores and gives my skin a velvety-smooth, airbrushed finish, and blends so beautifully! I add a drop of the Glow Screen for a dewy finish, and I’m crazy about the combo!
I apply them both together, and just use my fingers for a fast and easy application, perfect for everyday. Code CASSIE15 should save you on everything at tarte!

Pantry Love //
I may not have any more boxes to unpack, but the only space in the house that’s truly done is the pantry! And that’s thanks to the hard-working and talented team of SOS Home Organization! I knew I needed all the help I could get to make this move happen over a single weekend, and Annie and her team saved me! Do y’all want a full post of this space, and everything she used?

GLxHSP 2023 //
That’s right, friends! The Gibsonlook x Hi Sugarplum Resort Collection is coming in February! We wrapped the final design and fit last week, and I can hardly wait for it to arrive! It’s a small, but mighty, mini Collection of styles you’ll want for all your getaways this Winter and Spring!
Girl Boss Crushin’ //
I’ve had the honor of spending time with Maureen Kelly, the founder and owner of tarte Cosmetics, several times over the years… and I always walk away positively inspired and so in awe. She built tarte from the ground up 23 years ago, and her mission from day one has been giving back.
In fact, to celebrate her 50th birthday last month, she donated $50,000 to clear Teacher Wish Lists, and pledged to clear 1,000 more lists! I’ve got the same big birthday around the corner, and I’m so inspired to find new ways of giving back!

Warners did it again, with the launch of their better-than-ever Easy Does It Wireless Lift Convertible Comfort Bra bra…and I’m smitten! Y’all agreed, but were also smitten with this outfit, and the requests came flying in! Of course it’s all Amazon finds, and perfect for this dreamy early Fall weather.
Thanks for the love on this peek at our new porch, too! We’re decorating it for Fall now, so I’ve got more to share soon!

What a fun/funny post-luv it!
Ok, can we chime in on college ideas?? All college tours are super fun. Get a guy tour guide, they are always funny! But I say, do the tour of Cali colleges. Small or large (must determine this first, I think.) All are awesome, so are the parents. My pick= Chapman Univ. so perfect in every way!
And Mr. SP’s college back east/southeast.
The My Child of Mine photo-did one of you take that or a pro? So dang cool! Luv u guys! xo.
Hi, sweet Sandy!!!! The Sweet Child of Mine photo is from our family session in Maui this past summer! I mention in the post how freaking obsessed I am with them all! xo, C
I’m down for blingy holiday styles! I’d like to see jewel tones incorporated, since so many of the outfits I wear around that time are deeper bright colors. Crimson red, emerald green, etc. Can’t wait to see it! Also super excited for the resort collection!
Thank you for this input, Megan!!! It’s so appreciated! xoxo, C
Hi Cassie!
Wondering if you could share any thoughts on the college selection journey? I have a son the same age as your daughter. Though he is my oldest so this is all new to me!! Thank you Cassie!
Hi Sharon! I’d start by doing official tours of colleges near you, so you aren’t investing in travel just yet. It will give your son an idea of what a campus feels like. From there, they start thinking about what size, what kind of town, what’s important to them, etc. For instance, my daughter wants a really pretty, walkable campus and a school with a big sports program. She also thinks she wants to be within driving distance to home. So this gives us a jumping off point. Also, if your son has a specific degree path in mind, that will dictate schools. It’s also good to have some schools that he’s liable to easily get in, and a few that are more of a ‘reach.’ I hope that’s helpful! Have so much fun, going on these tours is such a fun family time! xo. C
That photo of your kids is a real treasure! I can see why it brought you to your knees.☺️ Just beautiful.
Thank you so so much, Kim!! xoxo, C
I would love to see your complete Maui photo session (or as many photos as you mind sharing!!)! What a wonderful photographer! As for Victoria Emerson, I’d love to see many pieces ready for gift-giving rather than all holiday bling! Best of luck in your new home! Can’t wait to see more and more finished areas and rooms. Good luck getting your doggie to do “his business” in one spot in the back yard! HAHA!
Thank you so much for the input, Sue!!! And yes, still working with the SugarPups on where they do their business, ha! xo, C
Love this hodge podge post! I’d love the year round favorites for the Victoria Emerson collection – just my 2 cents. 🙂 Great idea for gifts! And that photo of your kiddos is stunning! Thanks for sharing.
So glad to hear you’re liking my random ramblings 😛 And thank you for the input for the VE box, much appreciated!!! xo, C
I love these hodgepodge posts more than posts just dedicated to all clothing!
Have fun on the college search!
Thank you, Jen! That feedback is good to know! xo, C
Hello! What color do you buy in the Tarte BB cream??
Hi Amy! I’m a medium right now, but will lighten up for winter.
