Today I’m excited to share the latest outfit in my new weekly series, Summer of Style. And I’m convinced, this might be the cutest skirt I’ve ever worn! The colors make it perfect for Summer, and the style is great for both work and fun.

Midi skirts can be a little tricky, but the key to a flattering fit is finding the right length for you. My preference is for the hem to hit just below the widest part of my calf…where the leg starts to narrow. Skirts with a lot of movement are great for showing more leg, too. This sassy pleated number flows beautifully when I walk, and just feels so fun! Not to mention, on super sale!
Fit Tip: It runs large, so size down, and consider a petite if you’re under 5’5″. I’m wearing a 00P. Taller girls might like the petite sizing, too, for a knee-length fit.

You know my rule…it’s a good dress/skirt/whatever when it makes you feel like dancing!

I could have tucked my tank in, but a side-knot gives the outfit a bit more personality. (Read more of my outfit styling tips here.)
The white tank really lets the skirt shine, but it’d be so cute paired with a coordinating color, too. And if all else fails, add chambray! And sale alert…the skirt is currently 40% off, as are all new dresses! I just ordered this one, so stayed tuned for that in a Dressing Room Diaries soon! And every Sumer closet needs this dress…it’s great for running errands, lunch with the girls, and even over your swimsuit.

I love seeing all the ways you wear the items you share with us! The dresses you linked look wonderful but prompted a question – what sort of jacket (or second layer) would you be able to wear with a cold shoulder dress? I loved the ruffle back dress you linked, but think that would be difficult to layer. Summer gets tricky at times for me… it’s so hot hot hot outside, yet restaurants and shops are chilly with A/C… I always try to have a jacket on hand but am having trouble figuring out what to add to different outfits for that extra layer. Any chance you might consider doing a post about how to layer throughout the summer?
Always love your look, Cassie… thanks for dragging me (ok, punting me) out of my comfort zone into a prettier place! <3
Thanks so much, Alison!! I’m a huge fan of the jean jacket (in fact I did an entire 5 Ways around it!)…it works with just about every outfit, and perfect weight for chilly restaurants. I layer it over everything, regardless of the back, ruffle details, etc! xo
That skirt and those earrings make me HAPPY!
The skirt is beautiful! The colors look prettier on you than in the loft picture. Love the knotted tee with it.
That skirt is FABULOUS. Great pics!
You look gorgeous! That skirt is so pretty, I don’t know if I could pull off all those colors but you do it perfectly. I need a strapless backless bra for vacation, do you love the one you linked in this post? It gets good reviews.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Sharon!! I do love that bra!! It’s a game-changer since it works for virtually all kinds of tops and dresses!!!
Hello. Would you mind sharing how you tie your shirts in the cute little knot? Thanks so much!
Hi Kelli! I don’t do anything special…it was a pretty tiny knot for this one simply bc the shirt isn’t that long. I guess the key is to not pull the shirt off to the side or too tight, just loosely gather the extra material and tie it exactly where you want it. I like the knot to sit a little lower, too. Hope this helps!
I LOVE that skirt, Cassie! Such a great deal right now too! I wish LOFT had it in their maternity line! Your earrings are super cute too! At least earrings always fit, right? 😉
ha!! Yes, hard to outgrow accessories! 😉 xo
That skirt’s not my taste at all, but it does suit you and I’ve just realised that it’s your living and dining room put together! Definitely want to see photos of it in those rooms 😀
I love wearing midi skirts. They’re so much more comfortable than miniskirts!
