Summer of Style | 04

Blue and white is one of my favorite color combos for Summer, and I just can’t help but add a dose of red when it comes to all the patriotic holidays!

Sometimes it’s red sunglasses or a red belt, but for today’s Summer of Style, I borrowed a look from my daughter, her red bandana headband. A little different for me, but I feel like anything goes in Summer!

You may recognize this dress from a few years ago…I actually wore a very similar one on our Mediterranean Cruise. You guys went bananas over it and it sold out in a hot second.

I knew many of you still wanted it, so I was so excited to see J.Crew Factory brought it back in a new, updated print this year. And a little envious because I loved the new one even more than my older one! Until I made the mistake of leaving it hanging in the Laundry Room overnight with Mollie Sugarplum. RIP embroidered dress. So with my favorite embroidered dress now in several pieces, I had no choice but to grab the new one. Darn.

(Sidenote: We’re having separation anxiety issues with the pup, and chewing is her favorite coping method when left alone. Anyone have a direct line to the Dog Whisperer?!)

It’s such a great Summer dress, especially for the price! The embroidery is beautiful, it’s fully-lined and even has pockets! I love the knee length and lightweight cotton, too.

Fit Tip: It runs large, so size down. I’m wearing an XXS.

The dress is so easy to wear, and instantly chic. Plus, it always gets a ton of compliments. I’ll be wearing it for the Fourth of July, and all Summer long! Plus, the price can’t be beat! And while you’re at it, you need these shorts and this chambray.

So tell me, has your pup destroyed a favorite from your closet? Do you have any advice for doggie separation anxiety?!

  1. Absolutely adore the loose fit of the dress! The low-key print is really nice too, a hint of glam for summer! 🙂

    Cassie,

Have you tried a Thundershirt for Mollie? They work shockingly well for a # of things. I’ve used them w/fantastic results for Thunder/Storm anxiety (not groundbreaking I know!)… rescue pups who have been badly abused & neglected…fireworks…vet visits… separation anxiety- Definitely worth a try. I rescued a Golden Retriever that had a plethora of anxiety issues from abuse & as soon as his Thundershirt was on he would literally just slide down to the floor & chill out or go to sleep- he was SO RELAXED! You would think I had drugged him- I watched him on a puppy cam & he was like a different dog. ZERO anxiety issues w/it on. They immediately vanished Every. Single. Time!!
I’d come home, take it off of him & he was instantly back to “himself” a typical retriever—-full of energy, lots of love & excitement, etc…
I really can’t recommend them enough! A pretty easy & inexpensive solution that would hopefully bring everyone so much needed relief in your house…

Love this dress too!! It’s so cute and comfortable! This might sound silly but our dog had separation anxiety too and stopped chewing on things when we started telling him “I’ll be back and you be a good boy” and giving him a treat and extra loving right before we left.Silly to say it worked for us so give it a try, can’t hurt!!
Love following you and have a great day!!!

I am not a dog whisperer but I have fostered for different rescues and they all ask you to kennel the pup when you’re not home. I didn’t like putting them in a kennel at first, but it actually becomes their safe place and their comfort spot. My dogs (yes I ended up adopting) actually go into their kennel on their own sometimes. I keep it in our spare bedroom. Now that being said it hasn’t save ALL of my shoes because WHILE I AM HOME my baby will go into my closet and sneak one to chew on. It’s actually kind of funny when she does it because she will creep by you with the shoe in her mouth and then when she thinks she is home free she takes off running with it. I’ve managed to save some from her, but not all. On the bright side she is helping me to narrow down my shoe collection and I realize I didn’t need all those shoes anyway.

My sister just told me about something for dog anxiety – it’s like a small silicone mat that has grooves in it. You wipe peanut butter in the grooves (keep a separate jar just for the dog – well marked!) and they lick it. Licking is supposed to be very soothing for them.

I loved your older version of the J. Crew embroidered dress so much I found it on Poshmark a few weeks ago…so if you love it and don’t mind gently used, it’s still available! So cute!

    Hi Cassie,
Strange question but have you washed this dress or your old one? I have the old style one and (don’t judge!) I’ve never washed it because I’m worried about the blue dye running. I’d love to know if it held up for you!
