Hey friends…happy Friday! Or should I say, happy FOUR DAYS until Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Resort Collection Launch Day! I’ve been sharing sneak peeks over the last few weeks (see them all here), but trust me when I say, you haven’t seen anything yet!! Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook this weekend, as I’ll be sharing a new style every day as we do the final countdown to Tuesday’s launch!
And don’t worry, Monday’s post will tell you everything you need to know before the sale goes live online at Nordstrom! I want to make sure you have all the scoop, and the best chance to grab everything you want, so be sure to check in here.
We had a busy week on the blog, thanks for all the love on the Resort Sneak Peeks and Resort Ready posts, plus my more personal post about this year’s One Word. And don’t forget, if you’re looking to book your own warm-weather getaway, I can’t recommend our photoshoot location spot enough! Plus, it’s 20% off bookings for HSP readers!
Today it’s time for another round of Sugarplum Style, snapshots of my everyday outfits I share on Instagram and Facebook, created by mixing and matching items in my closet. I hope they inspire you to stretch your wardrobe further by mixing up what you already have, and thoughtfully add new things.
It’s been gloomy and cold more often than not, so my wardrobe has been a stream of jeans and sweaters, and either this coat or this jacket. This cardigan is soft and warm, and I’m a sucker for the stripes. The white jeans make an everyday outfit feel more fresh, don’t you think?
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS petite, the regular is a few inches longer
Long Cardigan | Tee | White Jeans | Sunglasses | Ring | ‘Love’ Bracelet | Cuff
Ready for love in this sweetest combo. The tank is actually sleepwear, but too cute to limit it to just nighttime! So many of you have messaged me about this soft pullover…I love that you love it, too! And you know how I feel about these sneakers. BEST. SHOE. EVER.
Fit Tip: I wear an XS in the tank, but sized up 2 in the pullover.
‘Amour’ Tank | Sherpa Pullover | Jeans | Sneakers
I love the preppy stripe and pop of pink in this warm turtleneck sweater. The cable knit pattern is so classic, too.
Fit Tip: I sized up to a small for roomier fit.
Colorblock Turtleneck Sweater | Jeans | Boots | Monogrammed Bag | Sunglasses
One of my favorite all-weather sweaters is finally back in stock!! This leopard is soft and stretchy, and a great mid-weight for wearing alone or layered. Super cute tied around the waist with a graphic tee, too.
Fit Tip: I sized up one to a small
Leopard Sweater | Chambray Shirt | White Jeans
I love the texture and pattern this herringbone vest adds to outfits…and, it’s soft and warm! (But not bulky). I layer it over most every plaid, plus solids and stripes. I reach for this plaid not only for the cute print, but the soft, brushed flannel feel. My sunglasses are legit Chloe dupes, and only $10!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS vest, but would prefer small.
Plaid Shirt | Herringbone Vest | Leopard Belt | Jeans | Sunglasses
Another pullover fave, this ruffle-trim sweater comes in a slew of colors, and is finally back-in-stock! I love it alone, and under jackets and vests. Earrings are a steal at $10, too.
Fit Tip: I size up to a small in the sweater for more room. The jacket is a closet staple for me (I have it in 4 colors!), and I’m wearing XS
Ruffle Neck Sweater | Twill Utility Jacket | Earrings
Many outfits never make it to my Instagram or Facebook feeds…I just post them on my Instagram Story. Do you watch those? This combo was the perfect dose of warm and cheery for a cold and gray day. I’ve had these boots for years…so warm and comfy!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS sweater and XS jeggings.
Striped Sweater | Jeans | Knee Boots
Usually I shed my coat for a photo, but this day was too frigid…even for a minute! (We usually grab these shots in under a minute…I never even look to see if I like it!) This sweater is the type you want to reach for daily…seriously so soft and cozy. (Earrings only $10!)
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS sweater and size 0 coat (it’s roomie for layering, so no need to size up).
Softest Turtleneck | Coat | Belt | Jeans | Sunglasses
Speaking of comfy and cozy…this outfit is pretty much a step up from pajamas. Stretchy leggings, softest fleece tunic, and light-as-air sneakers. The colder it gets outside, the comfier I want to be.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS tunic (I have it in several colors, it’s reversible, too!), XS jeggings, and rounded up to the next whole size in the sneakers.
Cozy Tunic | Jeggings | Sneakers
Case in point, this sweater is as soft, warm, and stretchy as they come…and yet somehow, only $20! But these black jeans and belt have a way of making every outfit infinitely more chic.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small sweater, jeans are true to size (wearing 26).
Softest Mockneck Sweater | Belt | Jeans | Cuff | ‘Love’ Bracelet | Earrings
My uniform for the entire Winter Break…favorite joggers and favorite sneakers. Do you have a pair of Allbirds? Weigh in on the comments…they are seriously incredible!! Where have I been that I’m just now discovering them?!
Fit Tip: Jacket, top & joggers all XS
Jean Jacket | Striped Tee | Jogger | Sneakers | Sunglasses
Layered up with all the patterns! This faux-fur vest is one of the most popular finds this season, and I love seeing all your pics wearing it, too. It’s crazy soft and the best shade of pink. I love the happy color, plus the texture it adds to outfits. So cute with leopard, solids, stripes, and chambray.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS in vest, sweater & plaid.
Faux-Fur Vest | Striped Sweater | Plaid Shirt | Jeans | Earrings | Sunglasses
Another day, another jean + sweater combo. See what I mean about the black jeans and belt though? Next level. These are hands-down my favorite black jeans in awhile. They hold their shape so well (no sagging knees or bums), and are still super-dark after countless washes. Not to mention, flattering and comfy fit.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing small sweater, and 26 jeans.
Softest Mockneck Sweater | Belt | Jeans | Cuff | ‘Love’ Bracelet | Earrings | Booties
Can a closet have too much pink? Never!! One of my favorite year-round sweaters, this lightweight merino wool is a great layering piece and comes in tons of colors (I have more than a few).
Fit Tip: I size up to a small in both the sweater and coat.
Crewneck Merino Sweater | Coat | Leopard Belt | White Jeans
And finally, these the most popular styles from my last Dressing Room Diaries (see it here).
Sherpa Pullover | Striped Sweater | Jeans | Boots | Ring
And the most popular from January’s Amazon Fashion Finds (see it here.)
Oversized Sweater | Fleece Pullover | GG Belt | Jeans | Boots | Sneakers | Cuff
That’s it for today, I hope you found some new outfit inspiration, and fresh ideas for mixing things up in your closet! I’d love to hear what new combinations of patterns or colors you’re wearing.
I had some requests to change up the layout of my posts…putting the descriptions after the pics instead of before. (Product links are always under each pic.) I’ve always done them before, simply because that’s how I prefer to read posts. I read the scoop, then check out the pic. Others prefer to see the pic and decide if they want to read more. Do you have a preference? I want to make these posts as easy to read and navigate as possible!
You can catch up with past installments of Sugarplum Style here, or follow my everyday outfits on Instagram. You can also shop my outfits anytime by clicking the Shop My Insta button under my blog header, or in the Shop menu of the navigation bar. Happy weekend, lovebugs! See you back here Monday for everything you need to know before the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Resort Collection launches January 29!
I like the description after the picture. I think that’s how we’re trained with textbooks etc in school. The description is below the pic. I often find myself scrolling around on your post trying to figure out where the info is for the pic I’m looking at.
I prefer your current layout- description before the photo. I can often see the description with the top of the photo which is helpful to me versus having to scroll back up to see what is being described.
I’m personally used to seeing the script above the picture. As a matter of fact, when my hubs did it the opposite way in our blog, I told him it was weird (he still does it Ha). Your blog was my first ever, so it’s possible I was just accustomed to your style. I wouldn’t leave you for it ;), but please don’t change it, as it would drive me crazy!!! 😀 (smiley face makes it all better)
Love it all, but love that pink and camel together the most!
I like your format. I dislike having to scroll back up to see the pic.
I think it’s easy enough to figure out either way, text above or below, but I like that the direct links are listed below. Can you link the tortoise earrings you’re wearing with the pink J. Crew ruffle neck sweater. The one linked is the Amazon circle tortoise with tortoise post and I really like the ones with the gold post and wider oval tortoise. Thanks!
Yes ma’am! Sorry about that…got going too fast and didn’t link the exact ones! Those are Bauble Bar: https://shopstyle.it/l/YHaU
Thank you!
Cassie, I’m wanting a white watch. Seems like I’ve seen a link to yours before, but can’t find it now. Can you give me some info on it?
Yes…mine is a Michele Sport Deco, I scored it 40% off at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I haven’t been able to find the exact watch since, but I’ll keep an eye out! I wondered how I’d like it in to the Fall and Winter, and I love it! I wear it pretty much everyday!
I prefer the current layout and also dislike having to scroll backwards to see the pic the description is referring to.
I agree with others that reading the description and then having to scroll back up to see the picture would be awkward. My vote is to keep doing what you’re doing!
Side note – when you posted Cyber Monday sales, I sent my husband a link to the pink pullover with contrasting collar from Old Navy. He gave it to me for Christmas, and I haven’t stopped wearing it since! Over the break I wore it every time I knew I wasn’t going to see the same people again. Thanks for the suggestion!
I love that pullover!! Thrilled it worked for you, too!
Love that leopard sweater and that fuzzy pink vest from J Crew (I already own it and love it!) So many cute finds. Happy Friday!
Would love your thoughts on the black joggers. Have been looking for a good pair for awhile and reading the reviews of the ones you posted, they are super mixed. Based on reviews….have you found them to be really thin/see through? Also, they are hand wash only..? Do you hand wash yours? Love your blog!! Makes online shopping so easy for this busy mom of three littles.
They are lightweight, but I don’t have any sheer issues with them. I also wash and dry them normally (on delicate).
Current layout! Have a great weekend with your family!
Your format is perfect. Very easy to follow. Thanks a ton for all you do!
I have always found myself scrolling your posts a lot trying to figure out which picture goes with the description. Sounds like I’m in the minority. I like to see the picture and then read about it so I have an idea of what you’re talking about. It obviously doesn’t stop me from reading your blog for recommendations, though!
I was trying to find the link you posted awhile back on the Collagen peptide powder you liked (from Amazon I think) but can’t seem to find it. Which one do you like best? And does it have any flavor? Some reviews are saying it tastes like beef broth🤢
Thanks!
Yes! I use this one, and it has zero flavor!! I add it to my coffee and it doesn’t change the consistency, texture or taste. https://amzn.to/2WmRNZd
What color lipstick do you have on in the picture with the herringbone vest? Doesn’t look like your normal pinks! It’s very pretty!
Always love your style and I’m looking forward to the Gibson reveal!
Hello!
Would you mind sharing the color lipstick you have on in the pic with the herringbone vest? Went to order the vest and noticed it is not one of your typical pink colors. It looks great!
thanks!
Thank you!!! That’s a new shade from Nars I just picked up, called Hyde Park: https://shopstyle.it/l/YZet
