Sugarplum Style, Vol. 20

Cheers to Friday, friends! First up, I have yet to recover from your overwhelming love and enthusiasm over our {One Room Challenge}!! Ya’ll blew me away with your comments, emails, messages and shares!! I knew I loved every square inch of the room, but also knew was pretty in-yo-face bold!

Kristin and I are beyond thrilled you love the room, and I can’t wait to share more with you! I answered questions in the comments yesterday, but will address most of them in next week’s full ‘Shop My Room’ post. I hated to leave you hanging without links, but I literally finished the post at the very last second, and just ran out of time…and brainpower!

Now it’s time for another Sugarplum Style…snapshots of my everyday outfits, created by mixing-and-matching items in my closet. And thanks to the sporadic weather, it’s a mixed-bag of seasons, too! But get ready, because this round is super-sized! I guess I was inspired by the Fall clothes I was able to pull out of hiding!

You may remember this striped cardi from a recent Dressing Room Diaries…it was defiantly a favorite. Unfortunately, it sold out, but my favorite wrap-cardi makes a very similar one, and it’s on sale!

Striped Cardi (similar favorite!) | Favorite White Tee | Distressed Jeans
Booties (similar on sale!) | Necklace | Leopard Cuff | Watch | Plaid Bag

I love the simplicity of Fall outfits…great patterned top, jeans, boots, and a necklace…done!

I can’t seem to get enough plaid this season, and especially love it layered under a sweater….perfectly preppy! But the leopard cuff and booties keeps it from getting too prim.

Oh look…Fall uniform again. This time with rain boots.

This one was in my {5 Ways} Easy Fall Outfits, and definitely one of my favorites. I love the mix of subtle patterns.

This dress has some serious mileage this season…you’ve seen it on the blog here and here already, so you can only imagine how much I’m wearing it in real life! When the weather cools even more, I’ll pair it with tights for a few more wears!

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

This outfit, also from my {5 Ways} Easy Fall Outfits post, is my favorite of the past month. I just love the unexpected pop of pink and crisp white…not typical this time of year.

Why I have the Weather Channel app on my phone…the unexpected shorts days! I couldn’t believe so many of you recognized the Tretorns….love their throwback vibe!

Textured Pullover | Jean Shorts | Sneakers | Watch | Bag

My second most worn item of the past month is hands-down this sweater dress. In fact, I’ve got a fun {3 Ways} coming with it! Last I checked, it was on sale for $15, so it’ll likely be sold out before I can even get the post together! I think I’ll scoop up another color at that price!!

Look who got a pair of Hunter boots for her birthday! Or rather, look who bought a pair of Hunter boots (when they were on sale), and told told her husband, ‘Look what you got me for my birthday!!’ Surely I’m not the only one who does that?! And I have to say…you know I’m a hardcore fan of my Look for Less pink boots, but these babies are worth every penny! So much more lightweight and comfy!

I was kind of pushing it wearing sandals this day, but at the beginning of each new season, I get a little nostalgic for the departing season, and cling to it a little longer than I should. That sounds weird. Like I need to get a life. But whatever, I got one last wear of my favorite Summer wedges before packing them away!

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style
Olive Blouse | Jeans | Striped Bag | Strappy Sandals | Necklace
Watch | Bracelet

There’s not a sweater style I love more than a chunky, fisherman’s turtleneck…and I already want this one in every color. So soft (not at all scratchy!), with the perfect amount of slouch and turtleneck. There’s something so chic about all these neutrals…yet not boring at all!

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

I got a little sassy on a Date Night with leopard heels and a big statement necklace. This blouse is a closet staple, for sure (and on sale!).

Speaking of Date Night Style…I wore this sweater dress for a lunch date with Mr. SP recently…and that’s coming to the blog soon, too! It was too warm that day, but I can’t wait to layer it over striped tops and tights. And can we talk about this bag? You know I’m a sucker for fringe and cross body bags…and this suede number is pure Fall perfection. It’s a great size with inside pockets, and I love the little bit of edge it adds to outfits.

Darn, it was rainy again. I was forced to wear my pink rain boots.

Like I wasn’t going to post this #SugarplumStyle pic….only the best one ever!! The darling Nate Berkus is the perfect addition to any outfit! It was so fun to meet him, and he was as charming, cute, funny, and perfectly crass as you’d hope. More so, even, if that’s possible!

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style
I hope these posts inspire you to create new combinations from your closet! The key isn’t to have more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in new and different ways. Of course, with all the amazing sales going on (like here and here), now is a great time to add staples to your wardrobe! #enabler

    • Ugh…tech problems are my nemesis!!! I'm not savvy in that area, but I've got a tech person looking into all of it!! I'm glad it seems to be working better of you now, though! xo

Your style is so much fun! Your clothes and your home have so much personality! I never would have thought to put a plaid button down under a sweater…genius! My style is kinda preppy but sometimes can be a little boring. Your blog has given me a ton of inspiration to jazz things up a bit.

I agree…Nate is the perfect accessory. Too cute! I still miss his daily talk show. Sigh.

  3. I am dying for a striped card but the ones you gave us are sold out. Any others?
Also, how does the purple sweater dress (lunch date with Mr. SP) fit? True to size? I have ordered a few dresses from Nordstroms recently that make me look like I have zero shape. Hoping to avoid that. Thanks!

    • That purple dress is pretty generously cut…I'm wearing an XS, and it's not tight. But of all the sweater dresses I tried, that's the one Mr. SP said wasn't like a potato sack…so it must fit enough! šŸ˜‰ As for the striped sweater, I linked a similar one under the pic. xoxox

  4. Cassie,
Plaid, gingham, and checks oh my!!!! I'm in heaven. I have never thought to wear my cluster pearls with a plaid shirt. Thanks for the brilliant outfit idea. This really makes me excited about organizing all my scarves and fall clothes so I can pull together some new looks.

I love those booties, but worry about taking care of light suede. How do you keep them looking so clean?

    • I've worn them pretty much non-stop for two months and they still look the same!? I haven't done anything to them…but I stay pretty much on roads and sidewalks…and don't wear them on wet days. xo

Cute outfits all around! My barnswallow and fig cowl neck sweater dresses came in last night, and they're going to be great with tights and boots soon. I wish they were softer, but they're still comfy!

    • Agreed! I wear a long tank under mine, but it's worth it for the price and overall cuteness of the dress! xo

Does Nate Berkus count as one of your three accessories? Definately cute! And yes, I do buy presents for myself and handed them over to my hubby for the next gift giving occasion. I've got a winter coat waiting for Christmas… And he's thrilled he doesn't have to shop!

  11. Hi i'm from south africa and we have summer now. I was wondering about the size of the shorts from j. Crew. I'm 5.3 and about 115 pounds.

    • I'm about the same size as you, and wear a 2 in J.Crew shorts.

Love all the outfit inspiration!! I just started buying at J. Crew and am loving the quality and looks! One question for you…how do you transition your purse/bag for every day? I would love to switch mine up more regularly but it seems if I put stuff in the pockets in a bag that it's too much work to be constantly digging all of it out and putting it into a new bag. Have you done a post on that in the past and maybe I've missed it?? Your ideas are super appreciated!! šŸ™‚
