Sugarplum Faves | My Top Five

Thank you so much for the love on yesterday’s Teen Style post! The kids read all your sweet comments and were grinning ear-to-ear. I love sharing them with you, and can’t thank you enough for embracing my family the way you do. Plus, I’m thrilled the post was helpful for some of you!

Today’s post is short and sweet, but packs a mighty punch. You know I think of y’all as girlfriends, and therefore, can’t help but share all my best finds with you. But sometimes I find things that I truly adore, but they don’t necessarily make their way to a blog or social media post.

Such is true about these five things…all too good not to share with my besties on the internet!

1. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I was first introduced to this miracle lip balm/mask by my friend, Suzie Moldovan, the professional makeup artist who transforms me for the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collections. Between the desert, Winter, and travel, I arrived in Palm Springs with dry, cracked lips. Not exactly the best base for all those bright pink lipsticks (see the makeup here).

After just one swipe of this thick balm, my lips already felt better. And by the next morning, no more chapped, cracked lips!! Everyone on the shoot was instantly obsessed with it, and we all had it ordered before we left. And even though it’s technically a sleep mask, it’s since replaced my lip balms for day, as well. I even add a light layer over lipstick for extra moisture and little shine. (Also here for my Sephora junkies!)

2. Bose Sleep Buds

You’ve heard me praise these noise-masking sleep buds before (in my What’s in My Carry-On Bag post, and also Tips for a Better Night Sleep), but my love for them has grown to unnatural levels. In fact, they’ve changed the way I sleep at home and travel so much, I worry what will happen if they ever stop working!

At first, I used them as a compact and convenient sound machine when I traveled. But I noticed I was not only sleeping extremely well in hotels, but I actually slept for several hours on long plane trips, too! (That never happens!!) So I tried them at home one weekend (along with this sleep mask), and slept for 11 straight hours! Y’all, I haven’t done that since college! I woke up feeling like a new person.

Between the eye mask and sleep buds, I can create my optimal sleeping environment anywhere, anytime. Yes, they’re pricey. Yes, it’s annoying they don’t play music. But I can honestly tell you they have been a game-changer for me, especially with a snoring hubby! (Find them here, too.)

3. Neutrogena Body Oil

Shortly after losing my darling grandmother, I spotted this body oil while wandering the aisles of the drugstore. I remembered she always had a huge bottle of it next to her tub (along with the body wash). As soon as I smelled it, I was instantly reminded of her, and quickly added it to my cart.

She always had the softest skin, and now I know it was this body oil! I keep it in the shower, and use it after I lightly towel-dry (while my skin is a still damp). It’s lightweight and absorbs quickly, while giving skin a light glow. Plus, the scent is fresh and subtle.

4. Face Razors

Yep, I’m completely obsessed with these little face razors for at-home dermaplaning! I know, you’re worried about shaving your face…but I’m here to tell you I’ve been using them for a year and there’s no Teen Wolf happening over here! These super-sharp razors scrape away peach fuzz (not the same as ‘real’ hair, so it doesn’t have the same follicle!), and several layers of dead skin…leaving behind the smoothest, brightest skin!

Makeup not only goes on better and looks smoother, but face serums and treatments are more potent. I use it all over my face, lip, and for stray eyebrows. But beware around your eyebrow tails and hairline…these will take away all the hair! I’ve tried several brands, but these Tinkles are the best and sharpest, which means no bumps or redness after using.

5. Trio Ring Set

I’ve worn these rings non-stop since getting them last month. I love the gold with subtle hammered finish, and the trio is fun to mix-and-match with other rings and wear on multiple fingers. They’re smooth on the inside, and super comfortable to wear. My grandmother wore a wide, gold cigar band-style ring on her right hand, so these remind me of her, too.
Okay, that’s my latest Top Five! I’m an avid over-sharer, so I hope you liked it! What’s something you’re sharing with your girlfriends lately?

See all of my Favorite Things from last year here.

  1. I love reading your reasons for making something a “top five” and am thiiiiis close to ordering the sleep buds. If they don’t play music, what do you have them play? Would they bother you if you’re a side sleeper? Good sleep is a unicorn for me so I’m really interested…. thanks, Cassie!

Oh, they connect to an app on your phone that has a bunch of sounds! so it’s like a little sound machine in your ears that no one else can hear!

They are totally worth it! I bought them a couple of months ago when Cassie first posted and it has saved my marriage. I sleep right through my husband’s snoring (which is really LOUD).

Cassie you saved my marriage! 😉

      • I ended up buying these… oh, wow! Another question: What sound do you use… and do you listen to them all night??

I love Warm Static (the most like white noise/fan IMO), and yes, I keep them on all night. I use the in-app alarm since I wouldn’t hear my other alarm! 😉

I’m not convinced about the face razors. Tell us more!

Haha, I might do a tutorial on Instagram Stories later today! I thought the at-home was too good to be true, so I actually had a professional derma plane facial done at a spa, and she literally did the same thing! But in fact, missed a few spots. Now I’ll spend $5 on my own razors! But definitely look into it because obviously I’m not an aesthetician! xo

When do you use the razors? Before or after you wash your face? Before or after you moisturizer? And how often?

So excited for this fun affordable beauty trick! Your blog is such a joy to read, always!!

You def want to use them on a clean face so no bacteria gets in your skin. I also only use each blade 2-3 times before tossing it (you want it super sharp). So I do it at night on clean skin before any product, then rinse my face in water, followed by my nighttime routine. And I use them probably every 2 weeks or so…basically when I notice all the peach fuzz coming back.

I purchased the Bose Sleep Buds last summer after reading your recommendation.
They are, by far, giving me the best sleep I’ve ever had. When a little stressed or anxious or hearing my husband snore, I would take a 1/2 Ambien! No need now. I fall asleep listening to the RUSTLE sound in less than 5 minutes. A great find that I’ve recommended to several friends.

I was basically going to write this same comment except that I use “downstream” instead of “rustle”. I was desperate for sleep when you first posted a review of the sleep buds here. Despite the expense, I went out and bought them pretty much immediately. And they are one of about 5 items I own that I would not hesitate to repurchase immediately if something happened to them. To anyone on the fence…just do it! You won’t regret getting them!!

PLEASE do a tutorial on those razors, I’m really curious!! Does your hubby give you funny looks for doing this? Cause mine definitely would! I’ve been getting so much dryness and flaking lately from my retinol and I’m wondering if the razors would help

LOL!!! Poor guy. I too am very curious about these facial razors. Is it something you can just quit doing if you realize it’s not your cup of tea? We are all pretty high maintenance as it is. Thanks.

For sure! Sometimes I go several weeks without using them again, and it’s as if I never started in the first place.

I bought the sleep buds and can attest to everything you said, they are wonderful! For some reason though I would wake up in the middle of the night and my ears were really sore, even using the smallest buds available so I had to give them to my husband. If I could figure that problem out I would rebuy them for myself right now. 🙁

Are you a side sleeper? Wondering if that’s why your ears were sore. I would love to get these but I am definitely a side sleeper.

I’m totally a side sleeper, as well. And sometimes I can feel a little soreness from wearing them, but nothing uncomfortable or enough to ever prevent me from using them. the trade off is more than worn it, in my opinion!

I LOVE my face razor! Gals, don’t be scared! I use mine probably every other week, to scrape off the peach fuzz and dead skin. It gives my face such a clean palate for makeup.

Hi Cassie! Did you purchase your lip mask from this seller on Amazon or on the Sephora website. Interested in trying but the reviews on Amazon is claiming that the Amazon product is a fake. Curious where you bought yours (the bottles do look a little different on the Sephora site vs. the Amazon one) Makes me wonder – Love your blog!

I bought mine at Sephora, but wanted to link the Amazon option too since it is a better price. It showed to be sold by the brand itself, so I felt comfortable. Might be better to stick with Sephora if you’re unsure?

I had completely forgotten until reading this but my Granny used that same body oil! Such a sweet memory. Also, I tried it in her tub one time when I was about 8. Let’s just say I didnt understand a little goes a long way. We had to SCRUB the tub afterwards so she wouldn’t fall!
