Hello, hello! Welcome back to a new week! I hope you had a great weekend and feel ready to tackle the days ahead.
Today I’m excited to share my latest Sephora Haul! Beauty, hair, and wellness have become popular topics here on Hi Sugarplum in the last year, and I’m thrilled you love chatting it up as much as me. I tend to stay extremely loyal to a product once I’ve fallen in love, but part of my job here is to find and share the latest and greatest… in both style and beauty.
So by popular request, Sephora Hauls have become a monthly series around here (see them all HERE). Not every product is a great choice for me, but some become new favorites and make it to my own must-have list. Since we’re at the year’s halfway point, I took a look back and was surprised by how many new things are now in my regular rotation.
Here are the things I not only finished, but have bought again! I tried to narrow it down to my Top 10, but a few were too good to leave out…so here’s my Top 12.
Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette | Drybar High-Tops Self Grip Rollers | Olaplex Bond Repair Trial Kit | Kosas Tinted Oil Foundation | NARS Orgasm X Cheek Palette | Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in ‘Pillow Talk’
Peace Out Acne Healing Dots | Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Scrub | Nécessaire The Deodorant | Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 | Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder | IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Illumination with SPF 50+ | Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Highlighter Wand
Tarte Fake Awake Nude Liner | It Cosmetics Lash Blowout Mascara | Benefit Gimme Brow Gel | Clinique Quick Longwear Eyeliner
OLAPLEX Hair System //
Surely there’s no surprise the OLAPLEX Hair System made the list!? It has completely transformed my hair, and repaired it like nothing else. It came highly recommended from my stylist, so I started with the No. 3 Hair Perfector…. a treatment mask I use 1-2 times a week. I noticed immediate results in the shine and texture of my hair, and after only a short time, I have less breakage.
Next I added the No. 6 Bond Smoother to my styling routine. It’s a leave-in smoothing creme that strengthens, hydrates, speeds up drying time, and cuts down on frizz. I can actually air-dry my hair with this product, and not end up a frizzy mess! I love that it’s not only helping to style, but repairing at the same time.
After these two products, I was a hard-core OLAPLEX junkie, so it was only natural I added the No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. Both smell incredible, and leave my hair so silky and manageable. It’s a little pricey, but a little goes a long way. In fact, I’m still on my first bottle with some of these!
This sampler kit is a great way to try the products out before investing in full-size. And I just spotted this new No. 0 Intensive Bond Builder Kit I’m excited to try!
Moroccan0il Luminous Hairspray
I’d been a long-time user of the Kenra Volume Spray 25, and while I really liked the strong hold for some styles, the nozzle always seems to clog, causing it to spray willy-nilly. I also like to have a lot of movement in my hair (especially now that it’s shorter), but the Kenra holds it firmly in place.
I’ve also used Aveda Air Control Hairspray, which allows for a lot of play and movement, but doesn’t provide much staying power.
Enter Moroccan Oil Luminous Hair Spray, which is really the perfect blend of the Kenra and Aveda formulas! It provides a strong hold that leaves no sticky residue or stiffness on the hair, and the flexible formula keeps hair looking natural and touchable. I love the fine mist that makes it easy to get in all the areas of my hair, and so far no clogged nozzles!
And bonus, it’s argan oil-infused, so it adds shine, while fighting frizz and humidity. I switched to the Medium hold, and it’s the perfect formula for me.
IT Cosmetics Lash Blowout Mascara
I stumbled on IT Cosmetics Lash Blowout Mascara last fall, and am so impressed (and hooked!!), I’ve already gone through countless tubes.
Both my mom and daughter have switched to it, and we literally can’t stop singing its praises to friends. I love the wet formula that glides on smoothly with no clumps, easily coating every lash from root to tip. It also contains biotin, which strengthens the lashes and helps them to grow longer without breakage!
Using the DryBar technology, they designed the wand to create beautiful separation, lift and volume, while the IT Cosmetics formula is clump-free and flake-free! The pigment is super saturated too, so lashes are extra dark. My only tip if you like multiple coats, is to layer while the product is still wet on your lashes.
Tarte Fake Awake Eyeliner
I learned this trick from the pro herself, Suzie Moldavon… and it’s become an essential part of my daily makeup routine! Adding the Tarte Fake Awake Eyeliner in ‘Universal Nude’ to your lower waterline is a makeup artist trick for instantly bigger and brighter eyes!
It neutralizes any redness, and highlights the eyes making you look instantly more awake. The tug-proof, long-wearing formula glides on smoothly, and aloe moisturizes eyes. You can even apply it to the inner corners and brow bone for more highlighting, and use the built-in smudger to blend.
Trust me, once you see the difference, you’ll never skip this step in your makeup routine again!!
Nécessaire The Deodorant //
My hunt for a more natural deodorant has spanned the last year and included several products. None I liked enough to buy a second time, and definitely not enough to recommend to you!
Until now!! I’ve finally found a natural deodorant that works for me! I’ve never tried Nécessaire products before, but know they have a fanatic following, so I took a chance on the new Nécessaire The Deodorant, and I’m so happy I did!
It’s a creamy formula that twists up and requires very little product. It goes on white and creamy, but dries after a few minutes to a clear powder texture, with a eucalyptus scent that reminds me of being in a spa. While no deodorant, natural or otherwise, is 100% effective through tough workouts or Texas heat, Nécessaire The Deodorant works as well as any natural deodorant I’ve ever used!
It took me a few applications to get the amount right (it comes out fast with more than you need, so just a small twist does the trick!), but I love how quickly it dries with no stickiness. It sells out quickly, so grab it now while it’s showing in-stock!
Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Highlighter Wand //
Little Miss is highlighter-obsessed… teens are all about that glow! She got me hooked on this little magic wand, and now it’s a battle to keep it in my bathroom drawers!
The Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Highlighter Wand is a powdery gel formula that adds subtle glow and highlight anywhere you want, with a built-in, easy-to-use sponge tip applicator. I add a little to my cheekbone, down the bridge of my nose, and even my Cupid’s bow and the corners of my eyes.
The little sponge makes it so simple to add a little pop anywhere. Depending on the amount of product on the sponge, it does require a little blending, but I just use my finger.
Drybar High-Tops Self Grip Rollers
My love of velcro rollers goes back decades (geez, that makes me sound ‘mature’!), but it’s only in the last year or so that I’ve brought them back to my regular routine. They smooth the top layer of hair, while providing tons of volume at the crown… and all without additional heat!
Drybar High-Tops Self Grip Rollers roll easily into my hair and stay in place without clips or clamps, then remove gently without pulling or tugging any strands. Immediately after blow-drying, I roll small sections of warm hair up and away from my face, and set the rollers on top. Usually I place just a few at the crown, but I’ll add rollers to the sides, too, for more overall volume.
I’ll let my hair cool and set on the rollers while I finish getting ready, then pull them out at the end. They not only give great volume, but add a nice bend to my ends.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in ‘Pillow Talk’
Remember the trick Suzie taught us about over-lining just the Cupid’s bow to bring back that youthful, bee-stung lip? (See it HERE.) It’s one of my favorite tips she’s shared (along with brightening the lower waterline with this highlighter), and I do it pretty much every day! I just love the effect.
You can achieve the look with just lipstick, but it’s much easier with a lip liner… plus it stays put longer. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in ‘Pillow Talk’ because it’s a great neutral that pairs with all my bright pinks and reds.
It goes on smooth and creamy, not waxy at all, but has a matte finish which is a perfect primer base for lipstick. It has slight pink undertones to the nude shade, so it matches my lips almost identically so when my lipstick wears off I’m not left with an obvious outline. I’m thrilled to have a single liner for all my lipsticks!
Shiseido Eyelash Curler
My whole life I thought all eyelash curlers were the same. I mean, an eyelash curler is an eyelash curler, right?! Nope! The Shiseido Eyelash Curler delivers an intense curl that instantly opens the eye. In fact, I have to be careful with over curling them!
The edge-free design reaches every single lash, even those tiny ones on the ends. It’s gentle and safe on the lashes with no pinching, and curls them from the base to the tip. No wonder it’s a cult favorite and an Allure Best of Beauty winner!
Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve
Our faces may be benefitting from staying home, but the constant hand-washing is wreaking havoc on our hands! I’ve tried a slew of hand creams over the years, but none have come close to the healing and moisturizing of Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve.
This thick, rich cream was created to repair the appearance of severe dryness caused by manual labor, neglect, or exposure to harsh elements, so you know it’s effective against constant hand-washing! It allows skin to draw and absorb water from the air, forming a ‘glove-like’ protective barrier against moisture loss. It’s instantly soothing, rubs easily, and absorbs quickly.
The eucalyptus gives it a slight medicinal smell that I love, and feels like actual healing, rather than just temporary hydration.
OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Creme //
Possibly one of the best eye creams I’ve tried yet… the Banana Bright Eye Creme does the work of several products! The thick and creamy formula goes on easily and absorbs quickly, leaving the under-eye area extremely hydrated and plumped.
It also has special pigments that instantly brighten and color-correct, plus it creates a smooth canvas for better concealer wear. So hydration, anti-aging, color-correcting, brightening and makeup-base all in one! That’s a power combo for a single eye cream.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo has been my BFF for years, and is getting even more play these days considering the longer times between root touch-ups. Oils in my hair just enhance my dark roots, so I’m using dry shampoo almost daily.
Drybar has been my go-to choice for a few years, but I was hearing so many things about Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo, I had to try it for myself! Both do their job well, but the biggest difference for me is the texture of each spray. The Living Proof is a fine mist, while the Drybar is a bit thicker with a slight ‘powdery’ finish.
Since I’ve been using dry shampoo almost daily, I find myself reaching for the finer formula of the Living Proof more often now, and am already on my second bottle this year.
Sugarplum Tip: Not sure about a product? Order the smaller, travel size to try it out. That way if you don’t love it, you didn’t make as big of an investment, and if you do love it… order the full-size and keep the small one for travel!
Okay, so these are my best of the best from my Sephora Hauls so far this year… are any of them on your must-have list? What should I try and review next? I’m intrigued by this Sephora Collection Clear & Cover Acne Treatment, a concealer that also treats the blemish! This Briogeo Mega-Moisture Hair Mask looks like a good one, too!

I know you’re all about the Olaplex for your hair nowadays…but do you spend any time in your pool? Wondering if you like anything specific to wash out the chlorine? I’ve been using the Malibu Swimmers Wellness, which I really like…but always on the lookout for better options!
But speaking of Olaplex, the No3–how much do you need to put on your hair? I put a good amount (more than I use for shampoo or conditioner) but don’t feel like it was magical, like many reviewers have stated. Wondering if maybe I didn’t use enough?
I don’t get my hair wet in the pool regularly, but when I do, I wet it with fresh water first so it doesn’t absorb as much pool water. Then I make sure to use a hydrating mask on it afterwards to avoid overdrying. As for the No. 3, I apply it by section and comb through to coat my whole head, concentrating on the bottom half/ends. It’s not like a hydrating mask where your hair will instantly feel shiny/silky, but rather it’s repairing your hair from the inside-out. It may take several applications before you start to notice a difference.
You converted me to the Blowout mascara but I’m wondering about the $5 mascara you’ve shared recently on the blog. Which do you prefer? $5 sounds too good to be true, but I’d love it if it really is as wonderful as you report… More $$$ in my pocket for the upcoming Nordy sale.
I adore the blowout mascara, but honestly, it’s hard to go wrong with the $5 amazon one!! The IT Cosmetics wears better longer, with no flaking or smudging. The Amazon doesn’t wear as long, but looks incredible on!
Hi, I love the fake awake. It’s great. I got the Kosas face oil and think it’s kinda meh. A few weeks after I bought it, I tried the Color Pop tinted moisturizer at Ulta. Now, I always reach for that first. It provides great coverage and has a great range of shades. The Color Pop also mixes well with other products. The Kosas has gone to the bottom of the drawer. Thanks for the reviews!
The Kosas is def a unique product, but I’m thrilled you like the Fake Awake!
This is a FABULOUS post!! Clear, concise and a culmination of testing! ❤️ You always wonder, which ones ended up being favorites?! Well, you took the guess work out and narrowed it down for us! Thanks!
I’m thrilled to hear it, JJ! xo. C
Thank you for doing so many try before you buys for us! Saves me money and time. I’ve been undecided about changes lately, this came at the right time for me.
I too am so tired of the Kenra Clog! I was going to try Matrix, but now I will try the Moroccanoil first.
I’ve been debating between the Opalex hair products and the Colleen Rothschild hair mask. I have very fine, straight and now thinning hair. Have you tried the CR? You like the Opalex better?
I am going to try the Olehenriksen eye cream. I use CR skin care but have never thought much of her eye creams.
Thanks!!
I’m thrilled you like the posts, Paula! I’ve not tried the Matrix, but have been happy with Morrocanoil’s hairspray! I’m not a fan of the CR shampoo, but do love the hair mask. It’s mostly a hydrating mask, where the Olaplex is more reparative…so definitely room for both in your routine. I love CR retinol eye serum for nighttime anti-aging, and love the Olehenriksen brightening eye cream for daytime hydration and brightening! Hope that helps! xo. C
I always enjoy your blog! I am very interested in trying out the Dry Bar Velcro rollers. Maybe some day in a future post you could provide a tutorial on styling your hair with these rollers.
Thank you for your wonderful posts and like you, I am trying to stay calm as we gravitate back to this uncertain school year!
Thanks so much, Mary! Immediately after drying my hair, I brush small sections on the top and set them in the rollers…going away from my face. I leave them to cool for several minutes before taking out and running my fingers through. They give so much volume wherever you place them!
