Some of you long-time readers are thinking, ‘She still hasn’t finished that room yet?!’ Um, no…no we have not. #inserteyeroll We’re still putting the finishing touches on Little Miss’s space, but the problem with taking three years to finish a room (especially an almost-12 year old’s room!), is her styles and ideas change about 100 times during that period!
Obviously I’m not going to give her a new makeover every time inspiration strikes, and we’ve stuck pretty close to the initial design board, and thanks to some recent eBay scores, we are almost done!
You may recall we had the cutest pom-pom trimmed duvet set on her bed (see it here), but unfortunately kids, washing machines and pom-pom trim don’t mix well, and over time we had more pom-poms on the floor than we did the duvet. Obviously the new set needed to be a little sturdier, and preferably a style she wouldn’t outgrow a year from now!
We both fell in love with this darling polka dot Kate Spade duvet, but I hesitated because I know her stuff can be pricey…until I remembered eBay! Another big step towards room completion is the ceiling!! We finally found the right shade of blue, and had her pitched ceiling painted in her color of choice. It’s a fun, unexpected surprise, and really accents the tall ceiling.
I love that its such a happy space, and perfectly suits her personality. Our last hurdle is a desk area and corralling her snow globe collection! Happy Valentine’s Day, lovebugs!
