{Where We’ve Stayed}
// London Hotel //
The top-floor apartment was perfect for our large bachelorette party, as there was plenty of room for everyone to lounge, sleep and get ready. The staff and lobby bar were very nice, and the location superb. This hotel is the epitome of city cool, but you’ll pay for it.
// Dream Hotel Midtown //
This trendy little spot has fairly large double rooms by New York standards, and a great location.
// The Hudson Hotel //
Chic boutique hotel with beautiful rooftop views, courtyard bar & restaurant, and tons of InstaGram-worthy nooks throughout…but the world’s smallest rooms. Seriously, like postage stamp sized.

{Favorite Eats}
// Minetta Tavern //
Easily the best hamburger of my life. And the restaurant just feels like New York.
// The Polo Bar //
One of the hardest spots to get in, but it’s not a night you’ll soon forget. It’s like being inside a Ralph Lauren catalog, with handsome servers, delicious food and celebrities.
// Otto //
Bustling, casual, delicious. Order the cheese sampler with apricot & cherries, and you’ll die happy.

Are you the ‘Live in New York’ or ‘Visit New York’ type? What are some of your favorite eats and experiences? See more of our travels and tips here, and all my packing tips can be found here. Happy weekend, lovebugs!
I'm more of a visit NYC person but would have loved living there before kids… I think I would have loved it at least! Or maybe I've seen You've Got Mail one too many times 🙂 love those booties! I keep eyeing them. The driver doesn't look too impressed with the picture lol have a great weekend!
Ha! I guess that's his 'I'm being professional' expression! 🙂 I adore those booties…so comfy, too. And now I need to watch You've Got Mail this weekend!!!!
Not to yammer on about the Upper West Side, but 'You've Got Mail' showcases the the best of the UWS; its exactly how it is in the movie, except the The Shop Around the Corner is now a dry cleaners. 🙂
Cassie,
You always look beautiful and stylish. As I have told you before I am a more season gal, but can always modify the look to suite my age. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks so much, Judy! I'm thrilled you find inspiration with the posts!!
I enjoy your posts everyday as I sip my coffee at work and prepare to start another day… I LOVE NYC and miss the days when I would travel there for work on a regular basis. Next time you are there I would highly recommend the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. It is affordable and such a great slice of history and learning, not just about New York but the immigrant experience in the US. The Best… and I have been to that city hundreds of times. Plus I know a great Chinese restaurant not far from there that is mighty delicious as well.
I'm thrilled I get to help you procrastinate your work day! 😉 I've added your spot to my list for next time…NYC is a treasure trove of cool, hidden spots!
I love your bag. Where did you get your actual bag?
Thanks Tracy! Which bag are you referring to? If I put a (similar) next to it, that means mine is no longer available. I hang on to stuff for YEARS, so I can't always link the actual item. Happy Friday! xo
Seriously, could you be any cuter?! You are so photogenic! I think you should ditch your day job and become a model! I love seeing your stuff – and how you make it practical enough for us carpool moms to wear! Keep it up! Can't wait to see what you share next!
You are too sweet, Holly! And trust me, there are waaaay more bad pics of me, they just don't make it to the blog! 😉 xo
I would LOVE to go to NYC!!
Stupid question…who is taking the photos of you in this NYC post? Do you hire someone there or just ask people??
No such thing as dumb questions…I love them all!! I just hand the camera to whomever I'm with, and say 'snap a few as I cross the street or stand her please!' There's no staging or posing, just crossing our fingers and hoping some come out! ox
I am totally a 'live in NYC' kind of gal; the Village or Upper West Side is the only place to be! The UWS is more residential and family oriented; you see families with kids on scooters going to school, doing errands on the weekends and the kids seem well adjusted to city life. Still has the vibrancy of downtown, but minus some of the touristy craziness. We stay at the Hotel Beacon on Broadway between 74th/75th. Our trip in two weeks will be our fourth in a year and a half! Love the subways, love walking two blocks to Central Park and Strawberry Fields (very moving if you're a music lover). LOVE Jacobs Pickles on Amsterdam for some Southern food with a twist; Fried Chicken and Waffles…yes, please! For Italian food, Celeste is a teeny, tiny spot across the street from Jacob's; it has the best Gnocchi this side of Florence.
Ground Zero is very moving and a must see. We went on a bitter cold day last February. It was Valentines Day and someone had set up a floral wreath for their wife; tears are mandatory. The 9/11 Museum was not open yet, but we will be going in a few weeks. It's a tragic reminder, but it warms your heart knowing that the city has done an unbelievable job in preserving the memories of those lost. Pass me the Kleenex…
I want to go to NYC with YOU!!! I'm totally saving all these tips for our next trip!! Thanks for all the great recommendations, Gail! xo
Loved exploring the city with you (even though it was too short!)
My person xo
Im the never go to New York type hahaha. There's nothing about it (except food) that interests me. We recently moved from a city of 750k to a municipality of 20k and the idea of that many people crammed in a small place really wigs me out (as does Uber, you're braver than I ever will be). Do you bring multiple bags per trip? And I have to ask, is that dog mid-accident?
It's definitely nice to come home, that's for sure! Nope…I'm a single rolling carry-on girl…see my packing posts for tips! And I think the pups were just all saying 'Hi!';) xo
LOL, I noticed the dog also Nicole! I searched the comments to see if anyone else would ask. Sorry Cassie – probably just the picture! 🙂
Since I know I'll never be a "live in NYC" person, I'll settle for visiting at least every year! I'm intrigued by the Mario Batalli tours…been to several of his NYC restaurants (including Otto's on a girls trip). I also highly suggests "Foods Of New York" tours. Truly awesome. So much to do and see there and I'm jealous you've been three times this year.
Cassie, my hubby and I are definitely city people though we now raise our kids in the 'burbs. There is an energy that is irreplaceable. Each year we load up the troops and go into the city (hubby still works there every day) to hopefully get them into the fun of the city too. Neither of our families really likes it though. I will say, as much as we both love NYC, neither of us could live there. We lived in Chicago when we were single and dating and LOVED it. NYC is just a *bit* too big for us, Chicago is perfect and also closer to family.
One more thing, I was waiting at the OB for one of my last visits before baby #3 and I saw you on the cover of Redbook!!!! It's crazy because I've never met you but even I felt famous for a minute because I felt like my "friend" made it on the cover of the magazine in my doctor's office!! Crazy online world! Anyway, you looked great as always and I am excited for you. Hope you have enjoyed the ride…and you'll enjoy those tacos this weekend! 🙂
Ohmygosh….I love it!! You are so sweet!!! You can't even imagine how many copies we bought, and every single time Mr. SP would open the page to the cashier and say 'That's her! That's my wife!' But hopefully you don't think of vaginas when you think of me now, seeing as how you were at the OB. 😉 xo
Definitely visit the city type, but I love staying over to feel like I'm living there for a few days. We're going next weekend to see a show and be tourists!!
Your street style is my favorite! You totally pulled everything off so effortlessly!
My last NYC trip was for a friends 40th. She found out about this fun speakeasy PDT bar (please don't tell) in East Village that was a fun little surprise. Reservations are required and you have to enter through a phone booth in an adjoining hot dog joint but once inside the drinks were fun, cheesy tator tots to die for and it was just a fun little off the beaten path place to check out.
