Happy Monday from beautiful Montana! We had such a great time up here last Summer, we decided to come experience it in Winter…and wowza, is it gorgeous! My sister and her darling new husband are hosting, and showing us the best time. I’ll be sure to report back here, but you can follow along now on Instagram.
Now let’s get down to the business of today…if you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, then you know I’m a color-lover…both at home and in my wardrobe. If it’s true what they say, that clothes reflect the woman, then it’s safe to say I’m a colorful person! Or a striped person. One of the two.
Although I can definitely appreciate the look of classic neutrals, either paired together, or just a single hue from head-to-toe. And even though I lean towards pops of color, there is something so classic and effortlessly chic about combining warm neutrals.
So I challenged myself to create a {Five Ways} post featuring all neutral outfits! That’s right, not a pop of color in sight! Except my lipstick, that’s always bright! #nativetexan But by combining shades, textures, and pattern, there’s not a boring outfit in the bunch.
Usually for these {Five Ways} I combine all five looks in a monster post, but in effort to spend some quality time with family, away from the computer this week, I’m splitting it into one outfit each day. A week of Neutral Styles…can you dig it?!? Plus, since my son has become so interested in photography, I hated to cram all his shots in a single post.
The first neutral look combines shades of gray and camel, and the pop comes from the stripes, and pairing them with crisp white.
I grew up thinking you can’t combine black and brown, or black and blue…but in truth, you can combine any colors, as long as the hues and intensities don’t clash, but create contrast. For instance, instead of chocolate brown boots with black jeans, I’d wear light taupe boots with black jeans. Nor would I wear a navy blue tee under a black blazer, but rather a pale blue with the black.
Do you spy a Little Miss photobomb? Style shoots have become a family affair around here!

Style Tip: Absolutely wear white, especially white jeans, in Winter. Here’s {Five Ways} White Jeans in Winter for some inspiration.
I had so much fun shooting this week’s styles with my son, and can’t wait to share them with you. I was actually surprised by how easily I assembled all-neutral looks, not to mention, how much I loved each one! What are your favorite neutral shades to combine? Hopefully this week’s posts will inspire new ones for you!
