Fall Transition | Peplum & Camo

Hello friends, and welcome back to a new week. I don’t know about you, but we spent the weekend glued to the news channels, desperately watching Irma’s path, and devastated by her wrath. We have family in Sarasota that stayed put, so we’re very anxious for them…as well as, all our friends in our beloved Anna Maria Island,ย Sanibelย and Miami Beach.

It’s unfathomable that we’re watching this unfold just two weeks after Harvey, and on the anniversary of September 11.ย It feels strange to continue work as usual with all this going on, but if you’ve been impacted by these events, just know we’re praying for you, and anxious to continue helping however we can. I know the Red Cross is a great place to start, as they’ll likely be one of the first groups to respond.

This week is an all-new Five Ways Series, this one dedicated to the tricky transition to Fall. Plus, you get a double-whammy because I’m sharing a Now & Later with several of them, too! Starting today with the cutest little peplum tee and distressed jeans.

Some of you might be in full-blown Fall weather already, but it trickles in slowly for Texas…we’re likely months away from boots and sweaters. But when the calendar reads ‘Fall,’ we want to dress Fall…so the first step is adding long sleeves, but still pairing them with sandals.

This tee is soft and lightweight, and comes in several fun solid colors and stripes. I’m long-torsoed and it hits me at the right spot (some peplum can look maternity if cut too short).

Fit Tip: It’s true to size, I’m wearing an XS.

These sandals were my go-tos all season…they go with virtually everything from shorts to nice dresses…and make even the most basic outfits more chic. I’ve had this Barrington tote for years (you know I’m a huge fan of the brand!), and it’s only getting better with age. It’s great for everyday, but also holds everything I need for a travel carry-on. (Use code SUGARPLUM10 for 10% off your total order!)

Fit Tip: I sized up half in the sandals to accommodate my high arch. Otherwise, they’re true to size.ย

So how about (hopefully) a month from now when we have true Fall temps? I’ll simply swap the sandals for booties, and add a light jacket. I’m a forever-fan of military jackets, and this camo version kicks that up a notch! I’ll pair it with solids and stripes, jeans and dresses, and the price point is such that you’re not making a huge investment in a trendier piece.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, but would recommend sizing up if you’re in-between.ย

Sugarplum Style Tip: Nevermind the old adage that your shoes must match your bag…your outfit is actually more interesting if they don’t. And if you’re adding just one pair of booties to your wardrobe, you’ll get the most mileage out of taupe!
