How is it already Monday?! Ugh, I can’t believe the weekend flew by so fast! Mr. Sugarplum was out-of-town, so the kids and I had a lot of lazy, couch time together. We all share a major sweet-tooth, so we took advantage of a rainy afternoon to bake cookies, too. And since it’s Halloween week, we made them as big and gluttonous as possible!
First we rounded up all the candy and extras we had on hand…like mini-peanut butter cups, candy corn, pretzel M&Ms and chocolate chips. And I always bake with real butter…if I’m going to eat a cookie, it’s going to be the real deal!
Then we added a cup of each candy to the dough of my favorite cookie recipe, and piled them up extra-big.
Git in mah belly!
I will warn you, the candy corn tastes divine when it’s all melty, but it makes a hot-mess of your cookie sheet. You know the topping on a candy apple? Like that! And to keep myself from eating every last one, we bagged some as treats for teachers and friends.
I simply stamped white paper bags with Halloween shapes, and tied them closed with tulle ribbon. Since the cookies are so jumbo, a single one makes a sweet gift.
I think adding Pretzel M&Ms is my new favorite thing…sweet + salty = perfect cookie!
Do you like your cookies simple, or jam-packed with everything in the house? I guess it’s officially the holiday season for us now!
omg YES! love big monster cookies 🙂 xo jillian – cornflake dreams
Genius idea on the candy corn!! Love me some monster cookies-growing up my mom made them all the time!
Those look deadly! Amazing photos Cassie!!
Thanks Lauren — and thank goodness for tripods!
Oh yum! These look absolutely amazing!
Devil-woman, now you have me ready to bake cookies for breakfast! I am with you on the real butter, too And not just for baking – I slather an embarrassing amount on just about anything that will stand still for long enough for me to grab a butter knife.
Real butter and real cream…that's all we use. Surely it's better in it's purest form, right?! #rationalizing
What a great idea to pass some along to friends! Those look extra-yummy!
Yum!!! I need to bust out some baking with the kids. Especially now that chocolate is back on the table. Woot woot. Happy Monday.
OMG Those look insanely delish. Can't believe Halloween is right around the corner!
Right?!?! EEEEEEKKKKKK! 🙂
This is my first time commenting, although I've been reading your blog for several months. I finally realized that by never commenting, it was like receiving a gift and not saying "thank you". So thanks for all your hard work and for the awesome ideas & inspiration you share. These cookies look delish 🙂 Blessings to you & your family!!!
My gosh — thank you so much for such a kind comment, Emily! Welcome out of the lurking shadows! 🙂 xo
My son was just asking me to make cookies! Now I'm inspired to go all out!! 🙂
do you have the monster cookie recipe listed on your site?
Hi! I just used the basic choc chip recipe found on the Tollhouse bag…but added a cup each of my candy and the oatmeal! You can do the same to your favorite recipe.
Hope this helps!
The only thing better than a chocolate chip cookie…is a chocolate chip cookie with a bunch of other things in there too! These look delish!
Oh Yummy!! Might need to whip up a batch of these this week! I love that you acknowledge teachers Cassie. You are so sweet to show your appreciation for all of their hard work.

Monster cookies are my new favorite! I need to try them with candy corn in them!
Pretty much dying over those photos. Those cookies look better than the ones in NY and those were pretty darned good!
I guess your house was the place to be for baking this weekend, not mine! Candy corn in cookies sounds like perfection. Yum.
Yummmmmm. This is a great idea. I especially like the idea of the pretzel m&m's in a cookie!! My husband is the baker in our house and typically makes oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (in fact he made some last weekend)- but I may have to suggest the pretzel m&m's as a chocolate chip replacement!!
