I am so completely overwhelmed by the support you guys threw my way for the ‘Doing It All. Who Does???’ post! I can’t tell you how petrified I was to actually hit publish on that one. I mean really, is there anything more scary than revealing your true self?! But what I found through your amazing comments, tweets, texts, emails and facebook posts, is that all of us struggle in many areas of our lives, but we’re also comforted knowing we’re not in this alone.
Our appearances and homes may look different on the outside, but inside we all battle similar pressures and demons. I hope to remember that next time envy and guilt show their ugly heads.
I love this quote that Katie sent me:
“The reason we struggle with insecurity is
because we’re comparing our behind-the-scenes footage with everyone
else’s highlight reels.” — Steven Furtick
Maybe I’ll knit that on a pillow so I don’t forget! Not really. I have no idea how to knit. But thank you, thank you for opening yourselves back up to me, and for being so kind with my exposed soul. It was like a giant virtual hug!
Enough of the Kumbaya, and let’s do some Friday Housekeeping!
First up, I’m hanging with Dana at Make Them Wonder today. She has a great series called, ‘Blogging Made Me Do It!”, and at no surprise to anyone, I took mine in a totally whack direction! So hop over there and read about the nuttiest thing I’ve done, all because of blogging!
Earlier in the week, I was chatting it up about my personal style with sweetie-pie, Michaela. She’s got some great bloggers talking about their home and fashion style, so check it out!
And I think I’ve had a total lapse in judgement, because I’m taking the kids on a week-long road trip…Griswald style! Starting tomorrow, we’ll hit the road with no plans or agendas, and ultimately end up in Nashville to stay with my treasured friend. Did you catch that it’d be just me and the kids?! No Mr. Sugarplum to navigate and referee.
I’m actually really excited to spend this time with them, and see what kind of memories we make. You know, practice that concept of living life instead of just observing it? So we’re packing up the car and heading out…hopefully making it out of town before I lose my mind nerve. You can follow along on InstaGram…my name is CassieSugarplum.
While we won’t look like a Tommy Hilfiger ad, I will be traveling a lot more stylishly thanks to this adorable tote from Simply Bags. Stripes, monogram and red, white and blue?!?! I think I’m in love! They have some really cute totes to choose from, and the embroidery is free on the beach bags!
I’m not leaving you high-and-dry though, some of my friends will stop by to share their {Marry, Make-Out & Muzzle} choices, I’ll answer all the questions you asked me about blogging, and hopefully share some scenes from the road. Wish me luck, patience, good humor, and an endless supply of sunflower seeds. Here’s hoping your weekend is full of your favorite people!
you got support because you ROCK! Seriously! I'm in love with that first quote about the behind the scenes…Must write that down and hang it!
How funny… Steven Furtick is my pastor at Elevation Church here in Charlotte. He has lots of great quotes and that's a really good one. Good luck, safe travels, and have fun on your road trip. I'm single mom-ing it this weekend too.
I had to go back and read your prior post. Really well written and I'm sure true for all of us! Have fun on your road trip. You are brave.
Where did you get that photo of the back of the car?Is it a Tommy H. ad? I only ask because I have that tartan plaid cooler and thermos and I'm using them for my daughter's grad party.
thanks,
-heather
Oh girl, you're brave! Kuddos to you for making fun memories for your kids. Another big thanks for guest posting for me today!
Love the quote Katie sent to you! And, if you get lost a little and find your way to Atlanta…you know where to find me!!
Here's to hoping you can manage the back seat swat while driving. 😉 Sounds like fun – I love a road trip! You're going to be 3 hours from me! Have fun in Nashville – are you on instagram?
Such great quotes. Proud of you, girl. Have so much fun on your trip. What a good mama. I remember doing that with my mom and I was in charge of pouring lemonade out of a spout in the back seat when someone was thirsty. It got jammed and I was like I Love Lucy with cups and cups of lemonade in the back seat not wanting to tell anyone! 😉
you will have a great time! I did that once, long ago – drove from Atlanta to Corpus Cristi (and back) with my two – my only advice is "have good wiper blades" We were caught in a downpour and mine came off. an adventure they still talk about! peace out girl scout!
You are so brave, safe travels! You are coming to my neck of the woods. If I ran into you, I'd probably be too shy to say anything! I'm not even a shy person but I have a feeling I would be shy, awkward and just too embarrassed to speak. Have a great trip! You are much braver than I am!
That first quote is spot on! I needed that reminder as I just got done looking at a woman's amazing house online, while I'm sitting on my couch looking out at the complete disaster that is my living room and kitchen right now 😉 Have fun on the road trip! Memories will for sure be made!
You have a beautiful blog with a lot of inspiring posts! Congrats on your work! Would you like t follow each other?:)
