{Field Trip} Pottery Barn Outlet

Last week I talked about eating being one of the joys of traveling (see our Nashville restaurant faves here). Another would definitely be finding stores not in your hometown. There are only a small handful of Pottery Barn Outlet stores, so when we came across one in Memphis, I had to stop. Judging from the reaction I got on InstaGram, most of you would, too!

Pottery Barn‘s Outlet stores feature mostly current and last-season’s catalog items, but priced up to 40% off. It is not a line made exclusively for the outlet stores. The inventory is a combination of new items, online returns (up to 60% off, and sold as-is), and those items that are in jeopardy of selling-out online. True you don’t have drool-worthy displays like the traditional stores, but you can walk out with some good deals.

Let’s take a stroll through the store, shall we? I’ll let the pictures do the talking…

I used these exact glasses in my Pottery Barn Challenge last month.

The day-to-day decor is a nice price break, but the bigger pieces is where you’ll save some real money. I’m not in the market for any furniture or rugs so I didn’t look too closely. Actually, truth is I had no way of getting it home, so I didn’t want to fall in love with anything.

I thought about updating our bath towels, but don’t know much about these. Sometimes the really heavy, fluffy ones don’t dry completely between uses…and who wants a damp towel?! Do you use PB towels?

There’s a million captions for this photo, but my son’s face says it all. They weren’t as amused by the field trip.

There’s a separate room for PB Kids and Baby. This would definitely be the jackpot if you’re working on a nursery. Have you seen the prices for crib bumpers these days?!

Granted I was short on time, but my grand purchase was a $4 bag of sea glass! I was overwhelmed, and didn’t want to buy things just because I was there. You know that feeling? Are you an outlet shopper? What’s your favorite outlet store? Have you been to a PB Outlet? You can find the complete list of Pottery Barn outlet stores here.

This is not a sponsored post. Even though it may sound like one.

Oh how fun! I would be in big trouble there. Not sure about the towels. The RH towels are too fluffy for me and don't dry.

We have a PB outlet 45 minutes from us, but I've been it once. Sad, isn't it?? But after seeing this post, I think I need to make a field trip of my own…

I go to the one in San Marcos, TX (near San Antonio) once a year. Sometimes I get a good buy, other times it is just nice to get out and look around at everything. I too don't want to buy just because I am there, and knowing it's only 4 hours from Dallas, means I can always go back without a 12 hour trip.

I'm thankful that we don't have one in Charleston because it would surely be the cause of a big nasty divorce. I saw a million things I loved just in your pictures. I have problems. Big fat shopping problems….

  11. There's one (well, a RH outlet that has lots PB stuff too) that's just far enough away that I'm not tempted to go on a regular basis. Truthfully though the last time I was there I was unimpressed by their prices – I feel like you can luck out more with their online sales and promotions. And yes – I also feel very overwhelmed in that store. Same with IKEA – I want everything yet leave with nothing!

  12. I purchased PB towels in brown and white over 7 years ago when we moved to our current house. I'm still amazed at how well they hold up – even the dark brown which I would expect over time would wear and fade with the washing. These towels are in heavy-use, and I wash them ALOT, and they are not flat or frayed. I'm pretty particular about my towels and even used to switch them out about every other year. These are still going strong! I did have to get new white washcloths after a year or two just because of the makeup issues, but that's pretty realistic, and the actual wear on them wasn't a problem just the dingy look. The large hand towels and body wraps are still very white and pretty. Most people think they are new!

  13. I live in that North GA town where PB and RH outlets are across the courtyard from one another at an outlet mall. Ahhhh, fun times. 🙂 I've never tried their towels though. I did some damage to the PB Baby section though when I had my second baby a year ago. 🙂

I have a beautiful set of mono PB towels – but we think they're too heavy, thick for everyday use. They look great and I hang them for company or in bath that doesn't get used much. We swear by the upper end Target towels – daily rotation for 4 years w/o fading, pilling or getting pulls and those little strings. Would love a PB outlet nearby!

  17. Isn't it heaven!!! The one in San Marco is next to a RH outlet. I told my husband we were going to have to bring a truck next time. Good news is we just were given his dad's old farm truck. Hello outlet!!! Seriously, I'm heading out there with the truck next week.

  18. I'm 15 minutes from the outlet in San Marcos, so yes, I do make my way over there from time to time. I think the furniture is still pretty over priced for the condition it's usually in, but I love finding deals on pillows and kitchen stuff on the Williams Sonoma side. Great store – and my kids only like going with me so they can play on all of the sofas… LOL!

  20. I've been to the PB outlet between Cincinnati and Columbus in Ohio, but not for a long time, since I now live about 5 hours away.

Have to give you my two cents about PB towels. A few years ago for Xmas I asked for those and was so excite to get them. So pretty … so plush! But they are just too thick to get into nooks and crannies when you need to get dry, and too thick to tie around your chest or waist when you get out of the shower. I use them for guest towels but didn't use them for our everyday towels for long. Boo!

There are a few different types of PB towels, so pay attention to that. I bought my daughter PB Teen towels 8 years ago and I am amazed at how well they have worn. They haven't faded at all (bright pink) nor have they frayed. I will have to ask her about absorbency though.
