Dressing Room Diaries | #NSale Part 2

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! It couldn’t arrive any sooner either, as we finally get to move back home! I never thought I’d say this, but hotel life definitely loses its appeal after a month!

I can’t wait to show y’all the updates we made, so stay tuned for that… but you can catch peeks of the entire process HERE.

But let’s get to today’s post… the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is open to all cardholders!. (Non-cardholders will be able to shop starting July 28.) Mama Sugarplum and I are back with round two of Dressing Room Diaries, sharing more of our favorite finds on sale! Each combo is styled with head-to-toe sale items, including boots, jeans, and jewelry, so make sure to check all the links! Let’s get after it, shall we?

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is 0/XS. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure, and her size is XS/2P.

Shirts & Tops //

This plaid gave me a little sticker shock, but once I had it on I could see where they’re coming from! It’s incredibly soft and drapey, with a feminine fit for spring to fall. It comes in a range of colored plaids, but I’m always a sucker for blue and white. So cute with these straight jeans and loafers, don’t you think?!

Fit Tip: It runs really small, I sized up to a small and it’s still fitted. Mom is in a medium

Whether you’re returning to the office, or still dressing from the waist up, this sleeveless top is a great work to weekend option. It comes in a few fun patterns, and easily pairs with everything from trousers to pencil skirts to jeans.

I was so excited to find this top in-stores (you may remember seeing it on my initial top picks HERE), and it was even cuter than I’d hoped! Obviously it needs a black or strapless bra, but the embroidered overlay is so pretty, with a ruffled collar and sheer sleeve detail. Pair it with long black trousers for an elegant work or evening look, or make it more casual with denim.

Mom is wearing a similar style, but in a long-sleeve version. The body is a soft, stretchy knit that works tucked or out.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, but would size up if you’re busty or have larger upper arms.

This bodysuit takes the classic tee and elevates it! Made of a soft and stretchy knit, it has small shoulder pads to give it a more structured shape. I love the oatmeal color, too!

Mama SP literally swooned when she saw me in this top…vit was always her favorite style for me when I was growing up. Of course I completely rejected it as a teenager, so she’s over the moon that I love it now. The body is a medium sweater knit material, with the cutest cotton poplin collar with pearl trim. Dress it up or down, for work or weekend, it’s too cute for words!

Sweaters //

If I’m going to try on sweaters in July, please let them all be this one! Made of the most luxurious cashmere, it’s a great weight that doesn’t stretch out or lose its shape (like more affordable cashmeres tend to do). It’s a timeless staple that never goes out of style, and it would make the most thoughtful gift!

Fit Tip: I sized up for a more relaxed fit, I’m wearing a small. Mom in a medium.

Sleeveless sweaters are kind of tricky in some climates, but work really well in the south! This one is so chic in person (the color is more of a warm camel than it’s showing in the pic), with a drop shoulder and loose cowlneck. I love the side slits, too.

Mama SP discovered this textured sweater and instantly scooped it up! Made of a soft, yet substantial cotton, it has a great relaxed shape with drop shoulders and mock neck. I love the relaxed, tunic-style shape, and the mixed material of the sleeve and body.

Jackets //

Jackets are a great investment during the NSale, as they’re pieces to wear for years and years. This classic Levi jean jacket has a fun oversized fit and perfect light wash.

North Face on sale?! Sign me up! The moment I slipped this darling jacket on, I immediately started a mental inventory of how many jackets I have, and could I justify adding this one?! First, it’s too cute with the color blocked blues, but it’s also a great weight for that cold, but not freezing, weather we get most of the fall and winter. It’s not too puffy, and even has a hood.

This quilted number is as soft as it is cute, in the perfect neutral olive. It has a relaxed fit with a loose sleeve and mock neck. Comes in black, too. Throw it on with your jeans or workout wear, it’s cute with everything!

Dresses //

There are quite a few great dress finds in this year’s Sale, most are perfect for multi-seasons, too. This animal print is cute now with wedges and later with booties… with smocking at the sleeve and waist for an easy, comfy fit.

How gorgeous are the colors in this maxi shirtdress?! It’s a silky woven material with lots of movement, plus it’s fully lined.

Floral Statement Dress

 

Another floral option, this one with a sweet ruffled neckline and full statement sleeves. The material is silky soft, and the skirt has lots of movement.

Denim //

I feel like I hit the denim jackpot this year, with several styles I loved. And even better, most of them are super soft and comfy!! I shared my top three styles HERE, and more faves are below.

These jeans are a great dark rinse, which is both slimming and a little dressier than washed denim. It’s lightweight and smooth, with lots of stretch and a straight leg. The waist has that comfy and flattering Ab-Solution panel, and they’re a mid-rise. The hem is raw, but I just tucked it under for a more cropped length.

I don’t care what any 20-something says, I’ll continue to wear skinny jeans…. especially with booties and oversized sweaters! I just love that silhouette! These have a leg-lengthening high rise, with just a touch of fading. The ankle has a raw hem you can wear as-is, cut shorter, or give them a little cuff. There’s no gapping in the back, either!

These jeans are as comfy as you can be in denim!! They are softer than soft, and lightweight, smooth, and stretchy. The rise is a little higher than mid, with a straight leg and a little kick at the ankle. Oh yeah, and they include the Ab-Solution waist band! I love them paired with loafers, flats, and sneakers.

Workout Wear & Athleisure //

If you’re a Zella fan like us, then you’re in luck because there’s a slew of new styles included in the Sale! Mom grabbed this hoodie, it’s soft and oversized, in a thick, traditional sweatshirt material. The colors are cute, too.

As for the leggings, it’s hard to beat the Live-In High Waist style! The cropped length is perfect for our shorter frames.

Fit Tip: Both TTS, I’m wearing XS in both. Mom in a small sweatshirt, but XS legging.

This pullover was a Mama SP find, she was super-smitten with the tie-dye! It’s oversized and a medium weight, with raw edges and even pockets! Comes in two fun color ways.

Pajamas & Loungewear //

We shared our favorite pajama sets HERE, but this new one from Barefoot Dreams is pretty dreamy, too! Made of a cool jersey knit, it’s incredibly soft and lightweight.

Shoes //

The shoes are my favorite category this year, and I found so many great styles! We tried on a TON, and while some I’d hoped to love and didn’t (like these booties, too tight in the toe, and these knee boots, no zipper made them hard to get on and off), a few others totally took me by happy surprise.

These sneakers are the most comfy non-athletic shoe I’ve ever worn (and they’re actually cute, too!), and I know I’ll wear these mules on repeat this season. I grabbed them in the neutral taupe and the fun pink.

And if you’re a loafer girl like me, you’ll adore these! The shape and fit is great, and they’re so comfy with a padded insole and sturdy heel. These Adidas have also been in my closet for a few years.

Fit Tip: I found them all true to size except the Tory Burch sandals, I sized up half in those because I have a wider foot.

As for Mama Sugarplum’s faves, she loved the same loafers… but in the punchy orange hue. And she surprised me with the Tory Burch sneakers, but they were just too cute on her to pass up!
