Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Thursday, friends! Well, it’s official… Sloan is going to college in the Fall. Or in 10.5 weeks, to be exact! We were on campus yesterday for her orientation, and she’s now registered for all her classes, with a move-in date of August 6!

The train has definitely left the station, and is full-steam ahead for the next two months. But honestly, seeing her face yesterday as we walked the campus, and toured the dorm, I was nothing but excited with her. I know all the feelings will come, but I have a sense of peace knowing she’s in the best place for her.

We also packed the rest of Jackson’s life in Norman, and he’s officially back in Dallas! Lots of ‘officials’ around here, ha! You can imagine the state of my house with all the moving, right?! I feel like I need a month just to reorganize, but that will have to wait because we leave for Europe in six days! I’ll share the full itinerary next week, but for now, I’m in full-blown packing mode. (P.S. we have family friends staying at the house with the pups!)

This month’s Dressing Room Diaries looks a little different, and is a big melting pot of styles I’ve found for our trip, graduation celebrations, and more. I hope they’re a resource for what you’ve got planned, too.

Packing Capsule //

The Summer Collection at J.Crew is a 10/10, and I ordered a handful of incredible mix-and-match styles, perfect for packing. These five pieces created six darling outfits.

Linen is timeless and classic, and the perfect lightweight material for sunny days and lots of exploring. This vest is fully lined with operational buttons and a flattering square neck. The pants are lightweight, without being sheer, with a comfy elastic waist

I don’t usually gravitate to red, but couldn’t resist this gorgeous polo-style sweater. It’s super soft and so luxe, and pairs beautifully with pants and skirts of all styles.

Dresses //

Okay, I’ve got tons of dresses for you this month! Between two graduations, Senior Breakfast, Baccalaureate, awards ceremonies, and more, I wore them on repeat. These are some of my favorite finds, and what I wore to the events.

This dress from one of my favorite brands is a gorgeous print and silhouette, with a faux-wrap front for a flattering shape. The ruching on the bust and gathering around the tie conceal a tummy, and it’s a great length. It’s made of a quality cotton.

An easy-to-pack maxi, this dress has a twist front and open back, with a gorgeous full skirt. The straps are adjustable, as well as a tie in the back.

This dress was a high contender for Sloan’s graduation, with the lightweight cotton and full sleeves. The body is fully-lined, and has beautiful button details up the front.

This halter midi is light as a feather, with a low back and beautiful print. It has a subtle cutout detail along the waist, and packs like a dream.

This lilac and coral dress stopped me in my tracks! I’m crazy for the colors, and of course the easy-to-wear fit-and-flare shape! The sheer sleeves provide coverage without weight, and the buttons are so pretty.

I was thisclose to wearing this cotton shirt dress to Jackson’s graduation in a different color, but in the end, chose this colorful short option. It’s a crisp cotton with drop shoulder and buttons up the front. It has front flap pockets, a flattering full skirt, and removable tie belt.

I wore this dress to one of Sloan’s many Senior events… it’s a lightweight woven material, with comfy smocked waist and sheer sleeves. I love the tiered skirt and beautiful print.

This dress may look familiar, it’s lived in my closet for a while, but so good I had to share again! Easy-to-wear shape, in a lightweight, airy-soft cotton. It has beautiful buttons up the front and a darling grosgrain tie.

If you don’t have comfy, but still super-flattering, shoes for all your dresses, I can’t recommend these enough! Perfect heel height for all-day wear, and they go with absolutely everything! They also give you legs for days!

This designer-inspired dress is actually an Amazon find! Made of a sturdy cotton, it has so many gorgeous details and comes in several fun prints.

FARM Rio can do no wrong in my book, and this dress was an automatic YES for me! Lightweight cotton, and fully lined, it has the cutest print and feminine details. I love the statement sleeve and eyelet trim, plus the drawstring waist is not only comfy, but creates a flattering shape. It’s on the short side, so gals over 5’5″ or so might prefer with flats. (I wore it to Jackson’s graduation, see that HERE.)

Mix & Match separates in the coolest, flowy fabric. The skirt is an easy, pull-on style with elastic waist, and the shorts button in the front, but have elastic as well.

I’m crazy for this batik print, and it looks like the perfect shade of OU Crimson to me! Both made of a crisp cotton, with fun sleeves and bra-friendly styles. The skirt has a faux-wrap and fun tiered hem.
