Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday from Whidbey Island, friends! We flew to Seattle yesterday, then took the ferry to this quaint, rustic island that is oozing charm!

Remember before the pandemic when we partnered with Princess Cruises? For years we traveled the world with the best group of people, who became dear friends (experiencing Russia together really bonds a friendship!).

It’s been years since we’ve seen them, so we planned this little weekend getaway as a reunion! I’m sharing peeks of the island and the world’s most adorable hotel on my Instagram Story HERE, but I’ll be sure to share all the scoop on the blog, too.

Today I’ve got an all new Dressing Room Diaries, chock full of the cutest new arrivals for Fall! It’s a mix of retailers and price points, so there’s something for everyone! My job is to find the cutest things, at the best prices, and I think you’ll love these!

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/2.

Tops & Tees //

Be still my preppy, plaid-loving heart! This brushed flannel is as cute as it is soft, with darling puffed shoulders and a slim, feminine fit. Pair it with black and blue denim, or style it with trousers or a party skirt… it will be on-repeat for me this season!

Dress up your denim with this fun statement top! Made of crisp cotton, it has a stretchy, smocked bodice, with full sleeves and a peplum hem. The pink and blue combo is fresh for Fall, but works well in to Spring, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS blouse, but I’d suggest sizing up if in-between.

Green is everywhere this season, and this shade of sage is my favorite! It’s so flattering and soft, and pairs with denim, black, and white. This top is silky soft, with fluttered sleeves and smocked yoke. It has a flowy shape to it, as well. Bonus: It’s 20% off this weekend with a Friends & Family Sale!

Holiday plaid is here, and this classic tartan is a long-time favorite. It’s a lightweight, cotton blend, with full princess sleeves and smocking at the neck. It has a full, oversized shape for wearing loose or tucked.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size Small, but would prefer XS (so it’s true to size).

Tunics are always one of the most requested styles this time of year, and Gibsonlook makes some of the softest around! I love the deep v-neck and brushed fleece of this cozy top, and it’s longer in the back to fully cover the bum.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS, but if you want to pair with leggings, I’d consider sizing up for a touch more length in the front if you’re long-torsoed like me. #coveryourladybits

I love a good henley, and they don’t come much better than this one! It’s a soft waffle knit with operational buttons, and a v-neck shape, rather than the traditional crewneck. It’s a nice long length for tucking, as well. I’ll pair it under jackets and puffer vests this season.

Sweaters //

I literally never met a fair isle I didn’t love! It’s such a fun classic, and this one is not only super-soft and stretchy, but comes in the brightest colors I love!! It has a mock neck and full sleeves you can wear long or pushed up.

Another darling fair isle, this one is super cozy and warm, in a thick (but not scratchy!) knit. I’m crazy for the plum and pink combo, and taller neck.

This rollback crew is one of those ‘grab it in every color’ sweaters! It’s super soft and stretchy, with an easy relaxed fit for pairing with jeans, maxi skirts, or even belted over a dress.

Pullovers & Lounge //

Walmart continues to slay in the Fashion department… seriously, check out their Free Assembly line for some of the cutest finds I’ve seen anywhere this season! This sherpa pullover is definitely a top find… thick and warm, but still soft. I’ve already ordered it in another color.

The hoodie is a find from the men’s department… it’s a great quality sweatshirt for jeans or joggers.

Another Walmart find… I want these sweatpants in every color!! And this tee… it’s as good as they come. Truly!

Casual Dresses //

I always gravitate to dresses, even in Fall… they’re just so much more comfortable than denim! And fortunately I found some darling options in the cutest Fall prints. This dress is as easy to wear as it is cute, with a smocked waist, puff sleeve, and optional tie. It’s flattering and so cute with mules, booties, or even sneakers.

Another fun floral, this one is in deep shades of green with a tiered skirt. It is a little on the short side, but works when paired with a flat shoe.

If you prefer a flowy fit, this asymmetrical dress is silky soft, with a full sleeve and longer back. Pair it with booties or sneakers, too!

Sweater dresses are always in style, and this one is slim without being overly fitted. It’s a thick and warm sweater knit, but not scratchy, and has a tall neck and open sleeve.

And finally, another Fall floral, this one with shades of black and pink that easily dresses up or down. It has a button top, with operational drawstring for a custom fit. The length is great for pairing with flats or heels.

Holiday Style //

Holiday parties and events will happen fast, and all the best styles seem to sell out early! Satin is always fun for festive nights out, and this halter top is crazy-flattering with a twisted front and tie at the back.

The trousers are a thick satin that smooths over bumps, with a high waist that really elongates the leg.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS top and pants, but need to size up in the pant for more room in the waist.

Here’s the same top in bright fuschia (love!!!), but paired with a fun party skirt. It has an elastic waist and lined to the knee, with a flocked velvet overlay.

I love a tall collar moment for lots of drama and style! This dress has a slight a-line shape for an easy and flattering fit. It’s much thicker than you’d think, with a touch of stretch, and comes in a bunch of colors, including classic plaid!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS dress, but would consider sizing up if busty as it runs a little small across the chest and under the arms.

It’s unfortunate that you can’t touch this organza dress through your screen, because it’s all kinds of fabulous! The print is raised with a gold and black textured detailing.

This flattering fit-and-flare has a lace overlay, with sheer sleeve and tiered skirt. It zips up the back, and comes in a pretty cranberry, too.

You’ll never guess where I found this chic number!! It’s a gorgeous satin that moves and flows like butter, in a beautiful green (comes in black and some fun patterns, too). It has ties at the waist and neck, but I tucked those in.

I found a couple of new accessories that became instant faves, starting with this quilted bag! It looks and feels so designer, but without the designer price tag! It’s absolutely gorgeous in person, and feels so soft to the touch, as well.

I’m still on the headband bandwagon, especially as we move in to holiday season… they’re such an easy and fun way to add more style to an outfit! This headband is not only darling, but actually super comfortable, too! Not an easy feat for headbands!
