Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! We don’t have one thing planned outside of binging the new season of Ozark, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! We also rebooked our getaway for next weekend, so I’ll probably start packing.

But how long does it take to pack a few swimsuits (this one and this one), this cover-up, and this tote… and toss all my toiletries in these bags?! I’ll bring this sundress and this one, too, and that about covers me! Who am I kidding, of course I have several new orders placed that might make the cut, too! I’ll share more of that next week.

Today I’ve got an all new Dressing Room Diaries, our first of 2022, and chock full of the cutest new arrivals! It’s a mix of retailers from a range of price points, and even a few new small shops I know you’ll love! My job is to find the cutest things, at the best prices, and I think you’ll love these! (I know I did!!)

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/2. 

 

Dresses //

Let’s lead with the good stuff, shall we?! SURPRISE…. the hugely popular GxHSP Decked Out Day Dress is BACK!! And in the most darling blue print, inspired by the Sugar Shack. It’s a multi-seasonal fabric that works with everything from booties to sandals, and is the perfect wear anywhere for any occasion dress! It has the same flowing, forgiving fit, with a darling ruffle neck and gather at the shoulder. And of course we included pockets!

It also comes in solid black and the prettiest blush pink… but warning: this dress sells out fast every time!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS dress. The XXS fits, but the proportions are better suited for a petite. Size up half in the sandals.

Sweaters //

I hit the cozy jackpot for sweaters this month, and they’re all so soft and yummy! And most on sale, too! This sweater had me at the perfect shade of lilac, and sold me the moment I pulled it on. It’s the perfect relaxed fit and pairs great with loafers and sneakers.

Let’s talk denim for a second, too! These are new-to-me styles, and I’m crazy about them both! The dark wash is soft and super stretchy, with a straight leg and an ankle slit. The waist is outfitted with the miracle Ab-Solution Panel that smooths and holds, while never gaping at the back!

The light wash pair is an investment, but after wearing these for the last six months, I’m hooked on the style! The fit is so flattering, and they just get better with every wear. They have lots of stretch and a cropped straight leg. If you grab them, just know it’s only the beginning!

Winter white is a classic and always so chic, don’t you think? This sweater is warm and heavy, with a gorgeous pattern and full neck. It falls to the hip if you wear it long, and comes in a few other great colors, as well. We’ll talk about these pants in a few minutes! (Spoiler alert: I’m obsessed!)

I’ve been eyeing this sweater for weeks, and finally had to try it for myself… especially once it was marked half off! It’s an easy pullover that’s super soft, with a flattering v-neck and fun wide stripes. It comes in every color you can think of, too!

I’m sorry, but this lightweight sweater is too cute! It has a mock neck and quarter-zip, so you can wear it open or keep the collar tall. It’s super lightweight, and a little on the cropped side.

Another denim interruption… but I’m never not searching for white denim (yes ma’am, you can wear it year-round!)… and was thrilled to find that our favorite mom jean style now comes in white! They are high-waist with a straight leg, just enough stretch, and no see-thru on the pockets. They do run large, so size down (for real!).

Fit Tip: I sized up for juniors, I’m wearing a Small sweater, and size 0 white jeans.

Did somebody say Valentine’s Day?! I clearly had love on the brain, because this DRD is full of pink, red, and lots of hearts. But how can you resist this darling sweater?! It’s a wool blend, but soft enough to wear alone, with the cutest raised letters and contrasting trim.

This striped cutie has the sweetest embroidered hearts, and pairs well with denim, skirts, and trousers. It’s very lightweight, but not sheer, and has a touch of stretch.

I’m always a sucker for fair isle, and the colors of this one are so chic! Shades of soft camel and blush, grounded with touches of black. It’s made of the softest, stretchiest sweater knit, with a stretchy ribbed turtleneck.

Stripes are always a good idea, but this sweater also comes in several solids, as well. It’s a soft and stretchy boucle, with a longer length and side slit.

This lightweight sweater has been on repeat already, so it’s likely you’ve already seen me in it! It’s just so easy for every day, with a high neck, soft and lightweight material, and so many cute colors and striped options.

Leopard is always in style, and they don’t come any softer and warmer than this hoodie sweater! It’s like a big blanket hug, but somehow not bulky. It’s a longer length to the hip, but easily tucks as well.

Pullovers & Jackets //

Remember this pullover from my Loving Lately post last week? Well, I’m here to tell you it’s even cuter in person (if that’s even possible)! A soft, stretchy cotton, it has a relaxed fit and tall neck giving it the perfect ‘popped collar’ rugby style. But good luck choosing just one color!

This sweatshirt has already made it to my closet… in fact I wore it all last weekend! It’s not as fluffy and stretchy as I’d like, but still so soft and cute with denim, joggers, or pajamas.

Fit Tip: Definitely size up in the sweatshirt, I’m in a small and would like a little more room. The PJ pants are XS-petite, but too short for my taste, so I’d prefer regular XS.

Told you I was on a hearts bandwagon! But these sweet prints you can wear year-round, not just for the holiday. This navy crewneck is lightweight and soft, and has a feminine fit across the shoulders.

This color block jacket is a fleecey-sherpa, with a soft finish and the cutest contrasting colors. It has a high neck and elastic at the wrists, but the hem is loose so it doesn’t hug.

Tops & Tees //

Spring will be here soon (a girl can dream!), and with it comes darling spring tops! This Swiss dot has a smocked ruffle neck and flutter sleeves, and pairs perfectly with denim or trousers. Layer it under blazers to wear it now. It also comes in a pretty pink floral I’m wearing below.

The trousers are a lovely multi-seasonal fabric, with a flattering wide leg and elastic on the back waistband. They’re a heavier fabric that skims over the body, with flat front pockets.

See?! Did I not tell you the tops were darling?! I’m crazy for the colors, pattern, and statement sleeve of this one. The material is textured and a tad stiff, but it still wears well.

How about a little graphic tee for Valentine’s and beyond?! Both of these are a soft cotton, with a relaxed fit. The black stripes have an embroidered heart, and the navy stripes an appliquéd ‘LOVE.’

Pants & Leggings //

I adore tone on tone during the winter months, especially when it’s camels and winter whites. But finding a great pair of winter white trousers has proven tricky over the years… until now! These are so flattering and forgiving, and timelessly chic! They have just enough stretch, and shallow pockets that don’t add bulk.

I was hesitant to size down as suggested, especially given they’re ivory, but I’m glad I did. Oh, and to get that tucked sweater look without adding bulk to your waist, simply tuck the hem of the sweater into your bra.

If you’ve got a warm weather vacation on the horizon, you will definitely want these gauzy pants! Lightweight, but not sheer, with a wide, elastic waist and pockets. Wear them with a tee and jean jacket for travel, pair with a black tank for a jumpsuit look, and even pull them on over your swimsuit. They are vacation perfection!

Okay, so I put these leggings in the ‘Pants’ category, but don’t really give you a great shot of why they’re noteworthy. Um, that’s because they are ‘booty boosting’ leggings, and I’m not in the business of booty shots, ha! I don’t know what or how, but these leggings LEGIT lift the booty, smooth it out, and even create a more compact shape! I’m serious! And all without cutting off your circulation. They have a lot of compression, and work so well, you could wear them with shorter tops and not feel exposed.

If you prefer to keep it covered, this tunic sweatshirt is plush and soft, with a longer length.

Pajamas & Loungewear //

These PJ pants had me at pink and red stripes!! The blue leopard is darling too, so I ordered them in petite and regular sizes for comparison. They are a soft jersey knit, in a good medium weight.

Fit Tip: I’m in a regular XS in the pink, and PXS in the blue. I prefer the regular for my frame.
