Hey, hey, hey!! Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! Our son has been sick all week (#dormlife), so he might head home this weekend for a little R&R in his own bed. Not the best circumstances, but I’m excited we may get to see him for a bit. It’s hard not being there for your kids when they’re sick!!

Today I’m excited to share a new Dressing Room Diaries with Mama Sugarplum, and it’s a GOOD one. So many incredible new pieces for Fall, holidays and more. The overwhelming vote was to continue grouping things by retailer, but I encourage you to not overlook something because of pre-conceived retailer opinions! I work hard to find the absolute cutest things from each spot, and you may be surprised by retailers and prices!

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/0. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure, and her usual size is XS/2p.

We both went cuckoo for this color-blocked sweater. Warm and soft enough to wear alone, I love the relaxed fit and loose neck. It’s shades of gray and black, so cute with jeans or leggings.

It’s these leggings that are the true star of the show though! I found them a few weeks ago and literally flipped (you saw me wearing them all over New Mexico), and couldn’t wait to get Mama SP’s opinion. Well, she flipped too! Made of a thick Ponte knit, they are the texture of a heavy trouser, but the fit of a legging.

They’re fully-opaque with flattering seams, but even better is the built-in ab panel that wraps around the entire top 4-inches of the waist! It gives control and support, but still super comfortable. I honestly don’t think you’ll find a better legging. And the thickness means you can wear them with flats, sneakers, booties or knee-high boots!

How about a little graphic sweater fun? These crewneck sweaters are a soft and lightweight merino, with embroidered statements. The ‘Cheers’ is my fave, and even includes tonal sequins for a little holiday sparkle. It’s super cute with our Etoile Party Skirt, too!

I never met a fair isle I didn’t love, and this one is no exception. I love the fall-perfection colors of navy and mustard, and the soft cotton-blend. It’s a medium weight, and would be cute layered under a jacket, or over a chambray shirt.

Mom paired her fair isle with some cute corduroy pants from one of our favorite denim brands. They come in a slew of colors and have a touch of stretch for a comfy fit.

My Gibson friends are taking cozy to the next level with this fleecy top in the cutest leopard print. Wear it with everything from trousers to work, under my fave blazer, and even with these joggers for a cozy lounge combo! And bonus, it’s on sale!

And these pants aren’t new around here, I’m completely smitten with them! A thick and stretchy Ponte knit pant that fits like a trouser, but feels like stretch pants! Super flattering and so easy to wear. Pair them with flats or heels, and perfect for work.

I now own this tunic sweater in gray and black, it’s so cozy! Not thin or sheer, but also not overly heavy or bulky… it’s crazy soft with an oversized, yet relaxed, neck. It’s long enough for leggings, with a great side slit, and comes in several fun colors.

I’ve got Holidays on the brain, so couldn’t try this leopard skirt fast enough! It’s a similar fit to our Etoile Party Skirt, but the fabric a little thicker and waist a bit more fitted. It has a gorgeous sheen, and would be darling with tights. The top is super stretchy and fitted with a cute puff shoulder.

Okay, moving on to jackets. I actually wore this one to the mall that day… the perfect weight for Fall! I love the utility jacket style, but it’s lined with the softest sherpa fleece! It comes in a slew of colors, this olive and black are two of my faves.

If you’ve been a HSP reader for longer than a minute, then you’ve seen this peacoat about 100 times over the years! I have it in three colors and wear the heck out of it every year. I’m thrilled to see it back, and on sale!!!

For my leopard-lovers, you do not want to miss this coat!! Most faux-fur feels too boujee for me, but I was totally into this one, and would wear it over all my evening outfits this season. Crazy luxe and silky soft, it’s fully-lined and actually warm. And the leopard print is spot-on. #punny

One last Nordstrom find… both of these you actually saw in my Santa Fe post! I had to have both pieces, and wore them non-stop on the trip. The flannel pants are so warm and soft, not crazy long, and come in the cutest plaids. The sherpa is warm and cuddly, and my new fave top layer with pjs, joggers, and after workouts.

I’ve shared these pieces before, but had to include again now that there’s an incredible site-wide sale! As if the cheesy grin on my face weren’t indicator enough, this ruffle collar sweater had me swooning!! My go-to Tippi sweater in the lightest merino wool, but with a darling contrasting ruffle at the collar. So cute with jeans, trousers, and skirts, and especially peeking out from under a blazer!

This skirt had me at blush pink! So unexpected for Fall and Winter, yet pairs beautifully with rich Fall colors. It’s a thick wool blend with just a touch of stretch, and fully-lined. It’s sturdy enough for tights in Winter, and so chic with a blazer. I paired it with sweaters, but camis, tanks and blouses would be beautiful, as well.

The softest sweater in my closet… I reached for this repeatedly last year, and I’m thrilled to see it back… and in incredible new colors!! It’s soft and warm, with a relaxed mock neck and perfect fit.

In my opinion, Fall and Winter is when Old Navy really shines! Their plaids, puffers, jackets and hats are always so stinking cute, and the prices are amazing. I’ve been living in these henley shirts (I have three colors now!), and love it layered under this puffer vest. It’s super warm and fleece-lined, and comes in a slew of colors. The fair isle hat is adorable and even has a matching scarf.

You can’t go wrong with classic tartan plaid, and this one is perfection! Made of a soft, brushed cotton, it’s a feminine and flattering fit (no lumberjacking!) in the best colors. Wear it with a black or red skirt for holiday, or layered under a vest for casual.

I paired it with the lighter quilted vest, a great top layer that doesn’t add bulk.

Here’s a closer look at the henley (I was actually wearing it this day), but with some cute jogger-style sweats. They’re thick and warm, and so cute for lounging around, or out with sneakers and a jacket. (Socks are actually old from Old Navy, too… I refuse to ever be barefoot in a dressing room!)

Walmart //

Pay no attention to where these things are from, and focus on how stinking cute!! The leopard sweater is from the popular Scoop brand, now available at Walmart. It’s super soft and well-made, and an incredible find. The scarf and hat are a soft chenille, with a cute faux-fur pom topper!

These pullovers are fleecy soft with a cute tonal plaid pattern. They’re a lighter weight than traditional sherpa pullovers, making them perfect for layering under vests and jackets.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing small in the gray and XS in the plum. I prefer the fit of sizing up.

This puffer bomber literally stopped me in my tracks! I love the throwback vibe, and the mix of colors and striped trim is adorable! Plus, it’s really well-made, comfortable and super warm!

I found some fun shoe options… both at Walmart! The slip-on sneakers have a hidden platform, giving you a height boost. Plus they’re supple with a padded insole for comfy walking all day. The gray is a great neutral that goes with everything, too.

The boots are a little outside my wheelhouse, so I was surprised by how much I liked them. Soft sherpa lining around the ankle, with a comfy memory foam insole and sturdy rubber soles.

Fit Tip: Sneakers TTS, but go down half in the boots.

J.Crew Factory // 50% off everything!

J.Crew is my original go-to for plaids and puffers, and I always love their color combinations! This pink and plum is my fave of the moment. Their quilted vests have a dressier touch to them too, so they’re less sporty and more chic.

Another thing I love so much about the J.Crew brand is that their colors coordinate across categories, so it’s easy to mix-and-match outfits, and for entire families.

I have been on the hunt for a sweater dress all season and finally hit the jackpot! This one is made of the J.Crew famous superset yarn, for a silky soft and warm feel, and a hefty amount of stretch (but without losing its shape). The neck is loose, and unbelted it falls to the knee. So cute with booties or tall boots, and even tights when it gets cold.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, but have ordered a size down to see if it’s shorter so I can wear it unbelted, too.

If I were a coat, I’d be this coat. Am I right?! I have this coat in gray from a few years ago, and couldn’t grab this new pink fast enough. An incredibly chic coat, it’s fully-lined, super warm, and has the cutest faux-fur hood. Wear it over dressier styles for evening, or add cuteness to your everyday styles.
