Dressing Room Diaries

Cheers to Friday, friends, and the weekend ahead! We’ve got a whole lot of nothing on the agenda, and I’m pretty happy about that. Especially since a serious cold front blew in, giving us an excuse to stay in and snuggle by the fire. What plans do you have?

Today I’m bringing you an all new Dressing Room Diaries, with many things we’re reviewing on super sale (check the end of this post for discount codes)! Oh yeah, and my darling Mama Sugarplum joined me for the shopping trip, too!

If you’re new around here, Dressing Room Diaries is where I hunt down some of the cutest new arrivals from my favorite retailers, and review them for you. The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model.

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-isa (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is an XS/0. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure. We typically wear the same size, but she sometimes goes with petite.

I usually kick these off with my favorite pieces, but honestly, everything in today’s post is a total keeper! Starting with this stretchy ribbed pullover sweater. I love the high crewneck and slight blouson sleeve, plus it’s thick and cozy. It comes a ton of fun bright colors, too.

This tunic top is in the softest fleecy material, but has a lot of drape and movement to it. It can be worn off the shoulder, but I prefer the cowlneck. It’s cute with a little half-tuck in jeans, but long enough for leggings. I’ve even worn mine with workout leggings!

Fit Tip: I’m in a regular XS.

It fits mom a lot more like a tunic than me. She’s in an XS, too.

We both went a little cuckoo over this sweater…probably because we can never resist a black and white stripe. This is thick woven sweater with contrasting bands at the neck and hip, and an exaggerated bell sleeve. It’s so fun to wear, but would pose a problem when eating chips and salsa.

Mom is wearing the navy stripe, which for some reason doesn’t have the contrasting bands…but you can see the sleeve length better on her. She’s wearing an XS.

This is not the first time you’re seeing this fleece-lined button cardigan, and I can assure it won’t be the last. Just when I think I have enough, they introduce some new color and I’m back at it. I have this shirt (styled here!), but was so excited to see they brought it back I had to show you. It’s thick poplin cotton with a lot of structure and stretch. A great closet staple and looks great dressed up or down, and worn alone or layered.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 2 for more shoulder room.

Mom grabbed the navy gingham, which of course is equally darling! This one is much lighter weight, and not stretchy.

I’m having a moment with blazers and jackets and can’t wait to style this one a few ways for you soon. I have a lot of requests for more work wear, but I know many of you have casual lifestyles, so I like pieces that work for both…like this perfectly-cut blazer. It’s timeless and season-less.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 0 in the blazer and an XS in the graphic tee.

The maker of my beloved hooded cardigan (y’alls number 1 item of 2017!) just came out with a pullover in the same material. I don’t know if I should rejoice or be very afraid. These are the type of pieces that make a girl want to never leave the house. It’s divine. Enough said.

Oh hey, speaking of said beloved hooded cardigan. I loved hearing from all of you who got it for Christmas…and are now equally obsessed. I wear mine literally every single night…but it’s cute with jeans, too!

Moving on to loungewear, these boyfriend pants are my hands-down favorite this season. They are insanely soft, and you don’t look like a total schlep if your neighbor stops by at 2 in the afternoon while you’re wearing them. They launder really well, too.

Fit Tip: I sized up to a small.

In fact, I love them so much I insisted Mama SP have a pair too…she loved them paired with an equally soft pullover hoodie. She’s wearing a small in both.

And finally, ending with probably my favorite piece in the bunch (if I had to choose!)…this flannel puffer jacket. OHEMGEE, it’s so soft and fits so darling…I love the fit through the shoulders and mock neck. And the color, and the pockets, and the overall length. Okay, I just love everything about it. As if you couldn’t tell by goofy grin.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS and there’s plenty of room to layer sweaters under.
