{DIY} Book Caddy

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a fabulous weekend, and you’ve recovered from the Halloween sugar-high. After chasing after little girls all evening, we pretty much laid low the rest of the weekend. Sometimes we all need a little couch time!

Today I have a simple project we just added to Babygirl’s room to help control the book population. She’s recently graduated to chapter books, and has become obsessed with reading! Obviously, I’m thrilled, and want to do everything I can to encourage her.

When we created her Big Girl Room, we carved out a secret reading nook, but her book collection quickly outgrew the small storage. I looked around online, and fell in love with this Land of Nod book caddy…but not the $150 price tag! Plus, it’s a little large for her small room. So I made my own, duh!

Hi Sugarplum | DIY Book Caddy

This simple project took about 10-minutes and cost $20…and it’s already become a game-changer for keeping her room better organized. I’m thinking of making another caddy to hold magazines and remotes in our family room.

We currently keep the book caddy near her art center (which I cleaned up for pictures, don’t be fooled into thinking she’s this tidy!), so it’s a whole corner of imagination and creativity!

Check out all the details of this project, including the simple supply list, in my contributor post on Jen’s gorgeous blog, I Heart Organizing! How do you corral the ever-growing pile of books? Have you started to dread the school Book Fairs, too?!

  1. Hey Cassie, I LOVE this idea, so cute. I noticed that the screws weren't painted, did you pull the rack apart before you painted it?

    • Goodness no!! that is waaaay too much trouble for me! 🙂 Since the screws are so deep, they likely just didn't get hit with the spray.

  2. Super cute idea, Cassie. Between books and book order forms {that my son won't let go of} we can't keep up. I just love the little art corner. S is a lucky girl.

    • Hi Deborah, I no longer have the can, but it was just the basic yellow, high gloss! xo
