Color Crushing: Brown for Spring

Brown was the color of fall — rich, warm, everywhere — and guess what? I’m not done with it. 🤎 It’s officially coming with me into spring.

The key to making brown feel fresh this time of year is all in the styling. Instead of leaning into the cozy, layered fall vibe, I’m pairing it with lighter fabrics, softer silhouettes, and unexpected color combos. Think breezy dresses, relaxed knits, tailored shorts, easy sandals… all in those beautiful chocolate, espresso, and warm caramel tones.

Brown feels grounded and elevated, but still neutral enough to mix and match with almost anything — which makes it such a smart spring staple.

Brown + Pink = A Fresh Combo

If you want brown to feel instantly lighter and more playful, add pink. Soft blush tones or even a brighter pop create the prettiest contrast against deep brown. It’s feminine without being overly sweet, and the warmth of brown keeps the pink from feeling too precious.

This pairing feels polished, modern, and a little unexpected — which I love.

Brown + Blue = Effortlessly Chic

Blue might be my favorite way to style brown right now. From crisp light blue to soft chambray, it brings a cool balance to brown’s warmth. The result feels classic, easy, and totally wearable for everyday life.

It’s one of those combinations that looks like you tried… without actually trying.

Brown had its moment last fall, but I’m officially keeping it in heavy rotation this spring — just styled a little lighter and brighter.

Tell me… are you still loving brown, or are you ready for full-on color?

Brown, for me, all year round. My coloring (color analysis) is Deep Autumn, so brown is my black, it’s my primary neutral. I will wear brown with anything and everything, and have for 30+ years! Helpful, though, when it is on trend, to find pieces to build my wardrobe.

I’m the same! Except I just did my color analysis a year ago. I’ve been having SO much fun this past year with it being on trend, perfect timing!
