Best of 2020 | Top 10 Reader Favorites

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday with friends and family, and that had the chance to rest and relax. I love this quiet, lazy time while the kids are home, and the chance to reflect over the past year. I like to geek out a bit and dig into the analytics of what y’all loved most, too.

So for the next few days, I’m looking back at 2020 and sharing your top posts and products in each of the most popular categories… Style, Beauty, Fitness, to name a few! Today it’s all about the products that YOU loved most, in my three top categories… fashion, beauty, and home.

Hi Sugarplum Reader Top 10 // Fashion

Of course we had to start with fashion! Not surprising, your favorite pieces are closet staples for me, too! It’s interesting how our 2020 way of life impacted our purchases, with the main focus on comfort. No shocker my go-to bra (not just for lounging!) and no-wedgie undies made the list!

I’m beyond humbled that our Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collections ranked as the No. 1 top sellers across all categories… with the Flamingo Colorblock Dress being the most popular of them all. Here are your Top 10, in no particular order…

one. Wireless Bralette // This bra just *barely* missed landing on this year’s Sugarplum Favorite Things list. It’s comfortable, it’s supportive, and it’s super smooth, so no lines show through! I also love the racerback version.

two. Undies // Everyone needs good undies, and this is the only brand that I wear! They don’t show the dreaded VPL (Visible Panty Line), and are so soft, you barely know you’re wearing them.

three. Miller Sandals // These beloved flip flops are my most worn shoe ever, but especially during the Summer. The cost per wear is pennies at this point!

four. Notch Collar Blazer // I adore the fit of this chic blazer, so no wonder I have it in multiple colors! It’s a wardrobe staple for sure. I wear XS petite for the shrunken fit.

five. Scoop Neck Tank // I always get SO many messages when I wear this tank, so I’m not surprised it’s in your Top 10!

six. Joggers // Joggers have always been in heavy rotation for me, but 2020 made them an absolutely vital piece in my closet! This pair is super soft, with pockets and a drawstring waist. The best part is that they’re nice enough to wear out and about!

seven. Heart Necklace // It seems like I find a cute delicate necklace at the beginning of each year, and then stick to it for the long haul! This one is darling and goes with quite literally everything.

eight. Color Block Dress // The Flamingo Dress was the runaway best seller in our Gibson x HSP Celebrate Summer Collection! Bright colors and bold color-blocking, plus a fun ruffle neck and pockets… it might be my favorite piece I’ve ever designed!

nine. Jean Shorts // This pair of denim shorts isn’t too short, fit well, and are under $20… ladies and gentlemen, I think I found a unicorn! Y’all agreed and went crazy for them, too.

ten. Color Tile Bracelets // I love a good bracelet stack, and these bracelets add such a fun pop of color to any outfit! Y’all scooped these up left and right and especially loved the 40% discount! (Use code SUGARPLUM40 at checkout!)

Hi Sugarplum Reader Top 10 // Beauty

Next up is Beauty! I am beginning to notice a pattern here… your Top 10 Faves are products I use just about every day! This also means you trust me, and that is something I take very seriously and will never recommend anything to you that I wouldn’t insist Mama Sugarplum try!

one. tarte Fake Awake Eyeliner // This waterline eyeliner is a no brainer if you want brighter, more awake-looking eyes!

two. Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector // The hair treatment product that started my love affair with all things Olaplex! My hair has never been healthier, and I owe it all to this little bottle of magic.

three. De-Puff Eye Patches // You ladies love your masks and patches… my DMs exploded the first time I dared show myself with these on! They wake your under-eyes up and really help to decrease puffiness.

four. Colleen Rothschild Peel Pads // Who doesn’t want a little spa treatment in a jar?! These glycolic acid peel pads dissolve all the pore-clogging gunk on your face while targeting fine lines and hyperpigmentation. Um… yes, please! (Use code SUGARPLUM20 to save!)

five. tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip // I’m thrilled y’all share my love of tarte! This lip gloss adds subtle color and shine, which is perfect for feeling put together at home!

six. Le Labo Santal Parfum // This is the only perfume I wear! It’s unisex, so Mr. SP sprays it on, too! I’m giddy that there is also a candle, laundry detergent, and shower gel.

seven. Eyelash Curler // I was not aware that not all eyelash curlers were created equally until Suzie Moldavon whipped me in to shape! This curler makes your eyes pop without damaging your lashes.

eight. amika Blow Dry Brush // I found this later in the year, but I’m not surprised that it still made your Top 10! It gives you a salon-worthy blowout in no time. Little Miss was hoping that it was under the tree with her name on it!

nine. Olehenriksen Oil Control Toner // This brand kept coming up when I’d ask for your favorite skincare products, and man am I glad it’s now in my beauty arsenal! This toner unclogs pores without drying out your face.

ten. Colleen Rothschild Microfiber Hair Towel // This Top 10 item may have surprised me a little bit?! But honestly, I’m not sure why because it’s the best hair wrap I’ve found. It soaks up so much excess water and cuts drying time way down!

Hi Sugarplum Reader Top 10 // Home

Rounding out your Top 10 Favorites is the Home category! No surprise the Our Place pan made the cut, I’m beyond smitten, as did my faux fiddle leaf fig. Two years later and she’s still alive, ha!

one. Mirror // This mirror is serious bang for your buck, and not only spruced up our guest bath, but lives in the lake house now, too!

two. Plush Throw Blanket // Mama Sugarplum will be so pleased that y’all love this blanket as much as she does! It’s made the Mama Sugarplum Favorite Things list two years in a row!

three. Our Place Always Pan // This little skillet that could took over the internet this year! #thanksOprah I’m obsessed with it like everyone else… literally nothing sticks to it. It’s a cooking miracle!

four. Marble Tray // This tray might be marketed as a cheese board, but I use it in my bathroom to house all of my products! It looks so sleek on the counter and matches the gold hardware. (Find the rest of our Master Bathroom sources HERE.)

five. Under-Seat Carry-On Bag // Even though we did far less traveling in 2020, this handy under-seat carry-on bag still made it into your Top 10! This bag rolls, has a slot to attach it to your larger luggage, and has about a zillion pockets! It’s truly the best bag to travel smarter with.

six. Framed Art // You’ll never believe the price of this framed art… it looks incredible in bookcases, or part of a colorful gallery wall.

seven. Brass Hardware // Isn’t it funny what makes it onto this list?! Brass cabinet pulls, of all things! I do love this hardware though, and am still in love with our kitchen design two years later! (Find all other Kitchen sources HERE.)

eight. Woven Light Fixture // We are still smitten with our patio and pool remodel, it’s one of the most popular posts ever! (Find that HERE.) These fixtures really make our outdoor dining table stand out.

nine. Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig // This is one item that I am NOT surprised made this list! Keeping plants alive is not my forte, but I’m not always thrilled with how fake plants look you know, fake. But this one looks CRAZY REAL, but I can’t kill it!

ten. Patio Light Fixture // Not the most glamorous item I’ve ever featured on the blog, but so be it! Apparently y’all love a good light fixture!

It’s fun to see what items you gravitate to most, and I love that pretty much every one of these is on my own Top 10 list, too! Do you own and love any of these items? What makes your Top Ten favorite buy this year? Should I round up the top Amazon pieces, too? Happy Monday, lovebugs!

    Hi Cassie
I am glad you decided to stop watching or listening to the news. There’s a lot of hype yet as the story is unfolding. Right now we are reacting without the facts. It’s depressing and knowing our information is not trustworthy doesn’t help. Earlier this year I read that there is a part of our brain that puts the urge to lessen or read the news hoping for good news. Our brains are wired this way- something your hubby probably knows more about. Anyway, we all need to engage in things that create a well mind, body, emotion and spirit now. Just so you know posting about clothes, home finds and makeup, your lake home is so needed and welcomed. You are not being inconsiderate or thoughtless when you post. You stated your heartbreak, sadness and fear. We have enough resources to give us ‘the news’. There isn’t enough resources to help with mental health. Think of your blog as being here for us during a very dark, sad, fearful time in our country. Thank you thank you for all you do.
