I hope you all had a fun evening spent with someone you adore. We had a nice dinner at home and I’m still recovering from the large amount of cookie cake I inhaled ate. But with Valentine’s Day behind us, and no holidays in the imminent future, it’s time to tackle Babygirl’s Room once and for all!
It’s embarrassing when I think about how long it’s taking me to make over my daughter’s room (I started posting it early last fall!)!! It’s totally ridiculous, she’s even lost interest. There is something so fabulous about being able to design a room in a solid block of time, then do a big reveal of the outcome. (Remember my son’s expression when he saw his new room for the first time?) Babygirl isn’t getting a “Move That Bus!” moment, but I know she likes what I’ve done so far.
I promise to complete this room soon, if only because my ADD is kicking in for other rooms! (Hello, Dining Room drape samples have arrived!) And if you follow me on Facebook, you’ve seen the progress made on fixing my Ceiling Mishap. I plan to finish that project this weekend.
How about something I have finished?! Remember these Personalized Art Tins I made in 2007?!
My little girl loves to color and was stealing so jealous of her brother’s nifty set, so she got her own. She also loves to play waitress, so I deemed a clipboard necessary for her to take orders properly.
1. Pick up a basic clipboard at an office supply store for less than $2.
2. Paint the sides, top and back. Adopt-A-Shark sticker optional, my helper declared it necessary.
3. Glue a sheet of scrapbook paper (mine just happens to look like notebook paper) to the front, trim to fit and cover with a few coats of ModPodge.
Here’s how it’s all coming together:
I hung these caddies from this rail (or Kroken if you speak Ikea). At $4 each, she’s got the makings of her own Art Center for only $12!
This corner of the room is too small for furniture, so I’m utilizing the sliver of wall to make the most of the space. I added this magnetic/writing board for a full-blown Creative Corner!
Next she needs a flat surface on which to work…I’ll show you what I came up with tomorrow. What do you think so far? And better yet, why does my daughter have her own crafting corner while I continue to create on the kitchen floor?!?

the design process can take time so don't be embarassed! the thing that matters is that it is all coming together beautifull! i love the art center- i can't wait for emmy to be old enough… make that responsible enough… to have buckets of markers and such in her room! we have tried and they end up bleeding on her ber. yuck!
hope you got to at least taste some of that cookie cake as you sucked it down! 😉 i had cheesecake… and i ate it really slowly so i could savor it because i knew i wasn't having it again int a while!
Oh and this would be such a good idea to do WITH the kids!!! Storing in my memory 😉
Oh it takes me ages to do anything! At the moment we're saving to put wooden floors in and there is no point decorating with the existing green carpet!!

I love the craft corner… I was just thinking the other day I need a better system for storing coloring supplies… for my dogs sake we need to move on from crayons. My backyard is a rainbow landmine, if you know what I mean 🙂
Love that idea! Cute and functional, the best of both worlds! Isn't it hilarious how we work so hard on projects for all sorts of things for out kids, but never get around to the ones for ourselves???

Don't feel bad I started making over my guest bedroom in the fall with plans to show it off before Christmas too!… ya, still working on it.
I have been in my house two years and have yet to touch our master bedroom. My guest bath is just hanging out waiting to get done. You are working at your own pace…it will get done!
The craft cay is a fabulous idea! I have one from Ikea too that I use in my bathroom. They are so versatile.

I love it! What a lucky little girl:) Don't stress about it taking long.. one day it will all come together. Then you can sit back, relax and plan a space for you to do your crafts!
