Happy Valentine’s Day, my sweets! I hope you had a fabulous weekend full of fun and sweet treats. We had two birthday parties, a soccer practice, a family lunch and an evening at Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Ovo.’ It was absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend it if it comes to your city. Those performers have mind-blowing talent…and I’m quite sure one girl didn’t have a spine.
The final act is a combination of a rock climbing wall and trampolines, and left us with our mouths gaping and hearts racing. Thank you to Oh So Cynthia for the tickets!
That didn’t leave much time for projects, but I was able to make 50 Valentines for my kid’s school parties today. Remember the round-up of free Valentine Printables I posted? I couldn’t get the cute Zebra Cards by BunnyCakes out of my head, so I splurged the $4.50 to have her personalize them for my daughter (worth that much to not have to sign 25 cards!).
I simply printed the file BunnyCakes emailed me, and hot glued them to squares of glittered scrapbook paper. Then hot glued the entire card to a box of Sweethearts (4 for a $1 a the Dollar Store!).
And since my son didn’t inform me until Friday that he needed a decorated box and 25 Valentines, I was forced to come up with something on my own, and quickly. He’s almost 10, so anything too cute or sweet was out…and definitely nothing that indicated affection (“Gross, Mom!”)! I found a box of suckers in the Bridal aisle at Michaels and thought the pink and red would work perfectly for Valentine’s Day.
I just tied Key Tags (from office supply stores) to each sucker with ribbon. I also covered a shoe box in red and white striped wrapping paper for him to decorate. Valentine’s Day is simple for him, as it’s still just about the candy!
Simple, sweet and thoughtful.
We’ll stay in tonight and make a fun dinner together (heart shaped pasta on the menu). What about you guys? Special plans for the evening, or did you celebrate this weekend?
What sweet valentines! We are staying in with some lovely heart shaped lobster raviolis. Delicious. I hope you have a great day.
I want to know how you make/where you get heart shaped pasta! Tell the kiddos Happy Vday from their favorite babysitter.
Ok I feel like a total failure for sending my daughter to school with store bought Valentine's and a bag of candy. How adorable are both sets you made? Seriously so so cute. You've inspired me to do better next year:) xo
those valentine's are just too cute! what lucky kids in their classes! 🙂
Adorable zebra cards! Sloan will be the coolest kid in class. Great job, momma!
Love the Valentine's! The suckers were a great choice, and the tags perfect. Kate gave the girls on her team fleece blankets with heart cutout edges tied with a Valentine ribbon at the tournament this weekend. The players wore their ribbons in their hair for Saturday's matches. The blankets came in handy, it was a bit chilly.
We saw Ovo in Atlanta in December and it was amazing…my favorite Cirque so far! You made such cute Valentines! We are just making diner at home tonight and spent a lot of quality time together over the weekend!
Great idea with the suckers, they look awesome. I'm so glad Lilly is still young enough that I didn't have to do anything like that 😉
You are such a good mom!!! Luke informed me Friday night as well about all the Valentine's – I'm afraid his look nowhere near as fancy as yours!! Circe de soliel..definitely want to go!
Great last minute ideas. Sounds like you had a fun weekend.
I just love Sloan's Valentine's! I wouldn't be able to get those cute little zebras out of my head either. 🙂 Good find with the lollipops!
We are staying in too! Heart shaped pasta is too fun! Where did you find it?
i exhausted just reading it, you are incredible. please send some of your energy my way!
btw- i adore both of the valentines!
I was already in love with those zebra valentines, but the way you finished them up is just precious! She is going to be one popular girl at school! (c: And as for the dudes…yep, it's just all about the candy! Happy Valentine's Day!
Wow! You are an uber mom for sure. I sent Jack to the corner store with his Dad to pick out tacky Transformer themed V cards. Oh well.
The zebra cards are way better than the Tangled cards my daughter insisted on! Happy Hearts Day!
Seriously you are the best mum! I cant believe you have to send out all those valentines! I love those cute cards and the lollipops are perfect! We celebrated valentines last night with a trip to asia de cuba – yummy! Happy Valentines day hun! xo
Isn't Cirque du Soleil fabulous? I was in awe the entire evening. What an amazing mom you are! Those Valentine's are adorable! I don't rememebr getting anything that fun when I was a kid. Lucky kids to receive those today! Happy Valentine's Day, Cassie.
What a fun weekend! And I love the valentine treats you made. You are so thoughtful!
Wow, you are super mom, I bet they were the nicest in their class!
Happy Vday, missy!!
🙂
Sooo CUTE! I totally used your Zebra Valentine Print-Outs you posted too (but for my co-workers & not as cute as yours) and we are having Eat-Your-Heart-Out Pasta too tonight (At HomeGoods they have Shamrock pasta for St. Patricks Day-nothing Irish about pasta but still cute!) after a fun weekend at Disney! Happy Heart Day!!
So cute! And how fun (: Heart shaped pasta. You're the best mom ever!
Those are precious. I love the zebras. I looked closely at those Cirque photos and thought I saw you in one of the unitards. who knew!
I agree with the other Courtney that one of the Ovo performers was you in a unitard (who knew!). In any case, I love the zebra valentines — makes me almost want to have kids so I can do stuff like this….I can't quite send The Partner off with a box of glittered cards to pass out to his patients….or could I? Hmmmm.
Adorable! Hudsons preschool doesn't exchange valentines. I'm keeping these cute ideas for next year. Happy Valentines Day!
Cirque du Soleil shows are amazing! I'm glad you caught this one! Looks like it was a good one. I've driven past the "big top" on my way home now a few times and wondered how it was.
Just found your blog and I have to agree with the others you truly are inspiring! The invites are adorable Love your Vday get up toooo cute! I'll have to check you out again. PS I love the Cirque de Soile I have seen 4 shows in Vegas and hope to see them all they truly rock it!! The best i've seen was "O" at Belagio absolutely AMAZING the best performers and stage I have ever seen.
So cute! When I was younger, we just gave each other cards…I missed out haha
Bothe are A-dorable! Great job 🙂
Happy V-day to you!
Both of these Valentine ideas are adorable!! Heart shaped pasta sounds so fun!! Happy Valentine's Day!!
Those lolipops are so cute! And for your 12 year old inner boy name . . .what about Skip, Skipper, Skippy . . .???
I am sure the kiddos were thrilled with such a cute display of sweets. You really did a nice job. So funny about Cirque–I received tickets for V-day. It's my husbands' all time favourite show.
you are such a good mom! The valentine printables were also adorable, totally worth the $4.50
The valentines turned out GREAT! I love what you did for the suckers!
