Amazon Fashion Finds | January

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend!! It’s a bittersweet one around here… our son heads back to college Sunday. My heart has felt such peace having all my people together for the last month. We had some tension with his re-entry in to family life his first week home, but we quickly got our rhythm back… and now he’s off again.

It still feels so unnatural to have him separated from us. I can’t help but worry if it’s always going to feel like this? I’m trying not to let the dread ruin our last few days though. For the rest of you going through this transition of parenting, I feel your pain! And for those of you stepping on legos and wiping noses, I assure you they’ll be at this stage before you know it!

But today is time for your favorite monthly series, Amazon Fashion Finds! I started these Fashion Finds last Summer, and they quickly become reader-faves. It takes some intense digging to find the good stuff, but I love the challenge of discovering such gems! And remember, I’d never share anything with you that I wouldn’t wear myself, or recommend to my best friend! Here is this month’s best of the batch…

Sizing info: I’m 5’4″ 120-ish pounds, and usually wear an XS/0 and 26 jeans. My fit tips and size recommendations are included with each description.

Sweaters //

I never met a fair isle I didn’t love, and this one is no different. The shades of pink, navy and gray are so fresh for Winter (it would be darling with white jeans!), and the sweater is warm and soft. I like the taller crewneck and slim fit through the body, too.

These jeans you’ll see on repeat through the entire post… I LOVE them! A true denim with a touch of stretch, they offer a bit of control and support with a mid-rise. They’re straight through the leg, but not baggy or shapeless, and I’m obsessed with the little flare at the ankle… so darling with sneakers and flats. Plus, thanks to the slightly cropped length, they hit the ankle perfectly.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS sweater and 26 jeans, both TTS

Fair Isle Sweater | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

Probably my favorite sweater find of the month… this tunic is so warm and soft, with a ton of stretch and a relaxed neck. The longer length means leggings or jeans, and I like that while it may be oversized, it’s not shapeless.

These jeans are a recent find from one of my go-to denim brands (not from Amazon), and I’ve been wearing them non-stop. They have a nice high-rise that keeps me all tucked in, a super dark rinse, and a great ankle length.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS sweater and size 2 jeans, both TTS

Tunic Sweater | Jeans | Slides

Long cardigans are always reader-favorites, and this is a good one. Super thick and warm boucle, with a soft finish and heavy feel… it’s perfect for Winter. I love the longer length to cover the bum, and easy pockets. I paired it with the tee I found last month… it’s now my top 2 favorite white tees!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small

Chunky Cardigan | White Tee | Distressed Jeans | Booties

I’m smitten by these playful polka dots, but love the chic color combo of camel and black. The sweater is extra thick and stretchy with a soft finish. It has stretchy ribbing at the hem and wrists, and a slight dropped shoulder for a relaxed fit.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a XS

Polka Dot Sweater | Jeans | Slides

This crewneck has a fun colorblock of grays and blush, with subtle cut-out pattern. It’s a medium weight, perfect for pairing with trousers or pencil skirt for work. It’s soft and stretchy, and a great Amazon house brand.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a XS

Striped Sweater | Jeans | Slides

I’m cracking up how this leopard sweater blends with my wallpaper! This fun option has feminine balloon sleeves and a blouse-y bodice, giving it a little extra flair. It’d be cute with black jeans and knee boots! I’d choose one of the other colors to better suit my skin tone.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small

Pullovers & Tees //

This hoodie pullover is lined in the softest brush fleece, making it crazy cozy! The fit is classic sweatshirt, with kangaroo pocket and hood, in a soft and sturdy cotton blend. It’s a high quality sweatshirt cute enough for jeans or joggers.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS on the left and Small on the right. I prefer the slightly oversized fit.

Hooded Pullover Sweatshirt | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

I actually ordered this pullover for Little Miss this Christmas, and as soon as it arrived I ordered another for me! It’s made of that sherpa that feels almost silky… you know what I mean? Super soft and stretchy, with cute contrasting trim and curved hem. I love it with jeans and workout leggings.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small

Sherpa Pullover | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

Graphic tees are another reader-favorite, and I love the sweet sentiment and simple font of this one. It’s a sweatshirt style, but feels more like an extra-thick long sleeve tee.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small

‘Be Kind’ Tee | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

I loved this long-sleeve tee so much last month, I had to go back for stripes. Incredible quality, super soft, with just a touch of stretch… it’s a great wardrobe staple.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small

Striped Tee | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

If you prefer pullovers with more structure, this one is for you! It’s fitted through the shoulder and chest and looks great with jeans or workout leggings. It’s fleece-lined and extra thick for serious warmth, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but considering the minimal stretch, I’d definitely size up.

Sherpa Pullover | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

Jackets & Vests //

I have this thing for zip-up jackets right now… I’m wearing them more than pullovers even! They’re so easy to throw on over any shirt or post-workout, and I was instantly smitten with this one! Crazy soft and cozy, the teddy bear sherpa has a cute little collar and front pockets. It’s shedding quite a bit now, but think that will go away after the first washing. The zipper on mine stuck a little, too, but I rarely zip them… so if you don’t either, I highly recommend this one!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small

Teddy Bear Jacket | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

Pause right here…if you don’t have a good utility jacket in your closet, order this one now! It’s a wardrobe staple you’ll wear year-round and it never goes out of style! And they don’t come any more well-made than this one. It’s a sturdy canvas twill with all the great details like stand-up collar, double pockets, fitted shoulder and perfect length. Wear it over dresses in spring and tees in fall, it’s a classic piece every closet needs.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a XS

Utility Jacket | Fave White Tee | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

For my puffer fans… this plaid was made for you! So preppy and cute, with an incredible mix of colors. Wear it with leggings and joggers, or jeans with sneakers or boots. So cute with a stripe, too! It’s thick and well-made, but not too bulky.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small

Plaid Puffer Vest | Long Sleeve Tee | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

Another vest favorite… this one is longer (great for workout days) and super warm thanks to the fleece lining. I love it layered over this hooded tunic, and of course, my go-to workout leggings!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS vest, small tunic, and XXS leggings

Puffer Vest | Hooded Tunic Top | Leggings | Sneakers

This jacket instantly blew me away with the quality and fit… it seriously feels like something straight out of Lululemon. A lightweight insulated thermal hoodie with quilted torso, it’s the perfect jacket for outdoor exercises… or throwing on after a gym class. I love the hood with adjustable strings and slightly longer back. It has a range of pockets, perfect for stashing phone and keys.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a Small jacket, but would prefer my usual XS for a closer fit, and XXS in leggings

Jacket | Camo Leggings

Leggings //

Since I now reach for my Amazon leggings more than any other for workouts, I figured it was time to get another color. I’m not one for colorful workout leggings, so I love that this camo print gives me the sleekness of black, but with a fun pattern. I love the high waist and matte finish, and they feel like a second skin during workouts!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XXS, I recommend sizing down one if you have a small waist.

Sherpa Pullover | Camo Leggings | Sneakers

Accessories //

My accessories search wasn’t as successful this month, but I did find incredible belt options!! These classic shapes add great style to any outfit, and the price means you don’t have to choose between brown or black! The faux leather is really well done, and they’re the perfect thickness and finish.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 26.

Brown Circle Belt | Black Circle Belt | Leopard Circle Belt (sold as a set of 3 for less HERE!)

I actually found this darling tweed crossbody bag last month, but I had some requests to see it on (for size reference). I love how it instantly adds style to even the most basic of outfits! Plus, it’s a classic for all your dressy styles, too.

Fave White Tee | Straight Leg Jeans | Sneakers

  2. Utility Jacket
  3. Tunic Sweater
  4. Teddy Bear Jacket
  5. Insulated Quilted Jacket

As for the most popular from our Amazon Fashion Finds of December, here are your Top 5:

I love all the vests. I own 5 and wear them with jeans, or velvet pants. Very versatile. I just wanted to comment about the changes you are experiencing with your son leaving for college. We have just one daughter, and it would have been so easy to be out of sorts when she left for school. We experienced just the opposite – we were so happy for her to be able to have this experience and that we had the means to pay for it without any loans, and that overshadowed any sadness we may have felt. I remember saying to my husband when we dropped her off at college – I’m jealous!! We have enjoyed seeing her grow and experience all the ups and downs of becoming an adult, letting her make her own choices while at the same time being there for her when needed. She is now a Ph.D, a college professor, married, with two young daughters, and a very accomplished woman, but she is still very much our little girl! That will never change. Enjoy the journey!

The polka dot sweater ! It’s going to look cute with black skirts/pants, so thank you–my first purchase of the new year:) I also bought the Tula eye cream-and kept thinking of the scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the mother finds her daughter crying and says Tula Tula Tula! ( I think her name was spelled Toula). Happy weekend:)

Amazon suggested ordering a half size up on the GG dupes, would you agree? Also, fo you find them comfortable or do you recommend an insert? I am hoping to find a good dupe to get my daughter for Valentine’s day!

I would love to get your recommendations for dressing for travel. My situation will be traveling to Israel next month. We will hit the ground running when we land so I need something extremely comfortable for the ability to sleep on the airplane but also needs to translate to appropriate day wear. I tried to do this on a recent trip by wearing leggings, graphic T and a relaxed fit long sweater, but and I just felt like a slob the next day walking around. I don’t mind freshening up on the airplane before landing but didn’t want to fully change clothes.

The camo leggings are great!! I got that same pair for Christmas and love them. They stay in place and passed the squat test. So comfortable and the camo acts as a neutral so most any color top works ( I don’t like bright pants ).

Question about the leggings….do they have a smooth top of the waistband? Or do they have the small elastic band at the top? I absolutely hate the ones that have that bit of elastic at the top. (I carry my weight in my tummy) Just curious before I purchase. Also, my boy is 23. Although he never went off to college he moved out right after high school. It was very difficult in the beginning. Now I am happy that he is out living his own life. The worry is still there but it has lessened. Hang in there, Mama!

YES!! They feel seamless at the waist and ankle, but don’t roll down at all!! So smooth and don’t cut in either.

I love the camo leggings! I’m a distance runner and love to have some style to my workout clothes, but they have to be functional. So much of the athletic wear is geared towards athleisure and not real life working out. I’ve bought the shorts in that same brand and they were awesome but I hesitated on the leggings as I’m partial to a few particular brands. After reading through reviews I decided to take a chance because I wanted a black camo pair, and went with the XS (I wear Lulu sz4 or sz 25/0). I did an 8 mile run and they didn’t budge or slip once! The waist was slightly big but the next size down wasn’t as squat proof which is a common issue for me. Even with that they stayed in place for my run! Love!!

So happy to hear it!!! I run the treadmill in mine and found I prefer the firmer fit at the waist on a size down, but love how they don’t sag or move!!!

I totally get the changing family dynamics. I’ve had to tell an 18-yr old Marine son home on leave that just because he just went through 13 weeks of boot camp hell doesn’t mean you can wander out all hours of the night and not check in…and another son home from college the same thing. There’s a lot of testosterone and newly found independence at that age and in that first year away from home. You have a good kid, and you’ve been excellent parents, this is all completely normal. Just growing pains! 🙂
