Work to Weekend

Cheers to Friday! What’s on your agenda for the weekend? We’ve got a soccer game and an organizing project to tackle, but that’s about it, and I’m thrilled with the lack of plans! We’re headed out of town for Spring Break, so maybe I’ll actually get a jump on the laundry/packing/planning that comes with getting a family of four on an airplane! Or maybe I’ll just binge Netflix. My money’s on Netflix.

I get a lot of requests for work-appropriate styles, so I’ve been trying to include them more often. Granted, my work environment is fairly casual, so some of them might still be too laid-back for you, but hopefully you can adapt them to fit your office.

These sassy shoes have quickly become my latest obsession (I picked them up for our trip to NYC last week)…I knew they were darling with the saucy tie on the back, but I was shocked by just how comfortable they are! And the thicker straps keep me from feeling too exposed this time of year.

So since I’ve been looking for opportunities to wear them, I created {Work to Weekend} styles around them, and my trusty white oxford.

I love the feeling I get when I put on a blazer…like I really mean business! #girlpower I seem to reach for it when I have a meeting where I want to be taken seriously, but I also love it paired with a white tee and booties.

Style Tip: Pearls or something blingy keep business attire from looking too masculine. I can still be a #girlboss without looking like a man! #girlsruleboysdrool

The heels look great peeking out of trousers, but I opted for dark-rinse jeans so I could cuff them and show the cute tie-back. We’re still another month or so away from being able to wear skirts again (without tights anyway), but they’ll definitely transition with the season. These are a great closed-toe version without the tie if that’s more your style

This classic bag is perfect for  carrying my laptop, and the soft pink shade adds a feminine touch. (It’s also a great Look for Less for this high-end bag!)

Now let’s switch it up for the weekend! The heels make it a great edgy {Date Night Style}, but you could easily swap them for booties for a more casual day look.

Style Tip: Statement earrings, a clutch, and heels easily transition day looks to night.

Do you have any saucy heels that make you feel empowered? Well, you should! And do blazers work #girlpower magic on you, too? Oh, and sidenote…my sweater was flipped up in the Weekend look, unbeknownst to me…it’s not, nor is it intended to be, a crop top.  #aintnobodygotabsforthat Happy weekend, lovebugs!

Love those turquoise earrings!! I wear scrubs and tees to work…can you do a post on that? JK!! Anyway, do you think there is an age where ripped/highly distressed jeans become someone trying to hard to look young? I love them, but am just wondering if I could still pull that off.

Where y'all going for Spring Break?

    • I know you are rocking those scrubs!! But how refreshing to not have to overthink what you wear to work, right!? This is so cliche, but I think age is just a number and state of mind…you can 'get away with' any style you want as long as you still feel comfortable. When you stop feeling comfortable in it, then maybe that's the time to stop wearing it. It's all about the confidence and how you carry yourself. So if you're self-conscious in ripped jeans, maybe don't wear them. There are so many flattering, on-trend denim styles to wear and feel amazing in! So far I still love my distressed denim, but there are certainly other styles and trends I've put away because I felt too similar to my son's friends! 😉 xo

  2. Hi Cassi. Gorgeous looks you have there. Very doable for me. Thank you. BTW I managed to order the leg lifts in the UK from Amazon. They arrived yesterday and were posted from Germany.

I thought the crop top was deliberate and looked very fresh to me. Love the shoes … on your feet. Mine won't let me have them.

Hi Cassie! I cannot wear jeans to work {loud sobs}. would you mind pulling together a post on work styles which don't include jeans?

    Posted 2.26.16 Reply
    • Hi Kristy! This first look I'd normally wear with black trousers, but wanted you guys to see the fun shoes, so photographed it with jeans. I do a lot of slacks and blouses this time of year, but once it warms up, I switch over to skirts and dresses…and there's a lot of those posts on the blog already. Check out those graphics in the sidebar to take you to them! Hope that helps! xo

  8. Oh my, you always look so fierce! My mama bought me a pair of super sexy Sam Edelman heels for my birthday last year, and they always make be feel amazing. And, I used to love blazers for work, and I know I love them for date nights and girls nights and anytime I want to look like a boss 🙂

    Enjoy your weekend!

  11. I am dying over those shoes…and I love a great blazer. I seriously have one that is almost 12 years old that I bought at the Gap and it is so perfect but needs to be replaced desperately and I just haven't found the perfect one .
