Happy Monday, friends, and welcome back to a new week! I hope you had a fun weekend savoring these summer days. The break is flying by, and we’re only a few short weeks away from the new school year!
I’m feeling especially nostalgic about this year since Sloan will be a senior!! The year of ‘lasts’ is about to begin for my last baby! #gulp I know the year will absolutely fly by, so I’m gearing up for all the emotions.
Believe it or not, we’ve been in this new house for almost a year already! The move happened so quickly and unexpectedly the week before school started last year, so it was a mad-scramble, with the goal for her room simply to be settled ‘enough’ to start her new school.
We’ve slowly been transitioning her room to reflect the young woman she’s become, and while we’re still tweaking a few things, this year she’ll be able to start her senior year in a space that feels true to herself.

When it came time to find a new bed and rug, I went to my go-to spot for all-things-home… Wayfair! Every single room in my house has a Wayfair find, from beds and sconces to cabinet hardware and rugs. They have a huge selection, great prices, and the shipping is always fast!
For her room, she was very specific on what she wanted… and more importantly, what she didn’t want… i.e. ‘not too much color’, ha! So I fought the urge to create the room of my teen dreams, and gave her what she wanted… a serene space where she could rest, study, and hang with friends.
We re-used many of the pieces from her old room, and shopped the house as much as possible, and we’re both in love with the space!

This rug is an incredible find… it’s neutral without being bland, is great quality, and soft enough for lounging. Not to mention the amazing price!! I love layering this pad under thinner rugs like this one in our Foyer and this one in our Bedroom, but this rug is plush enough to skip a pad (we just put sticky strips on the corners to keep it from slipping).
Sloan wanted a neutral bed that allowed her to mix up the pillows, and tall enough to lean against, and this upholstered bed in ‘talc linen’ fit the bill exactly! It shipped super fast, and she easily assembled it by herself in about an hour! We even found this affordable box spring on Wayfair… it arrives as separated slats that easily pop together for the full frame. #genius!
The bed is beautiful in person, great quality, and super sturdy… we could not be happier with it!

Her room is on the smaller side, and the doors and window made furniture placement tricky… so rather than buy dressers and bookcases for storage, we opted for these custom built-ins. I love how they frame the window, and give her so much storage and display space! The arches are mirrored from around the house, and add such a custom look.
She uses the drawers for all her non-hanging clothes and blankets, and the shelves hold her accessories, keepsakes, and more. We’ll add a cushion for the window seat, too.

I’m crazy about the fluted detail on the front of the drawers for added texture, and these pulls are perfect for not breaking up the design.
The nightstand is another Wayfair find…she needed something fairly small for the nook, and just enough storage for her night-time essentials. This one has a great wood finish, fun texture on the front, and I loved how the pulls mirrored those on the built-ins.
You may recognize her desk from the last house, the chair from my old office, and the lamp and art from our previous family room! She uses this spot for studying and as a vanity, with both school supplies and makeup housed in the drawers.

We’ve still got a few things we want to do, like add some more art and a window seat cushion, but for the most part, she has an organized, zen space ready to tackle a new school year!
