Top Beauty Must-Haves (All on Sale!)

Happy almost-weekend, friends! We wrapped shooting for our third Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collection last night, and we’re headed home today with so much excitement and anticipation!! It was an unbelievable two days…did you see the fun behind-the-scenes on my Instagram Story?! I saved it to my Highlights if you want to see a few sneak peeks of what’s to come!

I loved hearing about your Faves yesterday, and that we have so many in common. And speaking of faves, today I’m sharing several more from the beauty department because they’re all on sale!!

In the span of the last year, I’ve gone from fairly ambivalent about make-up, to almost passionate about it! Living with a 13-year-old daughter obsessed with beauty bloggers though, it was bound to happen! Combine that with several sessions with an award-winning make-up artist, and I love nothing more than browsing the aisles of Sephora!

In fact, it’s how Little Miss and I spend many of our ‘girl days’ together. She’s usually pointing out the newest products I need to try, while I stock up on my tried-and-true favorites. And we never leave empty-handed. Especially now, with the Spring Bonus Event happening!!

If you’re not familiar, the Sephora Spring Bonus Event is a site-wide and in-store event happening NOW, and open to all Beauty Insider Members for unlimited use. Not a member? No worries, simply sign-up for immediate access to the offers as a Beauty Insider (it’s fast and free!). But hurry, this Event ends Monday, May 6!

  • Rouge Members get 20% off purchases in store and online. Use code HEYROUGE
  • VIB Members get 15% off purchase in store and online. Use code HEYVIB
  • Insiders get 10% off. Use code HEYINSIDER

I use it as an opportunity to stock-up on my stand-by faves, and try new products. These are my Top Ten Must Haves for Makeup and Hair, most should come as no surprise since you’ve heard me raving about them for years.

Hi Sugarplum Must Have Makeup

iT Cosmetics Illumination CC Cream + SPF // Not only does this give the right amount of coverage for everyday, it’s fail-proof application and has 50 SPF. I love the Illuminating formula for more glow, but it’s also available in normal. I use a flat brush to first dab the product all over my face, then a circular motion for an airbrush effect. For lighter coverage, I love the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in ‘Alaska.’

Mama Sugarplum swears by it too, and insists iT Cosmetics Illumination CC Cream is what gives her that ‘glow.’

Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara in ‘Black’ // Y’all know I’m obsessed with this mascara…I’ve been raving about it for years. I love the large, fluffy brush for coating every single lash, and it layers beautifully for fuller, thicker lashes.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask // Okay, so not exactly makeup, but definitely a must-have for your face! I raved all about my love affair with this miracle balm in a recent Sugarplum Faves post.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in ‘Creme Broulee’ // I use this sparingly and not everyday, since I try to avoid extra products under my eyes. It’s creamy so it doesn’t make the skin under my eyes look crepey like so many others do, but covers dark circles and blemishes. Suzie Moldavan, the award-winning makeup artist that does my face for all the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collection shoots, has declared it the best, brightening concealer for all ages (but especially those of us over 35!).

Sidenote: Suzie shared an amazing brow tutorial in my GxHSP Highlight video over on my Instagram Story!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Lip Collection // I’ve shared a lot of bold pink lip shades over the years (it’s my signature color), but the ones I’m wearing most lately are from this Tarte Collection, sold exclusively at Sephora. I’m partial to ‘Sea Goddess,’ ‘Hibiscus,’ and ‘Ocean Drive.’ All are so bright and highly-pigmented, and wear so creamy. If I want to tone them down a bit, I layer the Tarte ‘Pink Sands’ H2O lip gloss.

Here’s a few others from my daily makeup routine…

Now let’s chat must have products for hair! Again, these have been in my daily arsenal for years, and I still stand behind them!

Hi Sugarplum Must Have Hair Products

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer // Is it pricey? For sure! Is it worth every penny? Absolutely! I bit the bullet last year and invested in this dryer, and I don’t know that I’ll ever use anything else! If you’ve had it on your wish list, now’s your chance to grab it on sale! Another great dryer, with a slightly better price point, the DryBar Buttercup is a solid choice!

DryBar Dry Shampoo // Another one of my Sugarplum Faves, this is hands-down the best dry shampoo I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot!). It works almost too well, and sometimes I actually lose count of how many days I’ve gone between shampooing. Plus, it smells amazing, and doesn’t leave any powdery residue.

Moroccan Oil Treatment // The best thing I do for my hair, honestly!! I apply it first to damp hair, and it works as a miracle detangler (especially with this brush) and heat protector. After styling, I rub a little through my hair to seal the ends and smooth the curls. It’s especially great on second-day hair, when ends start to fray a bit.

DryBar Shower Cap // Don’t laugh, but yes I have a shower cap on my beauty must have list!! It’s that important to me! Not your regular shower cap, this one is lined in terrycloth that whisks all moisture and humidity away from your hair, leaving it exactly as it was before your shower. I’ve gifted this to almost every girlfriend, and they all call me later to rave.

Living Proof Dry Volume Blast // Spray it throughout your dry, styled hair for more fullness, or concentrate it on the roots for lift. This Volume Blast smells like heaven and adds so much volume and texture, without weighing down your hair or leaving it feeling sticky.

I’m trying several of these products! Your mom just looks amazing! We are probably near the same age so I love it when you include what she uses as well. I have a granddaughter your daughter’s age. Can I ask what beauty blogs she likes to watch so I can pass it on to my granddaughter?

But I’ve been adding a heat protector because I didn’t think this one had one? It’s not listed in the description… does your Bottle say it does? Definitely would love to need less products!

Oh my gosh…it doesn’t have anything specific for heat protection!! I totally thought it did! Looks like I’m adding their heat spray to my routine!!

Well darn! I just had a sample bottle, thought maybe the regular was more informative. They should make it with heat protection for sure! I’ve received compliments on my hair ever since I started using it. Wondering what I was doing differently hahaha

Hi Sarah! All my brushes are iT Cosmetic brand…they sell them at Sephora and Ulta. As for sunscreen, the iT Cosmetic CC Cream has SPF50!

I always enjoy your beauty posts! I absolutely agree, that DryBar dry shampoo is the absolute best. I use their Dry Conditioner, too. And, thanks for adding a link to your blow dry brush. I’m in the market for a new and the Olivia Garden brand is my favorite.

Hi Angie!! This post is almost two years old, so I don’t have the exact link to that gray top. BUT, this one is very similar and from the same brand, Gibsonlook! xo, C
