You guys…I don’t know how these things happen, but I’m thrilled to be hosting The Dallas Garden Party on April 12,
brought to you by The Home Depot Garden Club! There’s going to be all
sorts of fun happening at the event…cooking, crafting, and planting stations, a personal chef and a professional
gardener, both offering Q&A, prizes and giveaways! And I’ll be
there to take some of the classes, too. I hope those of you in the DFW Metroplex will stop by to eat, and get your hands dirty with me!
In preparing for the Garden Party, I was motivated to show our neglected backyard some love. It was a long winter (by Texas standards, anyway…I know some of you that still have snow are laughing, and cursing, at me!). The first step is always the hardest, and least fun, since it involves a lot of sweeping, raking, power-washing and sneezing. But we’re off to a good start…
We’ve had this Martha Stewart dining set for well over 10 years, and except for a little rusting around the feet, it’s still in perfect condition. After a good scrubbing, and some cushions, it’s ready for a little dining al fresco. Do you spy the sweet face under the table?
Some new plants freshen up the tabletop, and surrounding area. Since I’m not convinced we won’t get one last freeze, I’m sticking to potted plants for now (that can easily be temporarily moved to the garage). I’ll wait a few more weeks to plant anything in the ground.
The butterfly chairs are clean, but they’ll likely need some fresh paint and new covers this year. Dare I try to sew them myself?! #staytuned
I was super impressed with their quality, and the furniture simply needed a quick wipe-down once we removed the covers.
Still pretty barren…but it’s a start.
A far cry from what it looked like last year, but we’ll get there.
I’m motivated to tackle the rest of the space, but I think I’ll wait until after the Garden Party…I have lots of questions for the experts! More info on the event, and an RSVP, can be found here. I hope you’ll come, I’d really love to meet you!
Update: The event will be from 1p to 4p, at the Home Depot at 6110 Lemmon Ave., Dallas 75209.
And if you’re not in the Dallas area, look for these other Garden Parties popping up around the country.
Love your outdoor space! Im on the hunt for all weather wicker, where did you find your wicker chairs?
Thanks Lindsey! They aren't actual wicker, but are more durable. I bought it ages ago at Home Depot…it's Martha Stewart brand. Hope this helps! xo
Wish I could come get my garden party on with you! xo
I am going to TRY to attend. If I do, I will look forward to meeting you!
Yay!! I'd love it!
Oh how I wish an event like this was coming to my area! I could definitely use some inspiration.
This has been a long winter for North Texas. (I'm in McKinney). I'm itching to get outside and plant as well. We did go ahead and plant a few jalapeno and tomato plants this last weekend and pulled all of the tropicals out of the garage and into the driveway (in case we need to shove them back in again if there's one last freeze).
And I love that colorful Mexican pottery your [fiddle leaf fig?] is in!
Oh I love the colored chair pads! I just attended the Phoenix Garden Party last weekend and had the best time. Here is a link to the post I wrote on my blog:

Wish I could attend your event as well.
Such a great re-cap…thanks for sharing, Laura!
yahhh! so excited for warmer weather! we have a few plants inside but im exited to move the party outdoors 🙂 xo jillian – cornflake dreams
At least your dog hangs out UNDER the table…one of our dogs like to lay on top of our table! I think being up there makes him feel like king of the yard. Anyway, I really need to start working on our yard now before it gets to hot in Phoenix!
Oh I cannot wait for the return of outdoor living! Maybe in like, I don't know, June??
Love your outdoor space! It's looking so good already! I need to get some more plants for ours!
So exciting Cassie!! I can't think of anyone better to host this!
