Happy almost-weekend, friends! It’s felt so good to have a full week at home, and finally feel like I’m falling back in to my usual work/home/life rhythm. With all the travel, I’d become accustomed to working at a frenetic pace, with more responsibilities than hours in the day, and that was starting to take a toll!
Not that life and work aren’t still busy and exciting, but somehow things are a bit more manageable when you get to sleep in your own bed! Am I right?!
Except after the latest progress in our Guest Bedroom, I’m thinking about switching it up. These beds are too good to save for just houseguests!

Even though I’m eager to get this room completed, I’m also enjoying taking my time to thoughtfully add new things as I find them. And when I found this luxe bedding from SFERRA at Bloomingdales, I knew it would be perfect!
I love the bright white, with just a touch of navy (tons of other colors are available, too)…it’s such a clean and crisp style. And even though it’s a bit of a splurge for a room that isn’t often used, I want our future guests to be comfortable and feel special when staying with us! Plus, the beds are pretty much the only furniture in the room, so they’re the focus.

We found the beds for a steal (details on those in this post), and so far the rest of the room is a collection of items we already owned, and pieces I’ve found at discount stores. I’ll be sure to give a full source list once the room is complete!
This is my first go at styling a twin bed, so I’m still playing with the pillows…but as of now, there are two Euros and a bolster. The rest of the bed is dressed with white sheets, coverlet, and a folded duvet at the end.
The SFERRA duvet and sham covers are equally crisp and soft, and feel like luxury!!

I also ordered this decorative ladder for throws, but for now, this gorgeous herringbone is draped over the end of the bed.
There’s still a long way to go…paint, drapes, additional lighting, and art. And now I’m thinking maybe wallpaper?! Either way, we’re off to a great start, and I no longer cringe when showing a guest to their room! Oh, and thank you for your great Guest Room tips…I’ll definitely be adding those ideas!
Bedding is my favorite place to splurge in a bedroom…after all, it’s where we spend a third of our lives! Where do you splurge in a bedroom?

I love how luxurious your bedding looks! The blue pattern looks so good with the gold decor. So glamorous! 🙂

I think it’s funny that those pillows are called Euro pillows/shams because I’ve lived in Europe for 18 years and have never owned a pillow of that shape and size since living here. Nor is is a type of pillow that I’ve come across very often in all of my European travels. Funny the names we give things to make them seem more exotic (like the “Texas” pizza that you can buy in the grocery stores in Austria and Germany, which, in my opinion as a Texan, has nothing to do with Texas cuisine).
LOL, that is interesting!!! I guess I just assumed Euro meant standard bed size for European beds?!?!
@Alison the square shaped pillow is very popular in France and I’ve also seen them being used in Switzerland
Very pretty! I love the little wicker stools at the ends of the beds, but you made no mention of them or the source? They are so cute!
I just found those at HomeGoods….still trying to decide if they’ll stay or not. I love the texture, but wish they were a tab bigger!
How exciting! I hope you go with wallpaper–makes everything super cozy.
Love the bedding – looks so snuggly!
Random question – where are those bracelets from? They look fun!
I love these bracelets!! They’re all weather, so I never took them off in Hawaii…such a fun touch to outfits. They also are a rubbery material so they are fine for airport security! Here’s the link, I have rose gold, size small: http://bit.ly/2OliJba
As someone who has spent some time in other people’s guest room, I always appreciate someplace I can put my suitcase opened up. Love the bed linen colors. Blue and white always look so fresh.
That’s a great tip!!! I love the blue, too, it’s a color I never tire of!
Love the bedding! Where did you find the other blue euro shame and lumbar pillows?
The chambray euro was a HomeGoods score, and here’s the link to the lumbar (on sale!): http://shopstyle.it/l/Tsu9
Where is the blue and white lamp from?
Would you believe I scored that at HomeGoods!? $50!!
Well, it’s off to a great start for sure! Very warm and welcoming looking. Your guests may not want to leave. Happy weekend!
Oh Cassie!
Your room is so tasteful…just like you! I admire all that you do in life. You certainly have one blessed life. I totally agree with your #pinchme! You put so much time, effort, and thought into your blog, and I love to come and read every day. What a lucky mama you are. Thanks for always being so open. I would love if you would let us know how your kids deal when you are gone. I totally get you take them to some fabulous places (Kauai, AMI…); however, those back to back cruises seemed like a long time to be away. I totally get they are grounded, awesome kids, but I am just curious how they do it, especially at the beginning of school. Would you have ever considered turning down your Princess family? I know the cruises are cheaper once traditional school starts, and that is why Princess like to #sponsor at that time, but I would be curious how your kids handle it. I totally get you booked Alaska before the British Isles, but would you have considered not going?
Please don’t get me wrong, I have watched you with your kids, and you are nothing short of incredible. I just want some insight because my children would have a hard time, and any advice would be appreciated.
I am in Plano as well; so, I know the dynamics of the school system. (Clark and Ereckson as well!)

Hi Shelly! You’re right, those back-to-back trips were a lot, and the timing wasn’t ideal. But it’s not something that’s ever happened before, so we handled it like we always do…as a family. We sat down as a family and talked it through…I got honest opinions from my kids and how they’d feel about us being gone that long, looked at their schedules, etc. And they both said, ‘GO!’
We also have a wonderful girl from our church they both adore that stays with them when we travel, so we all know they’re in good hands. I think it’s also important for our kids to see us chasing our dreams and working hard for our goals, as well as, see that mom and dad have a life and relationship that goes beyond them! A strong marriage is the best gift we can give our kids, IMO. xo. C
You keep doing you, Cassie! Just FYI the word selfish has been used more than once around the “girlies”. I know you and Mr. SP are deeply in love and you love to travel, but there has been a lot of whispering in the community. That being said, keep those dreams alive! I think people can get jealous and judgey. It’s too bad the kids get the brunt of it. I am just a concerned community member. Not sure your little one would ever share it. Felt like you would want to know. I would.
PNC, your passing those thoughts along make me wonder if you’re one of the gossiping ones. This seems like an attempt to tear down someone successful under the guise of ‘concern’ if you ask me 🧐
I appreciate your support and concern, but I don’t give any weight to whispering. As long as my family and my God know my truths, that’s all that matters to me. xo. C
I loved the twin beds from the original post a few weeks ago. I had no idea HD sold beds? It’s scary moving from queen guest bed to twins, but it makes sense especially as my nest heads to college! xo laura
Any recs. a for a duvet insert that won’t break the bank?
Hi Kendayl! Good gracious I am so sorry to just now be replying to your comment! Here is the duvet insert we got for the lake house, very happy with it!! xo, C
