Summer of Style | Red, White & Blue

Happy almost Friday, friends! How’s your week been so far?ย Today Iโ€™m excited to bring back my seasonal series, Summer of Style! My goal is always to inspire you, but also share ways to stretch your wardrobe. Youโ€™ve probably noticed that my style posts typically involve multiple styling optionsโ€ฆ but sometimes a girl just wants a simple outfit idea!

Especially in Summer, when the pace is slower, and style becomes a little simpler and more minimal. (At least in the Texas heat it does!) So Summer of Style is just thatโ€ฆ simple outfits to (hopefully) inspire your Summer wardrobe! Theyโ€™re easy-to-recreate combinations, that cover all aspects of your lifeโ€ฆ work, weekend, date night, and lazy pool/beach days. (See them all HERE.)

I’m kicking the series off this year with one of my favorite summertime colors… red, white and blue. I found the cutest pieces at Talbots… and bonus, they’re all 30-50% off as part of their Friends & Family Sale!

This fit-and-flare shirtdress buttons up the front with a scoop neck, and is my go-to flattering silhouette. It’s a super-soft 100% cotton, making it summer-ready, and I love how it moves and softly grazes the body. Texas humidity is no joke, so I’m very particular about my summer fabrics!

Talbots offers a full range of regular and petite sizing, and I find them true-to-size. The skirts and dresses are always a modest length.

Fit Tip: I’m 5’4″ and wearing a 2-petite.

The tie is removable, so you could easily change up the look by replacing it with a wide woven belt, or something fun like this one.

Scarfs are an easy way to add more style and personality to an outfit. I used this one to add a little color and pattern to the solid dress.

Now for the red and white… I was instantly smitten with this full skirt! It’s crisp and lightweight, and 100% breathable cotton. It zips up the side with a cute tie belt. I paired it a classic white shirt to allow the skirt to shine, and tucked it tight for a fit-and-flare silhouette.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 2-petite skirt and regular XS shirt. Both are available in regular, petite and plus… the shirt is even offered in plus-petite! I love Talbot’s size inclusivity!

No-Iron Shirt | Patterned Skirt | Similar Sandals

The sleeveless shirt buttons up the front with a v-neck opening. It’s cotton with just a touch of stretch to give it an incredible fit. But even better, it’s completely no-iron and wrinkle-free!

Which look is more your style… the blue or red and white? Do you love this color combo for summer, too? I think it’s just so fresh.

I actually really love Talbots lately – the modest lengths mean they actually work on my 5’11” self, the pants often come in curvy fit which fits me better, and I have been really happy with the quality!

I love both color combos and I adore the bright pattern on the skirt! Looking in my closet, I just realized I have tons of blues lol! Seersucker is my weakness, though (or any imitation of the thin blue/white stripes) & my college colors are Carolina (sky) blue & white, so it really shouldn’t have been as surprising ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

Everything looks so beautiful on you! Is the chambray dress closer to the colour on the website or in your pictures?

I am not a fan of Talbots, unless you are looking to add ten years and ten pounds.

It feels unauthentic that all of a sudden so many bloggers are promoting clothes from Talbots.

Iโ€™m really like the chambray dress. I feel it can be dressed up with heels or casual with flip flops. What color polish are you wearing on your toes? I love it,
