Happy Tuesday, loves! Today is a special day around here…we are officially a family of three adults and one child! Our son is 18! I honestly don’t know where the last 18 years went, but here we are!
It feels like just yesterday we were watching the fireworks from the hospital room, with our newborn son swaddled in the rolling cart beside us. And now he’s an almost 6-foot man with the deepest voice of anyone in our family!
He’s funny, smart, self-aware, confident, empathic, and always quick to smile. He’s a gentleman, and most of all, loves the Lord. I realize now my anxiety with him leaving for college isn’t so much about worrying about him…I have full confidence in his ability to take care of himself and make good choices…but rather, how much I’m going to miss him.
But let’s move on to today’s post…another fun Summer of Style, and this one a great combo for the Fourth!
Chambray Off-the-Shoulder Top (similar) | Woven Tote (similar) | Criss Cross Sandals | Similar White Shorts | Similar Sunglasses
It should come as no surprise by now that I found this darling top at Walmart…an unexpected source that continues to impress! This top is a soft, and sturdy true chambray, with a stretchy elastic band that keeps it firmly off-the-shoulder. It’s a great longer length for wearing out, or cute as a half-tuck.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, but runs a little big, so I’d size down one.

These criss-cross slides are incredible quality, with a comfortable padded insole. They come in three great neutrals…tan, black and metallic.
Fit Tip: Slides are true to size and come in half-sizes.
Woven Tote (similar) | Criss Cross Sandals | Pom Pom Trim Hat
I shared this tote before…honestly the best bag I’ve found all Summer, especially for the price! I have it in both this larger navy stripe and the medium multi-color stripe. They both sell out quickly, but you can sign up for email alerts on restocks to grab it as soon as it comes back. I honestly love every bag by this brand, you can find them all here.

Hi Cassie! You are my favorite influencer and one I look forward to hearing from first thing everyday. When I first started following you (you were my first influencer too) you wore brands that I wanted to buy from Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor. I honestly am not going to buy clothes from Amazon and Walmart. I feel like that and Gibson are all you share anymore. Please bring back Madewell and the slightly higher end stores mentioned above soon!!! Thank you.
Thanks so much for the feedback, Robi. I do try to share a range of styles and price points, while staying mindful of overall budget. As for Gibson, those are my own clothing lines, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help design clothes with my style and aesthetic! xo. C
Your son and I share a birthday!! Happy birthday to him! 🎁🎂🎉😊🎈
Thank you!! happy birthday to you, too!! xo. C
Happy Birthday to your son!! I hope he has a Fantastic day!!! As a mama of 3, I know what this day means to you, so Happy Day You Gave Birth!! <3
Cassie, your blog today about your son was so touching I had to leave a comment. Our oldest is leaving for college in 7 shorts weeks (but who’s counting? wait, it’s me, not him, counting!), he also loves the Lord and is eager to see what He has in store for him, and all I can think about is our house is going to be SO quiet! Our other two boys aren’t nearly as talkative as he is. Hang in there, mom, while it IS a change that maybe hits moms the hardest, it’s so bittersweet, exciting and emotional all at once and we wouldn’t want them anywhere other than where God has them! Also, inspired by your and your Walmart posts, I found the most amazing camo shorts there and am loving how they’ve elevated their style game!
Happy happy birthday J! I remember when I met you and you were just barely older than my James is now! You are makin’ your mama proud!
Happiest of birthdays, J!!!!! And Cassie, THAT TOP IS CUTE!
Happy Birthday to your son and have a fabulous 4th weekend.
