Summer Lovin’

Welcome back to a new week, friends! I hope your weekend was grand. Today marks the last Monday of the school year for us, and only nine days until Summer Break! I’m so excited to have more time with the kids, but can hardly believe they’ll be a senior and 7th grader soon!

This week also marks the 8-year anniversary since I started Hi Sugarplum, and it’s crazy (and humbling) to know some of you have been with me from the beginning. So you’ve literally seen my babies grow up! Where has the time gone?!?

I usually mark the anniversary with a special post (see last year’s here), but figured next week’s launch of the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collection was celebration enough! It’s incredible to think that this little blog, that I created as a hobby, has led me on so many adventures, brought me the most amazing friendships, and presented me with more dreams and opportunities than I ever though possible.

But before I get overly sappy for a Monday, let’s move on to today’s post. My 1,827th post, to be exact! The calendar may not say Summer, but the weather certainly indicates otherwise! It’s straight-up hot already, and all I want to do is float around on a raft with a good book and cold drink. Not good for productivity!

All the darling new arrivals aren’t helping my affliction either…and these pieces have me pining for Summer days. Some of them are already new favorites!

1  //  Initial Straw Tote with Scarf  Grab this darling monogrammed bag, and even the most basic of outfits is summer chic! I love the shades of pink and scarf detail!

2  //  Striped Canvas Tote  It’s hard to beat a sturdy canvas tote when it comes time to loading up for the pool or beach! I just shake out the sand when we get home and toss it in the washer! This one is extra deep for towels and other essentials. Plus, stripes.

3  //  Ruffle Strap Top  I featured this top in a recent Dressing Room Diaries and I can’t stop thinking about it…I think that means I need to go back for it. This coral is cute, but the striped one has my heart.

4  //  Express Bronzing Self-Tanner  I tried this (new to me) foaming self-tanner over the weekend, and am so blown away by the natural, deep color! I used the same tricks I shared in this self-tanning post, and was left with a streak-free, natural-looking tan. I love that this formula gives you instant color, and you can wash it off after only a few hours without sacrificing color. It’s so good, it deserves it’s own post!

5  //  Low Heel Wedge Sandal  I grabbed these wedges for the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum photoshoot, and fell in love! They’re a comfy low heel, but still uber-flattering. I have the tan shade and they’re extra leg-lengthening.

6  //  Abstract Print Maxi Dress  This flowing maxi will hit the blog in my next Dressing Room Diaries, but it’s too pretty not to share now! The print is gorgeous, and it easily dresses up or down. It’s the quintessential vacation dress! (It’s long, so I needed the petite.)

7  //  Melamine Outdoor Plates  We eat outside as much as possible, and I’m a sucker for fun outdoor plates and cups (no glass around our pool!). Plus, simply add some colorful napkins and drinks on ice, and you’ve got yourself a festive vibe!

8  //  Tassel Earrings  It’s no secret I have a thing for tassels…on my bags, my clothes, around my neck, and especially on my ears. These are super lightweight and come in every color under the sun. Perfect for any summer top and dress.

9  //  Large Woven Basket  Baskets are every organized home’s best friend. I have several in every room, and store #allthethings in them. We have this big one on our back patio to hold pool towels and flip-flops.

10  //  Beaded Crossbody Bag  Can you even with this cross body bag?! Shades of pink and orange beads in a fun geometric pattern. Add to cart!

11  //  Striped Tank Dress  This racerback t-shirt dress is my go-to swim coverup, and looks so cute with sandals, flip flops and sneakers. I size up for a more relaxed fit.

12  //  Pink Suede Clutch with Tassel  Summer also marks the start of wedding season, and showers, graduations, etc…and this pink clutch is the perfect accessory for all those party dresses.

13  //  Favorite Pocket Tank  How could I do a Summer Lovin’ round-up and not include my favorite pocket tanks? I have it in four colors and counting, and wear them with everything from skirts to cut-offs.

14  //  Ombre Indoor/Outdoor Textured Pillow  Our backyard is getting a little sprucing-up, and World Market is the best spot for outdoor pillows, decor and accessories. I love the watery shades of this ombre pillow, and the added texture.

15  //  Carry-On Wheely Bag  I’ve taken this suitcase on our last two trips, and it passed every traveler test I threw at it! It’s the perfect weekender size, and meets all TSA regulations for carry-on. On our last trip, I checked my larger suitcase, and used this one for my hats, camera, and miscellaneous pieces I needed.

16  //  Out-of-Office Graphic Tee  Cutest graphic tee in the softest cotton and pale pink lettering. I’d wear it with a striped or floral skirt, or keep it simple with shorts.

17  //  Tropical Beach Towel  Our pool towels are in desperate need of replacing, and I can’t help but think these would look darling draped over chairs and chaise lounges! I love the oversize, too.

18  //  Straw Fedora Hat  I live in hats during the Summer! Throw on a chic hat and lipstick, and no one will notice just how unruly you really look! I’ve yet to find a hat I love as much as this one. I can get it wet, sit on it, or have it blow down the beach, and it still looks and fits great!
