Suits Me Just Fine

I remember when I graduated college and started interviewing. The first thing I did, was buy a suit. I needed all the help I could get in making a good first impression! Fortunately though, every job I’ve had has allowed me the freedom to dress fairly casual.
But now that I’m more ‘mature’ (that’s fancy-speak for older), suits feel more comfortable and appropriate for some situations. Express  has a great line of modern-cut women’s suits.

For some reason I don’t seem to pull off the same sex appeal in my suit?!

For a typical workday, I tend to break mine into separates and wear the pants with a cardigan, or the jacket with jeans.

I love that Express always has great coupons, too. It’s like they’re giving you permission to shop! And now, they are giving you the chance to win a $500 Suit Makeover in their Express sweepstakes ! Just ‘Like’ them on Facebook, then go to the ‘Work It Sweeps‘ tab for your chance at one of four $500 gift cards. Can you even imagine the damage you could do with 500 buck-a-roos?!?
Let’s chat…how do you dress for work or everyday? Do you wear suits, or mix it up?

  1. I'm actually dreaming of the day I finally have a job that needs a "business casual" wardrobe.

But I guess I should savor bartending while it lasts – my job provides my chef coat and my pants always come from the thrift store. But I have to keep my work shoes in the trunk of my car so they don't stink up everything. 🙁

I'm a teacher, and rarely go the suit route. I do love their seperates and have many Express staples in my business casual wardrobe.

I'm with you – suits aren't as "sexy" on me as they look on the models. 🙂

I may have to check out their suits — I only have J Crew ones at this point. I wear a suit maybe 1-2 days a week, then am business casual all other days of the week (and we can wear jeans on Friday)!

I'm about to graduate and I've been going on a lot of interviews, I actually have 3 in the next 2 days! I'm definitely going to look into that giveaway! I am a very casual jeans and t-shirt kinda gal, but I'm starting to LOVE suits and the confidence boost they give! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂

  6. I haven't worn a suit in forever, but I love a suit jacket with jeans. Ha – mature – girl please! You still look like your 21!

  7. I've worn suits a lot over the years at work and also split them up to wear them as separates. I'm sure you'd have just as much sex appeal in your suit – you just need the right hip action! 🙂

I love the classic lines of their suits. I've not worn a suit in ages, being at home doesn't require one!

I am a jeans kinda gal but in my job I have to wear suits. It's a requirement when you work for a custom clothier that specializes in suits. I dream of the day I can be a little more casual and have a little fun with my work attire. Unfortunately it's a traditional suit worn the same ol way for me for now.

  13. I definitely wear each piece separately. I am a pre-service teacher and find myself wearing the pants with a dressy shirt or cardigan. I have 2 pairs of short pants from Express to wear with flats. I recently purchased two longer pairs at Ann Taylor and there are no words to describe how comfortable they are and how perfectly they go with a low bootie. I could wear them every day. Banana Republic's Sloan Crops and Pants are also extremely flattering, and I would highly recommend them! They have a nice little stretch to them too so you can move around more freely. This is extremely helpful as a teacher!!
