Cheers to Friday, friends! What’s on your weekend agenda? We don’t have a lot planned, and I’m pretty darn happy about that!
Today it’s time for another round of Sugarplum Style, snapshots of my everyday outfits I share on Instagram and Facebook, created by mixing and matching items in my closet. My hope is that they inspire you to stretch your wardrobe further by mixing up what you already have, and thoughtfully add new things. We’ve had some kookie weather lately, so this is a mixed bag of seasonal outfits!
When we do get the occasional weekend cold-front, you can assume I’ll be in my cozy uniform of soft tunic and favorite leggings. I’ve had this pair for two years now, and even after repeated washes and spins in the dryer, there’re still as thick and stretchy as new. Not even any pilling or fading!
Tunic | Favorite Leggings | Boots
Signs of Spring with this cheery trio! Finally an off-the-shoulder top that stays put, and isn’t swimming in fabric! I love the three-quarter sleeves, too. And don’t get me started on the pom clutch and fringe earrings…pretty much perfect for every Spring outfit!
Off-the-Shoulder Top | Pom-Pom Clutch | Fringe Earrings
Even though I’m a color-lover at heart, I still love a good black and white combo. Plus, this peacoat just makes every outfit chic.
Striped Sweater | Peacoat | Black Jeans | Gray Booties | Tote | Sunglasses
Whomever said ‘No white jeans after Labor Day’ clearly never tried them with navy and pink fair isle! (Of course, we all know I think that rule is bunk. See how I wear white jeans in Winter here and here.)
Fair Isle Sweater | White Jeans | Gray Booties | Bag (similar) | Sunglasses | Earrings
Who said sweats have to be schleppy?! When they’re in bright colors and paired with cute accessories, I say bring ’em on!
Oversized Hoodie | Jeans | Sneakers | Similar Bag | Sunglasses
I wore this navy and chambray combo to see Lion…hence my lack of make-up. #passthetissues #uglycry
Peacoat | Sweater | Chambray Shirt | Jeans | Boots | Beanie | Monogrammed Bag
What do you wear to film a video when they tell you no dark colors and no patterns? Pink ruffles, of course! I wore this combo to shoot our Master Closet for Container Store (reveal coming next week!!!)
Ruffle Sweater (similar here & here) | Jeans | Plum Booties | Earrings
Long cardigans are my go-tos on days when it starts chilly, but finishes warm.
Striped Tee | Long Cardigan | Jeans | Booties | Canvas Tote | Sunglasses | Earrings
Layered up and clearly pretty happy about it! I never met a pattern-mix I didn’t love, and stripes + gingham is at the top of my favorites list!
Striped Sweater | Gingham Shirt | Puffer Vest | Jeans | Boots | Similar Bag | Sunglasses | Necklace
Have a deep v-neck top that’s perilously close to a wardrobe malfunction? Just layer a sweet lacy bralette and you’re safe!
V-Neck Sweater | Lace Bralette | Puffer Vest | Sunglasses | Hoop Earrings
How Sporty Spice does Valentine’s Day. How cute are those pink hoop earrings?!
Striped Tee (similar) | Jeans | Sneakers | Bag | Hoop Earrings
Sometimes I like to see just how many layers I can squeeze into a single outfit. This sweater has been a favorite all season, and the perfect weight for wearing either alone or layering.
Sweater | Puffer Vest | Similar Scarf | Jeans | Booties | Bag | Sunglasses
On days when I get my hair done, you can bet your boots we’re going out! I can’t be wasting good hair by staying home and cooking!
Cold-Shoulder Sweater | Jeans | Booties | Clutch | Earrings
Thank goodness athleisure is a real thing now, because I spend way too much time in these ‘workout’ pants and hoodies!
Oversized Hoodie | Favorite Workout Pants | Sneakers (in pink, too!) | Monogrammed Water Bottle
I couldn’t resist sneaking in a peek of our Master Closet makeover! All the glorious details coming next week…I promise!
Closet System | Acrylic Bracelet Stands
And speaking of sneak peeks, Mama Sugarplum and I hit the mall for Dressing Room Diaries, and I had so many questions from our silly behind-the-scenes InstaStories, that I had to share some details! These ruffles were definitely highlights of our shopping trip…more details and the full post coming Monday!
Ruffle Top | Gray Booties | Knee Boots (similar) | Off-the-Shoulder Dress | Fringe Earrings | Ruffle Dress | Pearl Necklace

I saw your closet reveal video on The Container Store’s site already. Wow….it’s amazing!!! And comes at a great time too, because I’ve been seriously thinking of redoing our closet and was on the fence about the elfa system. Now I think it’s a serious contender.
Closet goals for sure!! And all of your outfits of course… I’m all about the athleisure look and that sweatshirt is adorable! Happy Friday!

I love those ruffle tees! can’t wait for the next round of dressing room diaries!!
WOW!!!!! You closet is already on the website. I love it!!!! You have SOOOOO many beautiful things. Just incredible. I was on pins and needles for the reveal…so glad it’s already on the website. Your closet reminds me of mine. Would you mind sharing a ballpark cost? I am assuming yours was comped, but I think a lot of your readers would be interested. Thanks, Cassie. It is a ice way to pay it forward.👍
Thanks so much, Amanda! Since the closet was a collaboration project, I’m wasn’t privy to the expenses, but I’m trying to nail that down before my own reveal post this week! xo
WooHooo!!! Awesome closet! So glad the cat is out of the bag! The video on The Container Store is fantastic! I second Amanda’s comment. I don’t do like to know it and find it ridiculous to follow links to get an answer. Maybe once we can just get a number, no clicking or cryptic answers. Don’t take this personally, it’s just a general observation. So many bloggers have lost the personal touch. Simple not relatable anymore. I think you understand and seem to get it. Thanks so much!
Hi Dina! I’m thrilled you liked the closet, and can’t wait to share more of it here later this week! Since it was a collaboration, I wasn’t privy to the numbers, but I’m hoping to get them from Container Store so I can pass along ballpark figures.
As for the links, those are meant to be helpful for people looking for the exact or similar item to what I’m featuring…either in home, organizing or style posts. If I exclude the links, I’ll get a flood of emails asking for product details. I know many aren’t a fan of like to know it, or the principle behind it, but honestly bloggers only earn pennies on the dollar..and that’s only for purchases made, not clicks. Not to mention, it takes hours upon hours to create and link posts, so I consider it a fair trade. Without those earnings, I wouldn’t be able to dedicate so much time to this blog, so it’s kind of a give and take.
I try to be completely transparent, so if you have any more questions or concerns, please let me know! I’m happy to explain it further!
Just discovered your blog and am super happy to see someone about my age blogging CUTE outfits. It seems all the fashion blogs are for the 20-something crowd. Loving all your posts so far.
Wow…you are fast. Now we know the true Cassie. You really are all about the head pats and humble brags. #pinchme #soblessed #choosegratitude… #CHOOSETRUTH!
Hi Julie…I think you’ve gotten a little mixed up leaving comments on multiple posts. All the original closet reveal comments are still on this Sugarplum Style post, and you actually left your other comment under the Top Ten post. Check the two posts, and I think you’ll find I haven’t removed any comments, not your aggressive ones, nor the closet (I have no reason to take those down, as I’m incredibly proud of that project). It’s hurtful to think you immediately thought the worst of me, but obviously you’d already made up your mind and no explanation will change that. I’m sorry my blog is no longer a good fit for you, but I’ll continue to #choosejoy xo. c
Ughhh…trolls…they are everywhere. They are jealous, and they should be! You really are a top notch blogger. Thanks for being transparent. I LOVED your closest. I do agree with sharing a ballpark cost without ant “links.” I never joined that program, never will. There are a few bloggers that still share openly, but it really has become business to most. I mean many have quit meaningful jobs to fashion blog. Not judging, but it amazes me the amount of clothes that are purchased (and returned.) You seem open to sharing, so could you let us know a range of what your closet cost? I am cool with yours getting for free, but I would love a number. It does seem like the right thing to do.
Thanks Cameron!! Since the closet was a collaboration, I’m not privy to all the expenses…but I’m hoping to get a ballpark from Container Store before my own post runs this week.
As for the links, those are to help people looking for the same or similar items. It takes the legwork out for them so they aren’t spending hours scouring the websites trying to figure out what I used/wore. I already spent those hours for them! 😉 True, blogging is a lot of fun, but it honestly takes so much time, so without revenue, there’s no way anyone could dedicate as much time needed to generate the content readers love (and expect!).
And why shouldn’t a brand or retailer pay, considering the exposure they receive from a blogger? It doesn’t cost the reader anything, but rather, it’s a give and take relationship between the retailer and blogger. Without the affiliate link, a brand would receive free exposure, and the blogger works hours and hours with no compensation. That’s both unfair and nonsensical.
My goal is to stay transparent because I respect and treasure the relationship I have with my readers, so please feel free to let me know if you have other questions or concerns! I appreciate your support and readership more than you know!! xoxo Happy Sunday!
I am confused and hope you understand…you linked some of your closet features, and I am being redirected to The Container Store website. Even if you are making pennies in the dollar, you are still making money on something that was comped/you did a collaboration with. Is that allowed or even ethical? Just curious and not trying to be mean, but I think your readers were specifically asking not to be “linked up.” I know you are proud to be asked to participate, but this seems weird.
Hi Jamie — I’m using the links as dictated by my contract with the Container Store. The full reveal post will be linked as well (per CS contract), not only so readers can easily find/shop the exact items used in my closet, but so CS can track the activity that comes from my site. It’s how they gauge the success and reach of a project, and determine what products are most popular. Also, I have a full disclosure policy, and strictly follow FTC guidelines! I hope this clears it up!! xoxo
Wow…you must be exhausted after all the defending you had to do. I really love reading your blog. To be fair, I think people just want straightforward answers. There are enough girls that will happily pay for your writing. I get your disclosure and respect that you follow the FTC guidelines. In all honesty I have never read a blogger give a negative or even an “ok” review. Everything seems to perfect, almost to a fault. If you had some constructive criticism for The Container Store, would you let your readers know? I think your shoes on display is GORGEOUS! You have such a beautiful collection! Is that space practical? Sorry to ramble, but I think I share a questions that some of your readers have. We are followers, too.
Can someone provide the link to the Container Store video, please? I can’t seem to find anything on their site. Thanks!
Hey Liz!! It’s all linked in today’s post…the reveal and links to the CS post and video!! xo
