Snapshots from Bahamas | Affordable Beach Wear for the Whole Family

There’s no question I have a regular group of retailers…my go-to spots for shopping fashion finds. A favorite for dresses, another for swimsuits, and that one spot I’m almost always sure to find a cute top.

But one thing I’ve learned over the years of style blogging, is no single retailer is guaranteed! I leave stores empty-handed more often than not (even when only looking for things to share with you!). The opposite is also true though! Retailers I’d never think to check surprise me with darling finds all the time!

Case in point…Walmart. Yes ma’am, I said Walmart.

The night before our Spring Break trip, we stopped in for last-minute packing supplies…sunscreen, bug spray, anti-bacterial wipes, travel shampoos…the usual suspects. An hour later I walked out with some amazing fashion finds for everyone in our family!! And not one thing was over $20…in fact, most everything is under $10!

Which is perfect considering the wear-and-tear on beach items.

My first find was this crochet-trim coverup…lightweight, not too sheer, and dries quickly. Not to mention only $15 and comes in seven colors!

I picked this hat up from a local market on the island, but this one is very similar. I love having the lanyard option for windy days.

Look at this cute outfit…would you have ever guessed Walmart?! Shirt, shoes, hat and bag…and I seriously love every single piece! The striped top is thick and soft, and could seriously be sold for three-times the price at any other retailer. At under $10, I’ve already ordered another color!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small shirt (XS wasn’t available). The sandals are true to size, have a comfy padded footbed, and are seriously good dupes of the popular Grecian sandals! For SEVEN DOLLARS!

I waited until after the kids gave their new finds a thumbs-up before telling them it was all from Walmart. They were seriously impressed! #momwin

But there’s no denying this jumpsuit is cute, am I right?! Plus, the quality is great and it laundered beautifully!

Mr. SP always appreciates a good deal, and was shocked his new swimsuit was only $10! These swim trunks are legit…sturdy material that dries quickly, and full mesh lining.

The biggest surprise was in the beach bag selection…seriously so many cute options, it took me 20 minutes to decide on just one! It’s big enough for all the day’s essentials, plus four beach towels. It even comes with the tassel!

All in all, I’m feeling pretty good about the beach styles I scored for amazing prices, and will certainly be checking Walmart more regularly now! How about you…have you stumbled on some cute things at unexpected retailers? Do you check Walmart for fashion? Would you be interested in seeing more finds from them? Especially for Summer, when clothes are lighter and more casual?

Stay tuned for the full Trip Report of our Spring Break trip to Exuma, plus everything I packed and wore.

I recently discovered Walmart clothes too! It’s funny because when I was in high school 15 years ago, I would randomly buy stuff there and of course those are the items everyone always asked me about! I tried a bunch of new things there last week and these were my winners:

I wear the J Crew sweater blazers to work all the time, and this cardigan has a similar function in my wardrobe for soooo much less money. I bought the seafoam color in store and I think I need to also buy this rosy pink one.

I tried these jeans in the darkest wash and I’m very impressed. They really suck in my twin skin and do a better job staying put than my stretchier jeans.

Then I bought this swimsuit specifically because I love that similar J Crew one you always wear, but I can’t wear it because the chest isn’t lined. This one is similar but has some light padding in the cups so I feel much more covered up. I plan to wear it like a shirt like you do, with midi skirts and other stuff on vacation.

I am excited to try more things. I feel like they have some excellent dupes for Madewell and J Crew and it’s so much easier to try a trend when it’s this affordable.

Love the ideas from Wal Mart. I think its great to mix in some of these things and helps me better “justify” to myself when I do make a splurge. It all balances out right??? Seriously over the years I have found some hidden gems at WalMart and find that many times the quality is better than other discount super store options. #summeriscoming

I thought that about the quality, too! The striped tee is seriously the same or better quality than J.Crew and Boden tees! And for TEN DOLLARS! Excited to see what else I can find!

Hi Cassie! I’m a 6 1/2 size shoe. Would you recommended size up or down on the H-band sandals? I know you say they are true to size…Thanks!

They had my exact size, so I’m not sure about sizing up or down…I always err on the side of sizing up in shoes like these. Mostly bc I’d rather they be a tad long than have my heels or toes hang off!

Love the more budget friendly retailers like Kohls and Walmart. Wal-Mart’s Time and Tru collection has cute items. Although we were just in the Bahamas ourselves just over a month ago, it makes me want to go back right now! Not even Kauai compares to that beautiful turquoise water!

May I ask please, where you got the ‘Live Simply’ hat that Little Miss is wearing? It is beyond darling (and so is she)!

No thanks. I don’t think they are a socially responsible company.

Hi Kris! Can you tell me what it is about them that formed that opinion? I actually did some research before agreeing to work with them, and they are doing so much to feed our nation’s food challenged, and give to the lower income communities. But if I’m overlooking something, I’d love to know!
