Shine, Baby, Shine

A couple of weeks ago, I told you of my light-bulb-moment (those are rare, hence why it needed to be blogged). After years of over-looking this kooky little nook that leads to the Master Bedroom, I finally realized it could be highlighted, even, dare I say, revered. After years of putting this baby in a corner, it was time for her to shine.

The nook hadn’t been completely ignored before, but treated as part of the Living Room, with no real style or design intent.

Now it adds so much more personality to the room, and is a fun little surprise peeking around the corner.

Before….

Behind that door lies my Gift Wrapping Station

And now….

Once the paper was hung and the walls painted, it was time for the fun part…properly styling it!

I found the urchin and zebra tray here, and the vase was a super intensive DIY. I kid, it’s actually just gold duck tape. BAM!

My formula for styling coffee tables works the same for small side tables, as well. This one was fun because I could use the back wall to lean art and pictures. The Paris art I originally made for Babygirl’s room using a calendar similar to this, but it got displaced after she decided to transition to a horse theme. I’m crazy for the black and white faux bone frame from here, too. (You can read about my wedding dress shown in that picture here.)

The chest is from a cheap old bedroom set, and is in bad shape….she’ll get a paint job soon.

It’s been a few weeks, and we’ve had drastic temperature changes during that time, but so far my little system for hanging the paper is working like a champ!

It’s no surprise, but this is my favorite view in our house right now! The prints on our bedroom wall are from this book, and here is a similar mirror.

And because they’re fun, how about one more Before….

And After…

And just like that, another one bites the dust off the old To Do List! Are you crossing projects off lists, or focused solely on the holidays now? Do you have a little nook that needs extra attention? Oh, and don’t forget to enter the $400 Visa Gift Card Giveaway (nope, not a typo…400!)…winner will be announced this Friday!
