Thanks so much for all the feedback on the mirror yesterday! You’ve certainly given me a lot to think about! One thing is for certain, the paint brush is coming out in my Living Room!
Some of you wondered about my little pumpkin friends, and whether or not they’d be getting a shiny green coat for St. Patrick’s Day. (You guys amaze me that you even remembered!! Okay, maybe only a handful of you did!)
Well, it saddens me to share this news, but the pumpkins bit the dust. In a big, black, mushy, disgusting way! Not only did I lose them in the freeze (but didn’t discover this until weeks later due to the paint disguise!), but they left behind their mark on my prized Ikea door mats!
Yeah, that is the residue of pumpkin guts….seeped into my discontinued mat!!! The outer ring is where I tried to hose it down.
Parting is such sad sorrow. It was a frightful Halloween.
A sparkly Thanksgiving.
A joyful Christmas.
And finally, a sweet Valentine.
So while I retire my dreams of dressing them in green leprechaun hats, the search will begin for new doormats. (Retail therapy sooths my wounded soul.)
Anyone else still holding tight to their pumpkin dreams?

My condolences! I was really hoping to see them decked out for St. Patty's Day!! Ikea still has mats similar to those at our store here in Atlanta. Not sure if they are the same size though. I have them and LOVE them!!
Oh man such a bummer. I loved the idea of painting them different colors. They looked darling pink. Good luck with your search!
Are these the longest-lasting pumpkins ever, or what? That's amazing–I can never get mine to last that long. RIP cute pumpkins.
Ours bit the dust in the same way…except they were buried under four feet of snow and ice for a while and we sort of forgot about them until the snow melted. Gross.
these pics are delightful, you really have an eye. loved reading your blog 🙂
Is it mean that this post just made me come out with an all out evil cackle?? But I am sorry about your rug.
HAHAHA! Those pumpkins! They had a good life here on Earth. May they enjoy their final resting place. 🙂
Too funny and yes, can totally relate- my 4 painted pumpies have turned to gross goo at the side of the house- not fun.
ahaha I was one who asked if they would be making a St. Patty's Day appearance! ahaha Sorry for your loss. 🙂
Ahh boo! Shame you didnt get to spray them green!! xo
I can't say I am holding tight to my pumpkin dreams, I think you are alone on this one! lol
They will be missed though.
Sad to see those little guys go. Bummer about the guts on your pretty mats. Nothin' a little shopping can't fix 🙂
I think Thanksgiving was my favorite pumpkin style 🙂
those pumpkins lasted longer than my first boyfriend 🙂
those pumpkins lasted longer than my first boyfriend 🙂
This cracks me up! I can't believe how you were able to keep those around – I've never had a pumpkin last for me for longer than a month before it started slumping over and seeping everywhere.
"Lasted longer than my first boyfriend" – TOO funny! Hope he didn't end up the same way 🙂 Ali
I cannot believe they lasted THAT long! They lived a good life, RIP dear pumpkins 😉
Hi there – I'm new to your blog via Honey We're Home. I'm absolutely amazed that those pumpkins lasted for so long! That's unbelievable! Here in Boston they wouldn't make it past Thanksgiving (and I think that would be a stretch).
LOL! Can't stop laughing, seriously. But I am very sad for you rug. It just so reminds me of how you hung on to those bad boys with all your creative might. It also reminds me of how I just found a soft and gushy mini orange pumpkin amidst the children's play toys. Not pretty.
So sorry to hear the sad news, but they did live a good long life and saw more spray paint that most pumpkins could even begin to imagine.
